Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 90: The Unneeded Actor
Leonhardt's body faded into the forest while Erina watched him in awe.
The surrounding villagers started to whisper, and what scared her was that nobody seemed to reject the idea or notion of making Leonhardt the city lord.
"Should we believe that young lad?" A woman muttered.
"What do you mean... he's just another liar! Wait until he comes back with his tail between his legs." An old man argued.
"But, what if he succeeds?" A beautiful woman with two children whispered.
"Heh, that idiot can't succeed." The guard who liked Asuka snorted, spitting on the ground.
"I believe him..." An old woman clenched her fists and watched the forest.
"He will save us from the darkness."
From there, the villagers started to argue, and more came forward for Leonhardt.
'How can this be?' She thought.
Unable to doubt his charisma and power, she also felt her chest tighten, her heart thumping. Each word and action he took slowly enthralled her mind and heart.
Like a piper, he was guiding these lost souls into a new age.
She looked back but noticed that Sylvie and Asuka had vanished, and even the woman named Dia, who clearly had a thing with her father, vanished from sight.
They seemed to have followed Leonhardt, but she couldn't be sure.
However much she wanted to follow Leonhardt, she felt he gave her a chance to prove her worth, and thus, she turned to the villagers, with her eyes shimmering.
'This is it, I must convince them... but a village lord, is that what he desired?'
Somehow, she couldn't shift the feeling that he was destined for more.
"Forget these idle thoughts!" She shook her head and focused, slapping her cheeks with a loud smack.
"Everyone, I believe that you can rest easy... Leonhardt will solve all issues!"
Lost in their voices, she turned once more to the forest, a place filled with an abnormal heat and sense of danger that made her spine tingle...
"Be safe, Leonhardt."
—
Meanwhile, inside the forest...
"How dare you use magic on those innocent people!" A sharp voice snapped through the forest as her icy spears formed around her palm. "Do you think Enzo would let you live for actions like this?" Dia's heart pounded because she had almost fallen for his sweet words, nearly becoming his puppet.
"Oh... you were there, the foolish woman watching me."
He noticed two people following him once he left, and now they watched him from behind a large tree.
'Good, they followed.'
Leonhardt didn't speak with his kind or elegant voice, different from the usual: it was deep, cold, and cruel, like the sound of the devil whispering into one's ear. This caused her whole body to shiver.
"Dia, was it? Enzo's elven bitch."
"Wha?!" Dia couldn't believe he called her in such a manner. "What did you just say?" She was so furious that the spears transformed, becoming sharper. Deadlier.
"Isn't it the truth, the only reason he keeps someone as foolish as you around is because you spread your legs easily. Kneel."
"Ugh?!"
Words like these caused her mind to blank and her blood to boil, and she wanted to rush at him, but instead, her body collapsed and she knelt.
*Thud!*
Her body dropped to the ground like rocks, her eyes opened wide, pupils dilating. "I... resisted it! I resisted your foul magic!" Dia protested, but the moment Leonhardt snorted, she felt as if his hands were pressing upon her shoulders.
His words were heavy, and mana weighed down on her soul...
Her legs became weak, her heart racing, and her vision blurred.
"Please don't... don't make me."
Dia tried to cover herself as if that was his desire or reason for controlling her.
"Oh, please! I don't see you in that way, you disgusting whore."
"W-Whore?!"
Her body was quivering at this point, unable to process what was happening to her body or how it became so weak, and even the link she held with magic faded, the sharp spears now hovering around Leonhardt's fingertip.
"You see, I don't mind if you're here to protect Erina... but you've taken it upon yourself to overstep your bounds, woman."
Leonhardt's red pupils flickered with fire as they alternated between different colours. His body shifted as he started to walk towards the woman, her face twisted in fear, tears leaking from her eyes.
The arrogant witch was crushed in a single sweeping moment.

His lips curled into a smile, but to Dia, that smile was scary, inhuman and lacked any human warmth!
Knowing her terror, he tilted his head before grabbing her chin violently, causing her teeth to chatter in absolute horror.
"Listen to me, Elf. Obey me, and life will continue as normal. But if you resist, I will make you into a sow for the Orcs, do you understand?"
"Please... please!"
She wanted to fight back.
Desired to go on the attack...
Leonhardt didn't stop to listen. "Your task is to guard Erina. Nothing else."
A simple task that almost seemed too good to be true, when she looked up at the monster in elven form and tried to speak, yet her quivering lips and chattering teeth made it impossible.
Leonhardt's words continued as if to crush her spirit as he whispered, "You may still watch me and protect Erina, but don't dare report anything about my 'unique' actions, or I will do everything in my power to kill Enzo."
Dia gasped.
The moment he pushed her face away, for a moment, the pressure faded.
"NEVER!"
She grasped the air, gathering mana to create another spear to stab Leonhardt's chest, but the next moment...
Leonhardt lifted his arm and smashed into her face with a brutal right hook. The impact sent her body to the ground, and she struck her head against a rock, cutting her head open as blood poured from the wound.
Overwhelmed with amusement, his eyes flicked to the shadows from earlier and noticed they moved closer, as if excited to watch such scenes.
"Foolish wench, did you think that wasn't a test? Hah... forget it, you will suffer. I won't go easy on you!"
The moment he spoke, Dia's world turned black, the forest faded, Leonhardt faded, and her emotions faded...
Leonhardt's mana poured into her mind, overwriting everything, dirtying, sullying...
Her soul shook, and she screamed in pain, "STOP! PLEASE!" Her voice was like a banshee screeching as everything changed.
"Please don't kill him! I beg of you, don't kill Enzo! He's the only thing in the world that makes me feel worthy and clean."
'Ah~ this is quite delightful.'
Though he rarely acted like this because he needed to maintain a semblance of his human persona, this woman aimed at him with her magic and intended to kill him seven times during their journey home.
"Sylvie, I am not the prince charming or hero you might have sought. I will not force anything on you, nor do I expect you to understand me." His voice became calmer and without the same sharpness he had for Dia, who now convulsed in a pool of her own blood and vomit.
"If I go too far, then say it. Tell me, I cannot change and probably won't stop. Let me know your limits, so you don't break."
Sylvie looked up, her face twisted with confusion as she tried to understand his actions.
To the young half-elf witch, these actions and his darkness made her skin tingle, an icy chill flowing into her throat with each breath. Sylvie didn't hate him even though she couldn't understand his actions...
'I need to tell him...' She thought while fighting with herself about what to say.
"I..."
Her voice came out hoarse, but Leonhardt waited patiently for her.
Asuka was different, walking towards Dia and looking at her pitiful body on the ground. "Silly bitch, that's what you get for offending my beloved." She spat on the elf, who twitched on the ground.
"Even though you're... a villain... a monster... I will not be scared."
Her words were quite a surprise for him. He never believed Sylvie could endure this test so well. This caused Leonhardt to chuckle. And that's why he extended his hand to her, with the calm visage of a handsome monster.
Yes, the test wasn't for Dia—it was never his intention to let her roam free.
"Sylvie, if I could make you stronger, would you accept it?"
