Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World-Chapter 52: The Great Server Merge! Multi-Expanse Raids
[System: You have successfully met the hidden requirement to join Multi-Expanse Raids.]
[System: You have obtained the Item: Raid Card.]
[Raid Card (Mythical): Whenever there is an active Raid, you will be instantly notified of it and can use this to teleport there.]
[System: You have awakened a new Status Window: Mod.]
[Mod Slot Available: 1]
[Note: Increase your cosmic rank to successfully increase your Mod Slots.]
[Note: Until the World Quests officially end, you are strictly forbidden to reveal anything about Mods.]
The Origin Network’s notification rang out as its power washed over Sylvia and Caelus.
They stared at each other and blinked in surprise.
"To think it would be a Mod Slot," Caelus spoke.
"You know what this is?" Sylvia asked.
"Indeed." Caelus nodded firmly as he eyed his updated status window.
"Let us go out and talk," Caelus spoke softly. "We are still standing inside the dungeon."
Sylvia affirmed. They swiftly moved out of the boss room and safely left the dimensional area.
----
"What happened here?"
Two high-ranking officials arrived in front of the safety room near the toll booth of the Dungeon Zone. Beside them stood two geared Awakened wearing heavy elite armor.
"Are you alright, Kevin, Julian?" the Vice-Captain of the Red Bird Guild, Grant, inquired. He looked down at the two battered youths.
"They look perfectly fine to me," Lily, the main support of the Red Bird Guild’s core party, chuckled softly. "But if you want, I can easily use my A-Rank Healing talent to wash away any lingering physical trauma."
"No need. We are fine," Julian replied firmly.
"How exactly did you encounter the Null Players?" A man wearing pitch-black sunglasses and a dark-coated uniform stepped forward and inquired. "And who was the one that successfully saved you?"
"Oh. Mr. Brown, to think you would personally come out," Grant spoke respectfully as he looked at the stern man.
He was Mr. Brown from the powerful Evolvers Association, a high-ranking official who reported directly to the Chairman himself.
"Null Player activity has been rapidly growing across the Solaris Kingdom, and the Chairman has tasked me with tracking down their elusive leader." Mr. Brown turned his intense gaze back to the surviving students. "Well?"
Julian stared at Grant and then at Mr. Brown. "It was Sylvia. Sylvia Reign saved us just in time."
He lied straight to their faces. He was fully aware during the bloody incident. He was the first to get knocked out, but he still had some consciousness lingering. He had seen the exact person who dealt the final blow.
Caelus Kross.
----
"What a breathtakingly beautiful lady. Is she from around here?" a passerby gasped as his eyes landed on a girl sitting gracefully on a park bench. However, the instant he saw the silhouette next to her, he froze.
Because right now, the beautiful lady he had set his eyes on was clinging tightly to the man sitting beside her. Her soft body was practically glued to his side. Sighing heavily, the man walked past, cursing Caelus as a lucky bastard.
"So that World Boss possessed a Mod."
Caelus nodded with a wry smile. "That is correct. But my dear Sylvia, can you please not act so clingy in public?"
"Why not? You are my blood bond," Sylvia replied cheerfully.
"I am afraid I might get hit by a random meteor after this. I have probably been cursed by countless dudes passing by simply because of you being so close. I really do not want to die young," Caelus retorted dryly.
"If you die, I will just bring you back from the dead," Sylvia declared proudly.
"Hm." Caelus trailed off upon hearing this confidence, then he softly spoke his mind. "Correct me if I am wrong. But did we know each other before meeting at my dormitory?"
Hearing this direct question, Sylvia froze. "You really do not remember anything?"
Caelus also froze upon hearing her heartbroken tone. The fragmented memories he inherited from the original Caelus were strictly limited to the endless bullying and humiliation he had suffered at the school.
"Well," Caelus shifted, suddenly uncomfortable. It truly seemed like Sylvia and the previous Caelus had shared some deep history together. What was he supposed to say to her now?
"Forget it. It is all safely in the past. If you do not remember, then I definitely do not blame you," Sylvia replied, a soft, forgiving smile quickly returning to her face. "What matters is that we are finally together."
Caelus gave a subtle nod. He looked out at the rising moon in the sky and smoothly changed the subject. "But yes, Mods are undeniably useful. I have a feeling we might be able to significantly increase our Combat Scores by utilizing them properly."
"You are right. The monsters from that so-called Middle Expanse we encountered in the double dungeons possessed a massive amount of Combat Score."
"Well, for now, I am officially going to transfer over to your specific server. Server 513," Sylvia said with an excited chuckle. "Now that I am your official party member, I do not plan on staying in 512 anymore."
"Suit yourself then," Caelus replied with a helpless smile. "If I have you fighting alongside me, we might unlock the Endless Expanse far earlier than initially expected."
