Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson-Chapter 226: Razor Thorns Whip
Aldros Empire, Leonard’s Palace Library
"What is your intention, Seth?" Spencer emerged from a portal and questioned.
Seth, who was calmly reading a book by the desk, remained silent. It appeared as if he was immersed in the book and couldn’t hear Spencer’s words.
Annoyed, Spencer stomped his foot and quickly shot a few strands of mana toward him.
Swoosh!
As the mana strands came close to hitting Seth, they were ultimately dispelled by a transparent barrier.
"Still so prone to violence." Seth closed the book and placed it on the desk. "Can’t you speak calmly and not resort to violence immediately?"
"Speak calmly?" Spencer rolled his eyes. With a huff, he sat across from him and glared fiercely.
"Why did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Don’t act ignorant!"
Seth smiled lightly and shook his head. "I have done many things in the past days. If you don’t tell me exactly what I did, how would I know what you’re asking about?"
"..."
Spencer took a deep breath and specified his question. "The incident in Velastra. Why did you expose yourself to the Crown Prince?"
"I didn’t, though." Seth mused and shifted his sight to the large windows. "I only gave a little hint to the Crown Prince as a reward for discovering a piece I planted 7 years ago."
"Discover?" Spencer slammed his palm on the desk.
"Don’t think I’m really that ignorant. A piece you planted 7 years ago without being discovered is suddenly spotted? And by that useless Wesley of all people??!"
Seth didn’t deny the statement. Instead, he retrieved a small piece of paper and placed it on the desk.
Spencer glanced at the paper in confusion.
Seth didn’t speak further and simply used his eyes to gesture to Spencer to read it.
’Tsk, I want to see what the content could be.’ Spencer grabbed the paper in an instant and opened it to read it. Soon, his pupils were constricted by the content.
"T-This is..." He stood up in alarm.
"Relax, I had people intercept the news already." Seth waved his hand to calm him down.
"Now, do you still think that I was in the wrong to hand over Jeff to the Crown Prince?"
Spencer took a deep breath and shook his head. The content of the paper was regarding the underground slum operation.
Although the factions within the underground slum were worthless, the power behind them wasn’t simple.
"Why hasn’t the Crown Prince returned yet?" Spencer frowned. "The middleman has been captured already. What else is there to do in Velastra?"
"What else?" Seth chuckled and grabbed his book. "The Crown Prince is starting to enter the political game and wishes to build his own forces. By now, he’s probably quite distrustful of us and has doubts about the Crimson Guards."
"Hmph, the Crimson Guards were established solely for the Crown Prince. And you just had to make it seem like it cannot be trusted." Spencer’s mood quickly soured. He couldn’t understand Seth’s mindset.
Was it really necessary to make Leonard paranoid and distrustful?
"I’ll say... Can you stop being so childish whenever it comes to the Crown Prince?" Seth knitted his brows.
"There’s a reason why the Lady placed me in charge and not you."
With the "Lady" being brought up, Spencer could only swallow every grievance he had into his stomach.
After all, the Lady was referred to by none other than Leonard’s birth mother, Clarisse Lawson.
"Using Lady to suppress me again. How unethical of you." Spencer hissed.
"Never be afraid of using the same trick if it works wonderfully." Seth shrugged.
"But you’re right, it’s about time for the Crown Prince to return." He continued and snapped his fingers.
Soon, a powerful gust of wind shot straight through the open window and disappeared in the distance.
"I’ll make the arrangement too." Spencer stood up and excused himself. There were quite a few rats who had gotten courageous and required some lessons.
As Spencer vanished from the spot, Seth could only shake his head.
"Going for another butcher again. How exhausting was that?" He resumed his reading.

Wuh-PSSSH!
"UGH!" Ted screamed in agony as pieces of his flesh were stripped brutally from his skin. His upper part was completely exposed and filled with many whip marks.
"Speak, why did you ambush them?" Standing opposite Ted was none other than Curtis, whose face was extremely cold.
Ted gritted his teeth, his eyes extremely hazy.
He glanced at Curtis with an exhausted look. "I’ve told you that I didn’t work for anyone..."
WHOOSH!
Another round of whipping was made, and Ted grunted in pain. These whips were built with special material. To ensure maximum pain, it was embedded with Razor Thorns, which had the effect of nullifying vitality recovery rate.
"Still dare to lie in front of me?" Curtis scoffed and retrieved a pile of documents. He then tossed them straight to Ted’s bloodied face.
"These are your travel documents. You didn’t go to the underground slum by chance, but on purpose."
Faced with the pile of papers on the floor, Ted remained silent.
Curtis didn’t care about his silence and continued his monologue. "You’re lustful and have a history of staying in a brothel for half a year. One could say it’s a good excuse that you were aroused by their appearance and wanted them. Unfortunately, you were too hasty, almost as if you’re afraid of something being discovered."
Ted’s body shuddered slightly.
’H-he can’t possibly know the truth...’ Ted panicked internally.
He thought Curtis was bluffing him until a voice echoed from the exit.
"He’s staying quiet because the person he wanted to cover is someone who has been distributing the Berserk Substance." Leonard entered the torture room and gazed at Ted with an indifferent expression.
"You’re working on behalf of my Fourth Brother, Sylas Viren, right?"
Ted’s pupils constricted. He was visibly shaken when he heard the young man utter Sylas Viren as the fourth brother.
’Why is the Crown Prince here?’ Ted froze on the spot.
