Dungeon of Niflheim-Chapter 878: A daughter’s rage (2)
Khione's bedroom: Tengliu and her baby sister after having an energetic tussle with their mother had been brutally restrained the instant Freyja's patience ran dry.
Gods were beyond the means of mortals, even those in the S-rank were nothing but larger flies in comparison. Peak behemoths could perhaps endure a period of punishment, but they could never defeat a fully ascended God like Freyja. The moment she dropped her reservations and decided to end this little dance Khione and Tengliu didn't stand a chance. If they were smart then they'd either keep their mouths shut and stifle their frustrations or beg for mercy but given the level of betrayal and the close relationship between the three woman the exact opposite happened.
Khione was still in the prime of her rage, her eyes were no longer clouded by a scene of red, but her heart was still aflame, her body swollen and tense as she fought, scraping and punching the floor in an attempt to escape from her mother's clutches. The hand shoving the back of her head being nothing more than a focal point for her motivation.
She roared and screamed, cursing Freyja with her every breath, her every word laced with a biting hatred that stabbed Freyja deeply. As a mother it was hard for her to hear such words from her precious daughter. She wanted to shut her up, slap her into next week until she learned respect but at the same time she understood where she was coming from. What she did to Khione was serious, so serious that violence against her was well and truly justified so that hand that started to rise up on instinct stalled. She didn't curse back, nor did she glare instead she deeply sighed before turning her gaze to the other woman with her ass up in the air, supporting her like a living chair.
'Tssss' The ice prevalent in Tengliu's glare made Freyja sharply inhale, that look cutting even deeper than Khione's graphic insults. Her eldest held a very special place in her heart and she knew it well. Usually she would never abuse such a position but when she did…oh ho ho the fallout was always intense…now was one of those times.
Freyja feared hearing anything that came out of her eldest's mouth, but her curiosity got the better of her. A dialogue couldn't be started between them if she kept her imprisoned, so she slightly lifted her restraints and the first word that come through was '2nd Empress'…her heart started bleeding.
Not mummy, mama, mum, mother or even Empress mother simply 2nd Empress, so formal and distant….Freyja felt the urge to cry. It was hard enough seeing her daughters grow out of the mummy phase let alone having them see her as an enemy like they did now.
'Tengliu….' She called her daughter's name with affection but got nothing but an ice cold stare in return.
She glanced back at Khione, she was still aggressively resisting and loudly cursing, nowhere near ready to have the rational conversation she wanted.
"…..Haaaaaa." Freyja put her whole body into this sigh, understanding that they wouldn't get anywhere if she kept strong arming.
She thus immediately removed the shackles she placed on Tengliu and stopped pushing Khione's face deeper into the floor. She lightly tapped both their raised cheeks and floated onto the nearby bed, crossed her legs, cupped her chin and gazed at her two daughters with endless affection, letting Khione's angry words enter one ear and leave the other. Even Tengliu's ice glare seemed to no longer leave any mark on her, an immovable rock that simply absorbed everything that was thrown at it.
When Khione started to get herself wound up again Freyja stopped her outburst with a single finger, she then wrapped up her baby girl with her divine energy and healed her of all damage before placing her back down beside her sister.
"Khione I know you're angry and hurt and I am truly sorry for what I did to you but please take a breath so we can talk." She apologised again, genuinely but her words seemed to fall on deaf ears. Khione hatefully roared in response, her body tensing back up as she tried to lunge at her mother, wanting nothing more than to rip up that annoying, betraying face of hers.
Freyja did nothing instead Tengliu who had yet to speak an actual physical word stepped in. She eyed her mother and saw the remorse in her expression, so she made a move to hold back her sister's outburst. They had raged and fought enough; it was now time for them to exchange words.
"Tengliu!" Khione head rapidly turned in the direction of her sister.
"She's right Khione, take a breath." Tengliu placed a hand on Khione's shoulder in comfort and looked her dead in the eyes.
