Dungeon of Niflheim-Chapter 885: Trying to avoid the death penalty
"I got word about the recording shortly after you arrived at the mountain resort, from then on I watched it intermittently and had the royal guards summarise what I'd missed." Shivali's actual job kept him from watching the entire sequence from beginning to end, unlike his children and two wives he actually took running Niflheim rather seriously. He of course omitted the fun he had with Freyja and Skadi partway through since Frost didn't need to hear about his sexy times with his mother in laws. He wasn't all the fond of open sharing, far more prudish (normal) than Freyja in that regard. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Ok so far so good." There wasn't anything too intimate before their time on the ship, merely preparation for the final event. "What about on the SS. Gwienfieldal?" This was the key, that's where everything started to unravel, where Khione's desires started to overwhelm her.
"The ship….well I saw pretty much most of it. The atmosphere between you two was really good so I struggled to look away." Shivali pressed his two index fingers together in a cute manner and looked towards an empty corner of his study as Frost glared at him from a position of authority. A rather uncommon reversal.
Back then he was already starting to get irritated by the sights playing out in front of him, his anger and rage appearing in his expression but alongside that was a starving curiosity, desperate to see how far this pink atmosphere could be taken. If it wasn't his daughter playing a major role in this reality drama he'd likely have been hooked, screaming at the screen and clapping at the marvellous nature of the play that could so easily pluck his heartstrings. Alas that wasn't the case, so he was sufficiently torn, looking with extreme focus while at the same time internally screaming for himself to look away.
Hearing his vague response Frost couldn't help but imagine seeing their actions from the position of a third party observer. The way they spoke to one another, flirting, teasing and then their body language that grew bolder and bolder as the night grew darker. A play that was once appropriate for youths and perhaps teenagers gradually evolving into something more steamy.
'It does sound like the makings of a popular play.' Though he likely wouldn't have the stomach to start something so invasive he accepted that turning away especially when a very juicy end was on the horizon would be quite a difficult task especially for someone with an endless lifespan. Without entertainment how could immortals bear to live for such lengths.
Frost therefore gave his father in law a pass, forgave him slightly for his curiosity.
'As long as he didn't see the finale there may be hope yet.' He understood Khione's personality quite well or at least he believed he did so he was confident that as long as Shivali didn't see him sweeping her off her feet, placing a deep sensual kiss on her lips and caressing ever inch of her sexy body then capital punishment could be taken off the table.
Such conclusions however didn't bring ease to his face instead the highly developed frown across his forehead tensed further. If Shivali failed to tear away his gaze when things were just starting to get romantic then what were the chances of him being able to do it at the climax…..the odds weren't in his favour especially considering how this meeting of theirs first started.
Frost's gaze therefore became filled with pity. "What was the last thing you saw?" He asked, his choice in words and tone being more forceful this time, reflecting the seriousness of his question, a seriousness Shivali seemed to pick up on. His awkwardness and guilty expression disappearing as he thought long and hard.
He had watched rather intensely as Khione dragged Frost through the many decks of the SS. Gwienfieldal in search of entertainment. The night club, the underwater glass deck, the casino, the shops and of course the fishing experience which he himself ended up greatly envying when he saw it. It'd been quite some time since he last went fishing, perhaps he should call up some old friends or invite a couple of his sons along for a good old fashioned fishing trip.
Anyway the point was that he watched it all with extreme focus, his heart making it impossible for him to look anywhere else, it was a miracle his eyes didn't explode or at least bleed from the strain. The final straw however was when Frost and Khione finally made their way to the main dining atrium for their arranged meal. There he saw Frost put the moves on his baby girl and her respond in kind. A steamy and pink atmosphere made even sweeter by the addition of high quality alcohol. He saw clearly the desire, love and even -though it pains him to admit it- the lust in Khione's expression and felt his heart twisting, his growing anger and misguided hatred warping to the point that he started heaving.
When Frost leaned in, took firm hold of her hand and lead her away to a more discreet area, somewhere they could enjoy their privacy something in him snapped. He raised his hand up and focused his senses not towards the visual orb in front of him but to where the SS. Gwienfieldal sailed upon the Modanya current. He locked onto Frost, the frail, insignificant mortal leading his daughter down the road of corruption and held his fate in the palm of his hand, ready to smite him the instant he did anything against his daughter's will.
It was at this point that Biera and Freyja noticed his actions and confronted him, the former being confused and inquisitive while the latter was aggressive and threatening.
Under the onslaught of Freyja and Skadi, Shivali was forced to removed his marking and shuffle away with his tail between his legs. So deflated by the whole situation he didn't dare look at the orb any further, unable to trust himself to not raise a hand against Frost again he turned it off and focused on his work, mumbling complaints under his breath.
Miraculously this meant that Shival did indeed not see the finale of their date, Khione's most vulnerable moment and thus could hopefully be spared the death penalty. The reason for this however was because he threatened Frost's life making it rather hard and awkward for him to give a proper answer.
"…The last thing I saw was you leading Khione away from the main atrium, your faces flushed from the alcohol…..it was a bit much for me, so I turned of the orb and dove into my work." The truth alongside a few omissions but it should satisfy the conditions needed to get this young man on his side when death(Khione) comes knocking.
"Really, that's as far as you saw…nothing after that, you sure?" Frost was relieved by Shivali's answer as he had already assumed he'd be dead to rights. With this however he'd have some wiggle room in regards to his upcoming trial.
"Yeah….why, did I miss something?"
"Ahh….."
The seesaw of power between them started to shift, Shivali hearing the relief in Frost's voice started to develop certain thoughts. He looked his son in law up and down and reminisced about those events, the romantic mood that was set to explode and Frost dragging Khione away to somewhere more private.
His fear towards the impending doom that his daughter would bring him being replaced with an uncomfortable itch as well as growing anger and frustration.
"What didn't I see Frost?" That despairingly familiar pressure once again resurfaced putting the young Dungeon core on edge.
"….What do you think you missed father in law." Said Frost, his throat feeling oddly parched.
"Who's the one being coy now boy." Frost's attempts to ingrate himself with the title of father in law failed miserably as Shivali started to straighten his back and rise in stature, once again taking on the role of aggressor.
'This damn flippant old man.' He wondered if all ancients fogeys were this temperamental of if it was just him who had a case of rotten luck. Dark was annoying enough now he had to deal with this damn uncle. He was really at his wits ends and thus unable to or rather wantonly ignored the signs of danger.
"…Do you really want to know uncle or are you just posturing?" He was kind of caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand Shivali was clearly curious and was dead set on getting the answer, but the answer itself will likely be something he'd regret hearing. Given how emotional he was when it comes to his daughters, hearing about the bread and butter of how Frost and Khione cemented their newfound relationship might very well break something inside him.
If Frost gave him that answer it likely wouldn't end well for him so instead he called him out, subtlety or not so subtlety threatening him with the unspoken information.
A choice that seemed to pay off because the steadily growing Shivali with an ever darkening expression paused. He tilted his head to the side and thought silently.
"….Will the answer make me want to snap you in two?" To give weight to his threat Shivali cracked his knuckles and even directed some of his pressure into nearby glass causing it to violently shatter.
Gulp! The fear was quite real this time but as per usual the young Dungeon core recklessly charged ahead with his balls made of steel.
