Chapter 976: Zeus almighty Part 2

The founding members of the Dungeon Raiders found themselves in a pinch, even Sam who hesitated before showing up to support Uriel. As a holy rank hunter, Sam had a grasp on the power of the gods the others couldn’t even fathom, even the minor deities present exuded an aura that left him questioning his own sanity, but even then his determination to make amends with his friends didn’t waver.

"If I have to die anyway, I’d rather die with my friends." He declared solemnly as Tina Celes possessed by an the goddess of beauty chose him as an enemy. Of all the Dungeon Raiders he was the only one who reached the holy rank, but somehow he seemed less dangerous than the rest.

The tiny woman who grew into a larger beast was already entangled in a fight with Bacchus, one of the most powerful gods in the entire pantheon. Not just that, she had somehow managed to land a scratch on the cheek of the god drawing a streak of blue blood.

"Interesting, is the color caused by your body making red cells out of cobalt instead of iron?" She said.

"It provides better oxygenation, If I were at your level I would have 25 times more lung capacity just because of it. But I am possessed, which makes it rather irrelevant for my physical prowess," Professor Lamar explained as Bacchus was too lazy to take control of his body. "more importantly, they’re not called red cells if they’re not blue." Lamar corrected before launching a powerful attack he wished Luna dodged, but she didn’t and the Professors hand pierced through the beastly belly. freewebnøvel_com

For a glimpse of a second Lamar’s eyes opened wide as he was giving his bare minimum only to put a show for the rest of the gods and Luna was doing the same, but now she was hurt it made it difficult to keep the facade. Or so thought Lamar as the wound regenerated faster than some gods could, her muscles wrapping around the intrusive hand making it impossible for Lamar to retrieve it once she caught his arm with a drooling smile.

"Let me taste it," Luna said in a low growl way more expressive than her usual self. "your blood."

Medusa’s martial arts prowess truly made a difference as she stood against the so called goddess of war and wisdom with graceful movements like those of a cat. She bent backwards to dodge Athena’s spear, then rolled back and sprung forward in a movement so fluid Athena could not foresee it. It wasn’t just her movements that changed, but rather the confidence in Medusa’s eyes that made Athena grow suspicious that her enemy was not as weak as the last time they fought, or rather when Athena gave her a one sided beating.

Being overly cautious Athena did not allow any of Medusa’s trinkets to even graze her skin and used her shield to block when Medusa neared her, but instead of uselessly striking the indestructible shield Medusa sidestepped to turn the forward momentum into a spin, then activated her gauntlet to Athena’s side causing the goddess to shriek in a voice much similar to that of the original Hazel.

"Be careful, she’s still in there." Uriel commented when casually landing nearby after dodging a lightning strike that should not be possible to dodge. He held his hat in place with one hand and Bastard in the other, then he swiftly activated Dash before another lightning struck where he just stepped.

"Can you really afford to look elsewhere?" Zeus yawned as if he was bored when he was very annoyed none of his strikes were connecting. It wasn’t like getting zapped a couple times could kill Uriel and Zeus knew it, which only made it more frustrating that the hunter made a point to dodge even when it wasn’t necessary.

Uriel was unbothered by his opponent’s attitude and was more concerned in making sure his friends would be alright on their own. It was Nika who gave him a scare when her chest was pierced by Ares, though it turned out to be just a trick she played on the god of war with the help of her shadow clone ability to get him to lower his guard and when the latter attempted to land the killing blow she stabbed him in the neck with the Red thread of fate.

She gained a large amount of energy with just that, but she didn’t stop there and went on to use the invisible flux wire to hogtie the armored god inhabiting Tate’s body. She had seen Uriel do it so many times in the past and had always wanted to do the same, only she never thought her first chance would be against a god no less.

Sam looked at the varied scenes with disbelieving eyes. Just because he was able to see everything and focus on everything he saw at the same time only made it more shocking. The strangest thing was that his opponent was also shocked and could not make the first move even if she wanted to.

"They’re monsters..." Aphrodite muttered, her eyes open wide and her limbs so tense her entire body shivered.

"I know, right? Right!?" Sam joined in the goddess’ whining.

"They’re holding their ground, but how is this possible? You were their enemy too for a time, what is it with them? Did they make a pact with a devil or something?"

"I wouldn’t put it past them, but to be honest, I don’t think any devil would be stupid enough to make a deal with him." Sam pointed at the blurred figure of Uriel who after confirming everyone was safe started filming a Vlog.

"Hey friends, so, this is Uriel Sage an archaeologist and today I’ll be doing an investigation on the outdated mythological figures known as gods. They leech of their power from human souls and belief, but it is known they also have a taste for human blood and gold. This one here is a grumpy one," Uriel shifted the camera to point towards Zeus whose grip on his lightning became so tight it bent flaccid like a banana. "he’s the so called god of lightning, but I believe the source of his power and confidence is the thing in his hand. Wanna see something cool?"

"What kind of hero disrespects their opponent like that? Do you not realize honor will come your way if you keep running away like a coward?" Zeus grunted and Uriel replied with a questioning look that became softer before replying.

"Right, I forgot what time period you’re from. Honor died the moment these were invented." Uriel smiled and stored Bastard in his museum to grab Nika’s Peacemaker revolver. He could have used both, but not without losing his hat as he had to move at a fast pace and keeping it on was increasingly more difficult the faster he moved. A single bullet was fired pointed directly at Zeus’ face and the god saw it coming as if it was in slow motion which gave him plenty of time to dodge, and yet he didn’t.

"This is how a warrior conducts himself in a fight to death." Zeus crossed his arms, the lightning now sizzling in his hand as blood dripped on it.

"I know you think you look pretty cool now, but receiving a flux infused bullet on purpose was really stupid." Uriel spoke in the most condescending tone he could possibly muster and then swapped the revolver for Bastard once more anticipating a lightning strike and swiftly dodged it.

"How!? How are you doing this!?" Zeus now roared as the mother of all storms started forming on top of him. Lightning crossed the skies in all directions and so many times the flashes of light as if someone famous was giving an historic interview.

"He’s ready!" Uriel smirked as his plan was nearing its conclusion.

Just as Zeus believed, dodging his lightning was impossible even for someone like Uriel with the Dash skill. Lightning was not just traveling at 100.000 kilometers per second, it was also a homing strike that would head straight to its target no matter if they moved, for someone to dodge that they would need to be at least twice as fast as the lightning itself which was effectively impossible.

What happened instead was Uriel using the ability of his sword to redirect the lightning, though that was also only possible thanks to Dash that allowed him to see the ill concealed and pretty much telegraphed strikes. Had that been all, Zeus might have been able to figure it out on his own and the key to preventing that was nothing else but Uriel’s uncanny ability to get on everybody’s nerves by just being himself.

The storm grew larger into an impossible size much larger than the megacity itself. The hairs of hunters and gods bristled alike as static formed everywhere. Nodes of electricity caused plasma balls to form at random, electronics and light bulbs exploded and many fires were started and people ran to take cover.

No one would survive the godlike lightning that would ensue.

"Die." Zeus’ eyes lit up in white as his expression became dead serious, but then nothing happened.