"Bu..Bu…But she…she wahhhhhhh!" Khione pointed at her mother sitting on the bed, her voice strained and shaky before she started loudly wailing and sobbing. Her intense reaction shaking both Tengliu and Freyja to the core, the former quickly pulling her into a hug, letting her cry on her shoulder.
"It wa…s s..so special a..an….and now its r…ruined."
"No, no Khione nothing's ruined, it's all going to be ok." Tengliu soothed her sister with honeyed words but internally she was at a loss, unsure of what to do in this situation. Her baby sister was always so confident and headstrong, she hadn't bawled like this since she was a child.
"She's right honey your moment with Frost is still special, it doesn't matter if your family saw it or not, it doesn't detract from how you felt in that moment." Freyja chimed in, desperate to hug her baby girl just like Tengliu was doing.
"YOU SHUT UP!!!" Khione's sobbing stopped for a brief instant so she could yell at her mother. "WAIT NOOOO!!! You saw that NO! NO! NO!" Her wailing went up a few octaves upon realising her first kiss had been openly broadcasted to the rest of her family. That meant they saw her swooning, his hands roaming up and down her body and maybe even…..all colour suddenly drained from her face.
As if being able to read her mind Freyja dismissed the worries that started to ferment. "The picture wasn't as zoomed in as you're thinking, everyone but Skadi, your father and I only saw the broad perspective." This wasn't a lie, to avoid being detected the recording had to be made from a decent distance therefore for the most part the viewers could only see a somewhat vague outline. They saw a kiss and some movement but nothing super detailed, even their voices were muffled to some degree.
Of course such restrictions couldn't stop the highly developed senses of two Gods and a woman in the late stages of S-rank. They saw pretty much everything at least Freyja and Skadi did, Shivali who was watching alone in his office ended up ignoring the recording after his wife threatened him, he couldn't trust himself to remain in control if he saw his baby girl doing anything intimate, so he dived back into his work. Freyja didn't know this but even if she did she wouldn't care, she had already dobbed herself in, so she didn't see a reason to avoid dragging him down with her.
"What! Dad saw us too!" Khione's legs buckled, the last straw breaking the camel's back. The wave of betrayal couldn't rise any higher but along with it she now felt fear, trepidation. She knew full well how protective her father was, so she worried for Frost's safety.
"Yeah he even came close to wiping your little lover out of existence, but I stopped him." Freyja vigorously thumped her chest emphasizing her role as a protector, as a saviour in the highlighted situation, killing multiple birds with a single stone. Khione's anger would be diminished by her gratitude, and the target of her rage may even be somewhat shifted.
Tengliu immediately picked up on her mother's angle but didn't argue, Khione needed to calm down some if they were going to have a proper discussion and since her father was also involved she didn't mind him being thrown under the bus.
"R…really?" With puffy eyes and snot running down her face Khione asked like a young child grasping at the first sign of light in this dark, painful tunnel.
"I swear it on my divinity baby girl, I told him I'd cut his dick off if he did anything to Frost, Skadi can serve as my witness." She placed a hand over her chest and swore on her divinity, a heavy oath for a God to make as breaking it would cause all manner of problems when it came to forming and developing their personal realm.
Tengliu and Khione therefore didn't question her words in the slightest, their mother would never jeopardise her strength.
'Sorry Shiv but you're going to have to serve as the big baddie here.' She silently apologised to her husband who involuntarily shivered in his office, sensing that something disastrous might be heading his way….not like that was anything new, his family was quite chaotic after all.
The two sisters exchanged looks before glancing back at their mother, their hearts somewhat calmer after hearing Freyja's oath.
"….You're still not forgiven." Khione muttered through tightly clenched teeth. The fact that she wasn't cursing or screaming was a good sign that her anger had dissipated somewhat.
"I know honey, baby steps." Her mother didn't push, letting the steam evaporate naturally.
With the tensions now cooled between them perhaps Freyja could ask the real reason why her eldest daughter summoned her here.
