Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 360: The main gods
Growing up, Cardan had believed that it was just the nature of the heavenly realm. The humans never wondered about the existence of the moon or sun and just like that, the beings in heaven had no reason to ponder about the absence of the moon, or the presence of the stars.
Cardan glanced at Rezeph, the question in his eyes apparent as the man’s words got his attention.
Rezeph supported the side of his head with two fingers as he spoke, ’’The stars in the heavenly realm are not stars.’’
His words descended in the sea court followed by a lingering silence that was filled with tension.
He observed their response before opening his mouth to speak again, ’’A long time ago...’’
Even before the existence of the different realms, or the divine powers, there used to be one sole power in the centre. The heavenly realm was not elaborate with different gods or different factions. There were two deities, two main gods and one throne where the siblings ruled together their subjects.
’’Deities?" Aleister frowned. While he had heard about their existences but never once had he come across them during his stay in heaven and if the direction of his thoughts were not misleading him then he believed that the two main gods that were mentioned were no longer in existence or else there would not be the five existing main gods now.
If such powerful entities would have been alive then the powers in the realms would not have been fragmented and there would have been an order in the world which ceased to exist now.
Rezeph nodded at Elder Hall who stood up from the throne chair and explained, ’’The brother and sister were a harmonious pair. They made decisions together and they ruled the world together. They balanced each other in every aspect, be it their powers or be it the decisions they made.’’
Some clueless people who knew about the existence of main gods believed there was only one main god who was superior of all but most of them did not know that there were not one but two main gods, a pair of brother and sister who were born by a strange phenomenon of the natural elements conjuring over centuries. They were the supreme ones.
However, Elder Hall who looked like a plain old man was a being who had survived for centuries, even before Rezeph and the other gods came into existence so he knew things that most people were unaware of.
"When the main gods came into existence by that powerful phenomenon, the world was like a desert. Stretch upon stretch of lands but not a single being in sight. The brother and sister, together, brought the beings like us into existence and in return, we swore allegiance to them. They held enormous powers, powers that controlled the cycles the world. When the main gods opened their eyes, the world witnessed day and when they closed them, it led to the night time. Everything seemed to be in great harmony until it was not.
One day, a great fight erupted between the pair where the brother slapped his sister in front of their subjects in the heavenly court. The conflicts between them intensified till eventually they sought to destroy each other.’’
Elder Hall seemed to be reminiscing a distant memory which had turned vague in his mind. He barely had any recollection of the events that transpired back then but certain incidents were deeply engraved in his mind, ’’When the final battle between them took place, they shielded us with their powers to protect us. All I remember is a long battle before an eruption shook the skies and a blinding light blocked our vision. When we opened our eyes, both the gods exploded in front of our eyes and their powers erupted in the sky like dust, resembling stars.’’
Elder Hall glanced at Rezeph as he continued, ’’As the years passed, those stars lingered, never once showing signs of dispersing even though the essence and powers of the main gods were long gone. But there was more chaos between the mortals, the demons and immortals regarding who would hold the ultimate supremacy. When the world was about to go into disorder again, new powers were born.’’
As it turned out, the powers of the main gods had dispersed like specks of dust but their divine powers were so holy that they did not disseminate. Instead, they gave birth to new powers.
’’Your father is one of the bearers of divine powers," he said while looking at Aleister and Cardan, "And so is His Majesty. The divine powers that they possess is a tiny part of the powers of the main gods that was disseminated during their battle and manifesting these gods with divine powers,’’ Elder Hall concluded.
The four people listened to the tale attentively and there was a hint of marvel in their eyes by the time Elder Hall stopped speaking, especially for Luciana and Esme.
Unlike Cardan, they were not very accustomed with the heavenly realm and they had not spent a long time there nor could they remain unmoved and poker-faced like Aleister while hearing about such an enchanting tale.
But for some reason, there was a growing unease in Esme’s heart\.
She grasped Aleister’s hand.
Aleister turned to look at her and as their eyes met, something akin to understanding flashed in them. They did not have to speak to communicate their feelings.
Aleister gave her a reassuring look but Esme could not put the heavy feelings in her heart aside.
She turned to look at Rezeph, eyes filled with questions but the man pretended to not have noticed her gaze at all.
Elder Hall looked at the youths present in the sea court and inhaled a deep breath before continuing, ’’When the main gods fell, the place where they battled disappeared as well. A piece of heaven fell alongside them. That land was where the castle of the main gods was situated. The lady main god was fond of creating things. During leisurely moments, she would utilize her powers to create artifacts to play around with. But the objects she treated as toys, to us, would be like a bottomless pot of treasures and artifacts that can make one invincible. Such were the powers she possessed..."
