The sudden spike in the Void Levels was certainly alarming.

It's common knowledge that Void Creatures draw their strength from the void. That's why they are incredibly difficult to deal with in their home field. Each level of Void Density increases the strength, durability, and aggression of normal Void Creatures by ten percent. So if the Void Density levels suddenly spiked to level 10, it means that every creature within that area basically had their attributes doubled in an instant.

The worst part about this is that this level 10 Void Density level had then surrounded, meaning that if they somehow managed to tear a hole through space to invade the realm, the very first thing the guardians would face was the berserk void creatures that are incredibly hard to kill, accompanied by obscene amounts of Void Energy.

"Sir, the horde is here."

Nobody knows who reported this, and it's not important this time. Instead, everyone's focus was on the surveillance monitors displaying the crawling horde of Void Creatures.

They resembled a flood on the screens. Like a massive tsunami of black flood crashing through the Scarlet Division wall. The sight was horrifying, and the way they all seemingly combined into a single mass of madness-inducing monsters was even more frightening.

Chak! Chak! Chak!

Strange sounds were relayed to the speakers. It sounded like someone was chewing on glass or something like that. On the display, it could be seen that the Void Creatures, not having a proper outlet for their pent up aggression, turned into sights into the semi-invisible barrier that isolated the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm. Meaning that they're eating their way into the realm.

If this continues, there will be more holes in the wall that need to be plugged, and the guardians simply don't have enough manpower to spare right now.

"Open up the gates." Chancellor Igor's voice suddenly echoed in the command room.

All of the relevant personnel in there twisted their necks to look at him as if asking him if he's serious. But all they saw was the old Wise Dragon gearing up for battle.

He then gazed sharply at them and asked, "What? Did you not understand what I said?"

"B-but, sir—!"

"We're doing this to funnel them into our defenses instead," Chancellor Igor explained. "Instead of having them tear up holes all over the Scarlet Division Wall, we might as well direct their flow to our line of fire so we can control the damages. Our forces can't afford to be stretched too thin; we're already massively outnumbered. So, don't make me say this thrice..."

"Open the gates."

Everybody in the room took a deep breath and obeyed the order. They're not comfortable about the decision, but the Chancellor outranks them, so they have to obey his orders. Inwardly, they just convinced themselves that this was the right call. After all, it was the Wise Dragon Chancellor who dictated it.

And so, an alarm rang through the entire camp, warning them that the gates leading to the void will open up soon.

Because of this, the camp began shifting into its prime combat state. Platforms started rising, weapons that were hidden underground were revealed, shields and barriers were deployed, and soldiers were mobilized.

Everybody rushed to their position because they have to be ready to meet the enemy. Of course, the majority of them were wearing their Void Suits; even the Ancient Chaos Path practitioners were no exceptions. This was within the many precautions that Cedric instilled in them.

He told them to not show off their skills too much in front of the Void Creatures. He said that if there's ever a need for them to do so, they have to do it discreetly. He repeatedly reminded them that people like them can't make an appearance right now because it's not the time yet. That's why they're keeping a low profile. The only ones who knew about them were people who were strong enough to protect themselves and their memories from being devoured and scryed by the void.

That's why they have to blend in for now.

As the countdown rang throughout the entire camp, the severity of the situation was finally dawning on most of them. The veterans and the tenured were fine; the new ones, on the other hand... not so much. Alas, nobody can babysit them right now.

"3...2...1! The gates are now unsealed; all units, prepare to meet the enemy."

As the countdown ended, the main seal on the gates unfurled itself, and a brief silence suddenly permeated across the camp. It's like time suddenly stopped.

Then, the silence was broken by a massive discharge of black flood that crashed through the barriers of the camp. This flood was pitch black, indicating that its toxicity was at least as high as the ones present on the Heart of the Void.

What followed, of course, was the crawling mass of void creatures, roaring defiantly and aggressively towards all living creatures they saw.

"Soldiers! Open fire!"

Boom! Crack! Crack! Boom!

Shells, salvos, bullets, and all sorts of projectiles greeted the advancing horde. Within a single minute, the space between the barrier and the gate entrance has turned into a hellish battlefield filled with explosions, bursts of colorful lights, agonized roars, and raging fire.

With how many void creatures there were coming out of that gate, the soldiers didn't have any trouble hitting their target. So long as they're aiming at the general direction of where the enemy was coming, they could just shoot, and there's at least a 95% chance that they're going to hit something due to their numbers.

Back in the control room, the staff monitored the surveillance feedback. They saw that opening the gates was indeed the wise choice because with it, the horde could be funneled directly to their muzzle. And also this way, they won't have to gnaw holes into the Scarlet Division Wall.

The decision to open up the gate wasn't something that only happened to the northwestern camp. It happened to all camps, which pretty much drained the incoming horde and funneled them into a place where the guardians needed them to be.

To those who were new to the Border Patrol Office, be they the recent volunteers or the ones who were essentially forced to serve here due to public outrage, this scene was no different than hell on earth.

Seeing the ferocious and repugnant existence of the Void Creatures evoked a new kind of fear within them.

Most of them have heard tales of them by now; some even shared their experiences containing victories and tragedies. Also, there's the short video clip that was leaked to the Virtual Network back then.

And from all of this, they could already tell just how terrible Void Creatures were. But seeing them in person gave them a more profound measure of just how much of a threat they were to the realm.

These things made them feel disgusted on a soul level. Their mere existence evoked a unique type of loathing and fear within them, filling them with a righteous instinct to get rid of them.

Still, they have to remain cognizant of where they stand in this battlefield, and that's behind the barriers, not out there engaging the horde in a fierce melee like the Paragons.

The horde was a nightmare turned real. It's hard to imagine that there are creatures like these out there, yet here they are, and they are very real as they are dangerous.

This, this is the nightmare that the Border Patrol Guardians had to constantly face to protect the realm. It's these creatures that ruthlessly harvested many lives. It's these creatures that showed no bias and mercy to the realm or living beings. So long as it's created within the Primordial Chaos, they hate them all the same.

Of course, with the void density level spiking to 10, these creatures became even harder to kill. Even after punching numerous holes in their bodies, enduring all sorts of wounds, burns, and scars, some of these creatures were still standing and steadily marching forward.

If it weren't for the weapons of the camp built to specifically be more lethal against void creatures, it'd be difficult to say if this camp could survive this.

Additionally, the nonstop discharge of pitch-black void energy since the seal was peeled off from the gates. The fact that the camp still wasn't completely submerged was already a miracle.

No soldier has sustained any injuries so far, but it wouldn't take long before there will be. After all, with so much already happening, it was so easy to disregard the time and realize that it hasn't even been 10 minutes since this all began.

This is what the Border Patrol Guardians faced regularly. This is their duty, the reason why they didn't hesitate to serve. They are serving for a purpose way bigger than anyone else in the entire realm. It's why they are hailed as heroes and treated with utmost respect wherever they go.

It's the reason why the alliance flourished. Without them, the entirety of the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm could've been in shambles now.
