Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 220: Brothers
Inside Cardan’s room.
’’Was this made to hold my princess captive?" Aleister glanced at the pond in Cardan’s room.
’’To torture inside the place of her liking for visual pleasure,’’ Cardan sat back on the bed, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Aleister glanced at the man and without speaking a word, he raised his hand and pointed his finger towards the pond.
A golden streak shot out of his finger and landed straight at the pond with a loud ’crash’. The water caught fire as the flower and candle decoration atop it gradually started withering away.
"I can see your powers are recovering well."
Aleister glanced at his hand, nodding quietly.
Cardan sighed, ’’This is the first time you came to my room yet you had to damage my things,’’ he glanced at the man, ’’That’s not how an elder brother is supposed to behave.’’
’’If I was not behaving like an elder brother so far then would you be breathing after having designs on Esme?" Aleister crossed his arms in front of his chest too, his expressions mirroring his brother’s, lazy and casual.
Cardan sighed, ’’I never executed those plans that I had for her.’’
’’The reason for your existence so far,’’ Aleister smiled but his smile did not reach his eyes.
Cardan raised a brow, ’’Are you saying you would have erased my existence had I done anything to her?"
"You can try me but I’d prefer it if you don’t,’’ Aleister said, his brows tugged together slightly, ’’I don’t want to kill you.’’
Cardan smiled, pushing himself to his feet as he walked towards the man before he pounced on him, ’’Drop the act now.’’
Aleister staggered back by the impact but he patted the man’s back, ’’Don’t cling.’’
’’I know you love me, brother,’’ Cardan laughed, their amicable stance would have stunned anyone in the castle if they witnessed the view of Cardan and Aleister hugging each other.
For they had only seen both the men pointing swords at each other’s throats so far.
"You fulfilled your words but it seems like you lost the beauty,’’ Aleister stroked Cardan’s back, a rare affectionate gleam in his eyes remained as he pulled back from the man.
’’I brought your woman to you but I was painted as the evil person here,’’ Cardan glanced at the closed door from where Luciana had left.
’’You can tell her everything,’’ Aleister said, following his gaze.
’’There is nothing between us,’’ Cardan glanced at Aleister, changing the direction of the topic, ’’Will she stay here for you? She does not even remember anything.’’
At the mention of Esme, Aleister’s gaze turned nostalgic. She looked at him like he was a stranger.
Back when he felt like he was dying, something strange happened.
One moment, Aleister felt like he was heaving his last breath in Esme’s arms, and in the next moment, he found himself lying in this castle.
What he was certain of was that it had something to do with Leo but how? He did not know. Leo had been with him for as long as he could remember and the beast had always been a mystery to him.
He lost consciousness and the next time when he opened his eyes, 6 months had passed. His body was so weak that he could barely feel anything.
Unfamiliar faces, unfamiliar surroundings...
The only two people he was familiar with were Cardan, the person he did not trust, and Atlas, the man who was supposedly his father, the person he was familiar with because he read about him and he heard about him from others, especially from his wife.
Aleister’s powers were unstable and he was told that they need the guise of a blessing ceremony to recover his powers properly. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
His father looked at him like he was seeing his mother in him like he wanted to make up for the old times.
And Aleister did not care. It was not his place to care for people or the mistakes they made. He did not have a heart of gold.
The circumstances of his mother when she was alive made his heart ache but she made every decision for herself. As tragic as it was, it was all their decisions that were making them suffer.
A husband neglecting his wife for the woman who was his lover in his past life. It was a triangle of pain and sorrow that was bound to face its doom from the beginning of the tale.
Instead of thinking about the past, Aleister decided to get his powers back before thinking about the next step.
His father made an exchange with him, letting him know that in exchange for his powers, he will need to ascend his throne after him.
Despite his displeasure, Aleister accepted it with a smile because without his powers, he would never be able to do what he wanted to do.
The damage that Marilyn’s black magic had caused him was only going to cleanse with the help of the powers of the main gods.
During his stay in the Dark Castle, he looked through the library and found more about the mers. About the existence of half-mers like Esme who were neither fully humans nor mermaids. Hence, he understood that if she transformed into her real form, she would never remember him.
And possibly, she was not going to remember anything about their old times during her whole life.
He thought he accepted the fact.
He thought he would be fine with it.
But when she looked at him like he was a stranger to her, despite every coaxing word he had uttered to his heart, he felt the ache deep in his bones.
His sweet Princess had no recollection of him and if the death did not scare him, then this terrified him from the depth of his soul.
Cardan sighed, ’’Father won’t let you go after her and I doubt she will stay here. My mother is in cultivation for a month. After she wakes up...’’
Aleister raised a hand, interrupting the man’s words.
It was a fact that in the past, he never trusted Cardan.
But he did not hate him either.
