[A/N: Let's leave Cedric in that cocoon for now; he'll be fine. Instead, how about we see how his children are doing? ]

Gerald walked amidst the seemingly endless blanket of white snow at a calm and brisk pace.

From his gait, it was clear he wasn't affected by the harsh and cold environment. His breath wasn't even misty. The pile of endless snow didn't slow him down either.

It was a stark difference compared to the people around him, who were shivering and doing their best to stay awake as they trod these dangerously cold lands.

"Are we nearly there?" I—I don't think I'm nearly all spent," said one of his companions.

This one was a beastkin. It's a big fellow who had a lion head and muscular humanoid body. He's wearing leather armor made from his prey, and there's a large axe slung behind him. Though he's covered from head to toe and he has thick fur, none of it stopped the biting cold from affecting him. He might as well be considered naked here.

"We have about...a thousand miles left before we reach our destination." Another one replied to the lion-headed guy, "How about we rest for a bit? I think we really need it."

This one was a female. She looked like a human who was wearing a veil that covered the bottom half of her face. Her figure was alluring and enchanting, and the layers of capes and coats could barely hide this. It's not that she's vain; there just seems to be an illusion or an aura around her that attracts other people's attention to her.

"Not trying to be mean or whatever, but where exactly do any of you see where we could camp out? That's the first thing. The second thing is that, even if we could camp out, what about it? It's not like the cold will stop from pestering us. I'm pretty sure the moment we rest would also be the moment we lose our qualifications to remain here."

The one who spoke just now was a Holy Spirit. Unlike others, he didn't bother putting on layers of clothes in attempts to stave off the cold because he knew that it would be of no use anyway.

Hearing his words, the others could only grumble reluctantly. Whether they like it or not, he's not wrong.

There's not a single spot here suitable for them to camp out. It's just an endless blanket of knee-deep snow and nothing else. And yes, even if they could make a camp somehow, what about it? It won't stop the cold from eroding their stamina, endurance, and consciousness.

Fires have been rendered invalid here. In this secret realm, no fire can exist; it's the unique stipulation and law in here, and that's something that none of them could defy.

Without fire, they can't warm up and regain their energy. Relying on rations wasn't enough, given how the cold clung to them like a lifeline.

"So what do we do, then? Give up?" Their last member asked, sounding a little too hopeful despite his words. "I mean, I wouldn't mind. How about you guys?"

This one was a creature known as a Slyphid—their small, ethereal creatures born from the elements themselves; this one in particular was born of the storm and gale, their practically elemental spirits. Though, even as a Sylphid, not even she can endure the biting cold of this place.

"Well...I mean, I don't see us succeeding, so...why not?" The Lion Head hesitantly said.

"Speak for yourself." The attractive lady rolled her eyes. "Why don't you take a look at Gerald first and see if he's included in that vision of yours?"

This prompted the rest of the group to look at the innocent Gerald, who could only smile wryly at this.

The comparison really made them look bad. Because while all of them were having a difficult time, Gerald didn't even look bothered by this environment. If anything, one could even say that he's enjoying it.

"Right, of course he'd be fine. Yin and Yang Polarity Physique...how enviable." The Holy Spirit dude sighed in envy.

The so-called Yin and Yang Polarity Physique was a unique physical constitution that reverses harmful elements into beneficial ones under the influence of the yin and yang polar laws. Meaning that, in this specific case, the harsh cold air that's eroding everybody else felt like a warm and sunny breeze to Gerald instead. This was the secret behind his 'immunity' and 'unbotheredness' in this place.

Gerald wasn't born with this physique. This was something that came to him as he carefully laid his foundations for his life evolution.

While it could be said that the Yin and Yang Polarity Physique can be cultivated, there are strict requirements to get started: first is talent, then insights and achievements between polar opposite concept laws (in Gerald's case, that would be ice and fire), and finally, a strong physique.

Not everybody could fulfill this requirement. Moreover, even if they could, the dedication and effort needed to activate the physique could be too much to handle. Which is why it's even more astonishing that Gerald manifested this physique without even trying. Hell, he didn't even know he had this type of physique until somebody pointed it out for him.

Obviously, this physique does more than just convert cold to heat. It's so much more than that, and Gerald is still exploring its limits.

"I'll go with whatever you guys decide," Gerald stated.

Truthfully, whether they fail here or continue to push on until they succeed doesn't make too much difference to him. This wasn't his idea in the first place, and there's nothing here that really piques his interest.

Yes, that includes the inheritance that his friends were trying to reach here. At most, it'll give him an inspiration but nothing more, so he doesn't particularly value it.

"With a thousand-mile distance between us and the inheritance...and considering our state, save for Gerald obviously, yeah...this won't work. Let's leave and warm up on the ship instead, yeah?" The Sylphid suggested.

His suggestion struck a chord with the others. The idea of returning to the ship to warm up, enjoy a freshly cooked meal, and a warm bed sounds really tempting right now. Especially since for about a month now, all they've seen was just an endless blanket of snow.

"B-But, we're so close!" The attractive lady sounded a little resistant to the idea.

"Yes, we are, but so what?" The sylphid sighed, "Alright, let's say we arrive there. What are the chances that this place would allow us to just fetch the inheritance without any interference, hm? Come on, tell me."

"..."

"Right? Zero. Nada. There will certainly be a test there of some sort. Now, except for Gerald, are we in any condition to pass the test to claim the inheritance? Will they even give it to us completely? I sincerely doubt it; there must be a catch, which means more trouble. This is, after all, an inheritance left by a Cosmic Level expert. There will be strings attached, I can almost guarantee it."

"Alright, okay! Stop talking! I get it," the attractive lady grumbled.

"Okay, so we leave then?" The holy spirit guy looked at Gerald in a way that seemed to be asking for his opinion.

"Like I said, I'll go with whatever you guys decide." Gerald repeated his words from earlier with a light shrug this time.

The holy spirit dude looked at the other and asked, "So we forfeit?"

"Yes."

It was a unanimous decision among them because they know they can't really last any longer. They took out something that looked like a crystal ball. Crushing this crystal will take them out of the realm and back to safety.

However, before Gerald could take out his, the Holy Spirit dude grabbed his arm and said, "I think you should stay and continue."

Gerald raised a brow and asked, "Why?"

"Well, because you have better chances than us, duh!" The sylphid snorted on the side, interjecting a bit rudely.

The holy spirit dude glared at her for a bit, then looked at Gerald.

"As crude as this thing's words were—"

"Hey!"

"—She's right. This place is a walk in a park to you, so you should try to claim the inheritance."

"Gerald, we know that you don't need this. We can also tell you don't really want this, either. You're just being polite to us, which is why you accompanied us here. But I still think that you should go and continue without us, because even if it doesn't help you much, it can still give you some insights for your future cultivation," the attractive lady told him.

"She's right," the Lion Head chimed in. "We've already slowed down your progress. We don't want to be too much of a burden to you."

"Besides, despite the rumors about the owner of this realm, it doesn't change the fact that they're still a Cosmic Level expert, and their insights will be helpful to you. So yeah, go for it." The sylphid encouraged, "No need to hold yourself back on our account."

A tiny, almost imperceptible smile appeared on Gerald's face as he said,

"Alright, I'll give it a shot. It shouldn't take me long. I'll see you guys back at the ship."