"I will buy an Origin Transfer Card from the global hub platform right now."
Yes, that was technically possible. But it was also costly. Caelus was taken aback when he heard this.
"Just how ridiculously rich are you?"
"Moderately rich," Sylvia replied with an innocent smile as a glowing Server Transfer Card directly materialized in her pale hands. She had just casually paid 15,000 Origin Credits for it!
That was when two distinct system notifications appeared beside Sylvia and Caelus.
[System: The Origin Domain is officially open.]
They both smiled knowingly upon seeing this.
"Let us go trigger our racial awakenings and then pay a visit to Allstar," Caelus spoke.
"Yes," Sylvia hummed.
As she said that, she initiated the transfer protocol. Her physical body rapidly became blurry as she left reality.
Caelus stared intently at the hidden Mod Slot tab glowing quietly in his status window, defying the normal rules. Without another word, he swiftly descended into the Origin Domain.
---
[System: You have entered the Domain.]
[System: Today is the fifth day.]
[System Announcement: Massive changes to the system have been made. Starting today, servers will officially begin merging. The first phase has been initiated. The separate servers within the same geographical district will now merge into one.] 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Boom!
The digital skies of the Domain cracked as the terrain began to rapidly shift. Soon, the entire second area of the newbie plains, along with the starting zones and the established town sectors, underwent massive, chaotic changes. New map locations, hidden dungeons, and vastly expanded territories violently popped up everywhere as the district servers forcefully began to merge into one giant, connected map.
High up in the glitched sky, multiple digital suns began to violently collide and seamlessly merge together, signaling the true beginning of the brutal server wars.
Caelus narrowed his eyes as he looked at the Town log.
[System: Player 222 (Sylvia Reign) has joined your town.]
Seeing this, Caelus heaved a sigh of relief. She made it just in time, or else he would have had to fight her server too.
Caelus’s figure flashed as he arrived back in town. Prime was already there. But next to the golden knight stood a beautiful lady in a charming dress with glowing red eyes and an extremely flawless face.
It was Sylvia.
"Where is your armor?" Sylvia tilted her head and inquired.
"Armor Diffusion Device."
"Oh, same," Sylvia replied with a blink.
"Wait, are you nervous right now?" Caelus chuckled. "Don’t you worry. Even if newbie protection is over, i will protect you."
"Thank you my knight~" Sylvia laughed and replied sweetly hearing this. "I knew i could count on you."
"But, should we not be concerned about other things? Our town will soon get attacked."
Hearing this, Caelus calmly gestured toward the perimeter wall.
Only then did Sylvia get a good glance at it.
"Mana-Reinforced Wall?" She gasped. "You managed to build one this early?"
"Of course." Caelus smiled confidently. Then he took out the Transmutation Matrices. "These are Transmutation Matrices, and I also got the blueprints for Arc-Weavers and Golems."
"But do we have an Engineer?" Sylvia tilted her head and asked.
"Of course. You are looking at one." Caelus smiled as he activated his profession card he had left.
[System: You have obtained the Engineer profession.]
[System: You have obtained the profession skill: Flash Patterning.]
[Profession: Engineer]
[Tier 1: Iron I (0/25,000 EXP)]
[Note: Creating a Common rarity item gives 5 EXP. Rare gives 25 EXP. Epic gives 250 EXP. Legendary gives 500 EXP. Mythic gives 1,000 EXP.]
[Skill: Flash Patterning]
[Description: Form a pattern-inscribing pen of pure energy to inscribe patterns into cores and quick-assemble things.]
[Cost: Each quick assemble costs 5 Mana.]
"Stay put," Caelus said as a glowing pen formed in his hand. He took the Arc-Weaver and Golem blueprints along with a blank transmutation matrix.
Chaos Axiom energy erupted from the energy pen. Complex lines resembling a Golem appeared across the core in his vision. His goal was to inscribe these intricate patterns within a strict time limit. The faster, the better. If his hand deviated even slightly, he would receive a harsh penalty. For every perfectly timed inscription, the final rarity of the core would heavily increase. He was aiming for Rare or higher!
The higher the final rarity, the higher the base stats.
But before he started drawing, he fully activated his Chaos Perception Eyes. He wanted to see if it will make a difference.
The first designated area began to blink rapidly as Caelus started the inscription process. He painstakingly traced the glowing lines with his pen. However, right before he reached the exact end, the blinking section stopped, and the second area began to blink. This meant he was just a fraction too slow for a perfect inscription.
On the second pattern, he maintained a similar, intense pace. It was the exact same for the others as well. He was just one tiny bit short of achieving absolute perfection on each stroke.
Yet, much to his surprise, the final result was still firmly in the Epic rarity tier!
