Chapter 973: All things holy

Tyche was only able to seize Uriel within her domain thanks to the overwhelming field advantage she obtained and although the Olimpieion was not the same, at least she was able to retain her original form. This allowed her to wield her divinity, a power far superior to what any human could achieve. Destroying Uriel with but a flick of her fingers was easy, but just as easily Uriel regenerated everytime without fail.

’I’ll keep doing this for a century or two and then everyone will lose interest.’ She inwardly thought. It was a chore, but wasting time was much better than having her misdeeds known by her fellow gods.

"I think you should let the creature speak, he was about to say something interesting." Shamash said politely but firmly and other gods nodded including Leto who declared to be interested in adopting a new critter.

"This is none of your business," Tyche shook her head, still flicking her fingers as fast as Uriel regenerated to keep his mouth shut. "perhaps you would be interested in the first scale ever made with the original set of weights?"

"Are you trying to bribe the god of justice!?" Shamash roared offended by just the thought. Of course, if that conversation was made in secret he would not have minded taking it on the spot as the artifact in question was priceless for the god of justice.

"Of course not, I’m just making conversation." Tyche lied.

"Then let us hear what the human has to say."

"He will just lie!" Tyche exclaimed offended.

"Let’s hear him out anyway and the Veritas can tell us whether he speaks the truth or not." Shamash sentenced now counting with more support from the other gods leaving Tyche no choice but to stop.

"Thanks, it was getting annoying." Uriel cracked his neck until a satisfying pop relieved him of the awkwardness.

"Have you heard about the one who stole the fire?" Shamash asked.

"Yes, Prometheus..."

"He is immortal just like you and if you know about him then you should also know what kind of punishment he received. If you don’t want to become like him, then consider your next words very carefully," Shamash warned before asking. "what evidence do you have of Tyche betraying Donn?"

"Dana," Uriel corrected and was rewarded promptly by being destroyed into molecules that soon regenerated. "I was just saying." Uriel said apologetically, but Shamash didn’t like his tone and destroyed him again.

"I’m not saying you’re wrong, but you just stopped Tyche from destroying it and now you’re doing the same thing..." Leto said.

"I don’t know why, but it is oddly satisfying." Shamash spoke as though he was popping bubble wrap instead of destroying a human being.

"Stop doing that, I’m starting to get annoyed." Uriel said still calm, maybe cold even.

"Poor little thing." Leto fought the urge to cradle the human like a baby and the only thing that stopped her from picking him up was the fact that due to his attitude Uriel was likely going to be destroyed a few more times until he learned to behave and she didn’t want to get messy chunks of flesh and blood on her.

"While all you ’gods’ have been playing here, Tyche and others have been plotting to take over the Olimpieion. I know this because she’s the one who keeps your sacred relics."

"I knew it! Whenever I asked you about my relics you always acted suspicious! It has been you keeping me from imparting swift justice among humans all this time!" Shamash growled as he turned towards Tyche.

"It wasn’t me! Are you really going to take the words of a lowly being like that?"

"Who are you calling names? At least I’m not a backstabbing bitch." Uriel sneered.

"You dare..." She managed to say as she was about to flick her fingers, such a simple gesture that could have blown Uriel to pieces, yet this time he didn’t allow it and activated his retribution skill returning the damage he had accumulated in an instant. Tyche’s large figure fell to the ground as she screamed in pain, parts of her body falling apart as she writhed in pain.

"What did you do!?" Shamash stepped in valiantly, yet hesitating before doing anything as the human creature did not flinch or cower in fear like it should have.

Chaos erupted in the grand hall of the Olimpieion with some gods hurling curses and others using their divine power against Uriel destroying him time after time to the point where no part of his body could regenerate completely. Flashes of light, darkness and other things unknown to humans took over the place destroying Uriel’s body to a molecular level.

To them, having a loose human with strange powers inside the dungeon was not different from a mice inside a human house. More than scared for their lives, they were scared the creature could transmit some sort of illness and end up like Tyche who now had foam running from her mouth.

Becoming the target for all the godly skills would have stopped even someone like Uriel, but things were not the same as in the past. For starters, whenever his body was destroyed in the past the simple act of regenerating was as painful as whatever destroyed his body. Now that he and Water warlock had merged, rather than regenerating it would be more accurate to say Uriel reformed his body instead. There was no pain, only a soothing sensation that told him everything would be fine despite the impressive power unleashed upon him.

A normal human would have had their soul destroyed, but Uriel’s consciousness remained unscathed and alert. Obviously, without a physical body his senses were shut off. A human needs eyes to see, ears to hear and so on. However, his mystical sense allowed him to perceive his surroundings just as well as sight could have, maybe even better.

That said, Uriel was more than joyous to discover his retribution skill still worked even though he was but a spirit of himself and he enjoyed every second of the catastrophe that ensued. Divine beings that were worshiped by millions of people in the past, gods that were accustomed to people willingly offering themselves as sacrifices just for the sake of the honor that came with it were now sprawled on the ground with bleeding eyes and horrified expressions carved on their faces.

"Mercy! Have mercy!" A shout was heard the moment Uriel regained his body.

"Please, save me..." A soft voice in the background moaned. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"This isn’t fair, you’ve gone too far." Shamash stuttered as he took a step backward.

"You all got what you deserve," Uriel’s eyes scanned his surroundings and finding the scene to his liking. There were some gods like Leto who remained unscathed, but most of the gods had received different levels of damage according to how much damage they caused him. "I’m not here to settle your quarrels, I am here on behalf of the human race to deliver you a message." Uriel channeled a sizeable amount of flux energy. That alone was not enough to impress even the lesser divinities among those present, but things changed when wings made of pure flux appeared on Uriel’s back.

"What message?" Asked Shamash.

"That your ways are outdated, your values are no longer valid and that you can’t rule over humanity anymore." He replied with a nod as if he was granting a grace to a lower being.

"Is that it? Do you think just because you can hurt us you can win? We may not be able to kill you, but you certainly can’t kill us. When Zeus arrives..."

"I’m not finished," Uriel cleared his throat. "you belong in a museum." He finally spoke the words he had been saving for just the right time and occasion.

Power flowed throughout his body as never before now that he was fighting within the mystical realm and he made the most of it by punching the so called ’god of justice’ in the face.

"Now that was a mistake," Shamash declared with a toothy grin. "you have an interesting ability, but it cannot compare to mine. I am the god of justice and you just committed the gravest sin. To go against justice is to become a criminal and criminals deserve to die." Uriel lost interest in Shamash’s long winded explanation, though he could feel in his skin that something was off. Shamash power over justice meant that he could also return damage, only it wasn’t equal but proportional to a sense of justice. That meant that depending on how guilty a person was found, the damage they could receive increased exponentially.

"There really is no power as absolute and righteous as justice." Tyche clapped in approval as she sensed the power of Shamash in action, but it was too son as Uriel remained unscathed.

"There is something more powerful than justice. It’s called vengeance and I’ll teach you about it." Uriel grinned before activating retribution once more.
