Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 977: Thunder
Chapter 977: Thunder
When Uriel’s plan came to fruition he saw everything as though it happened to someone else. He witnessed Zeus’ power as he channeled an absurd amount of flux energy that caused the surrounding objects to either become imbued with divine power or be destroyed on the spot. Even concrete dissolved in the presence of the dense flux leaving nothing but the naked alloy skeletons of the advanced buildings nearby. If anyone failed to evacuate, by that point it became clear that they were dead as no human could possibly survive that.
The moment Zeus unleashed the full might of the mother of all storms upon Uriel he calmly lifted his sword high over his head and caught the thick mass of lightning like a lightning rod. The amount of power he wielded in that brief moment left him astonished as it felt dangerous even to him. Instead of worry, that fact reassured him and once Zeus attack finished Uriel pointed the sword unceremoniously towards the king of gods sending the exact amount of energy he mustered back to himself.
Taken by surprise, Zeus used both hands in an attempt to block what could only be described as a death ray which was performed with his own flux energy, yet after passing through Uriel’s sword Bastard it changed into Uriel’s flux signature. Skin peeled off Zeus’ hands, then his flesh dispersed in the air into a thin charcoal dust. Zeus himself could not believe something like that could be happening to him and he acknowledged that such power would not just destroy his vessel which he had hunted for centuries, but that his real self would also be badly injured.
The blast lasted for merely a second, but thanks to Dash time stretched so far Uriel watched it happen in detail. He was ready to adjust the jet lightning if Zeus attempted to dodge which he didn’t. What happened instead was Medusa bashing at Uriel causing the stream of lightning to dissipate upward.
"What was that for!?" Uriel hissed.
"He’s my grampa! I told you to be careful!" She scolded.
"I thought what you wanted was for me to make it quick. Did I get him?" Uriel asked Sam who was the only one present who could have possibly seen the outcome and Sam replied with a stutter that could barely be heard.
"N-no."
Zeus was not unscathed, his body was charred and his arms were missing up to the elbow. His heavy breathing was now evident since he didn’t have a shirt anymore, but other than that he seemed fine.
"Your gramps is jacked." Uriel laughed, then nodded at Medusa to take some distance.
Their casual interaction was only possible thanks to the fight against the gods stopping due to the massive attack that caused everyone to take cover for a moment, but now they hesitated about whether or not they should resume the fight.
The mother of all storms was a skill so powerful it could keep titans at bay and was the only reason why the other gods bent the knee in front of Zeus. It was a skill that manipulated the planet’s atmosphere, something only he was capable of doing as the other gods lacked the flux energy to perform such a feat.
"I see, so this is the extent of my power. I always wondered if I could withstand it, I guess I should thank you for giving me the opportunity to taste my own power," Zeus said calmly after his body returned to normal, then he disappeared from Uriel’s sight and Zeus’ voice could be heard from behind. "now tell me, what can you do if I do this?"
"Retribution!" Uriel shouted in anticipation to the demolishing blow Zeus landed on him. It was so fast, by the time Uriel’s skill activated the punch had already destroyed Uriel’s upper body and Zeus received the full extent of the damage Uriel accumulated throughout the battle. Had they been at a similar level, Zeus would have died on the spot, but since he was a much larger existence than Uriel the proportional damage was much lower than what he received after Uriel returned his skill.
"Why did you stop him!? This could have ended then and there!" Sam cried to Medusa.
"You, shut up." Luna bellowed at Sam who retreated back to Aphrodite’s side where he felt safer. He had been inwardly complaining all the time that they didn’t bring Ika and Wendy back since they were powerful allies. On top of their natural strength as a holy rank hunter and a horror level cryptid respectively, Sam had also trained them to fight more powerful beings. But now he was grateful they weren’t there as they would have likely died the moment the gods imposed their presence.
"Now all we need to do is pass the time until a victor is decided. Should we make out?" Aphrodite suggested to Sam in the seductive voice of the goddess of love and sexual desire.
"Don’t joke around, I’m a married man!" Sam sneered, although his reasoning was different. Rather than divine beings, Sam was more into cryptids. Although that was something he would rather take to his tomb.
"You’re not his type, he’s more into fangs." Medusa said snarkily.
"You’re his wife?" Aphrodite asked Luna, who replied shortly.
"I’m not that blind or stupid."
’What is wrong with these people!?’ Aphrodite’s train of thought went back to her first ever mistake which was to follow Dana to New Texas after she moved in with the intention to start a family. Of all the gods and goddesses, the more likely to get in their way if they started a revolution was none other than Dana as it was her who distributed the harvested souls among the gods.
Under the guise of giving them their blessing, the revolutionary faction of the gods visited Dana’s home to check her security measures, but she had none. Instead of living in a dungeon, she was actually living a human life in an ordinary apartment which only made it easier for Tyche to send Hermes to steal her relics and her axis mundi alike.
From that moment her fate was sealed because although the Sage family who acted as protectors of the goddess of death was strong and could probably deal with a lesser deity, they could do nothing against the entire revolutionary faction.
It seemed as everything went smoothly as they managed to seal Dana in her own dungeon right after Jon caused the arrival. It was as if everything had fallen into place, but instead it was a domino effect that turned a child without a fate into someone who would change history with his own hands.
"Is this all you got?" Uriel laughed after having half his body destroyed with but a punch as if nothing happened.
"You really like to chat, don’t you." Zeus lunged forward with a kick, only now Uriel blocked it with the sword causing sparks to fly. It wasn’t that the sword wasn’t hard enough to cause damage, but that Uriel used the blunt side in order to prevent any damage from coming to the vessel.
"What can I do? If I’m too rough with you, my friend will scold me." Uriel shrugged unwittingly giving Zeus an idea.
"Then how about this?" Zeus’ smile grew wicked as he lifted an arm to the air while pointing the other down to earth. He channeled a vast amount of flux that albeit large, left Uriel unimpressed after the previous display of power yet he still lifted his sword to receive the skill.
"Watch out, it’s different this time!" Nika warned as the clouds on the sky formed a different patter and she was right. Rather than a single jet lightning, several bolts fell from the sky targeting all living beings that remained in the city and one by one, Uriel’s companions fell to the ground. Even the gods were hit and despite their alleged immortality, they also fell to the ground helplessly.
"This skill is named Reign of lightning, nothing can escape from it," Zeus informed then remarked with a bellowed laugh. "not so chatty anymore, are we?"
Uriel gritted his teeth and dropped his sword as he confirmed that everyone but Nika who hid in the shadows at the right time had fallen. As someone who had been struck several times by lightning he knew the feeling wasn’t pleasant and he also knew the kind of damage they suffered.
He wasn’t much worried about Sam who was a holy rank hunter or Luna whose ability to regenerate was on par with cryptids if not better after consuming the Gevaudan. But Medusa was different, she was more skilled in combat and she also possessed a strength far superior than the average heavenly rank hunter, yet she always ended hurt because of Uriel’s lack of power.
"If I can’t kill you and harvest your soul, then I may as well destroy it by making you watch your friends die."
