Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 142: Sienna, Our Game Has Only Just Begun
Hearing that voice, Chloe Nash stiffened with fright.
Those beautiful almond-shaped eyes shimmered with a trace of panic.
Her thick eyelashes trembled violently from nervousness.
She suddenly pushed Silas Prescott away, stammering, "I—I clearly slept with Julian last night. It must have been you who carried me over here."
Silas let out a low chuckle. "You locked your door from the inside last night. How could I get in? Must be you were craving my body and sneaked into my room while I was asleep."
He sat up, leaned close to Chloe’s ear, his voice still raspy from sleep.
"I dreamed someone kissed me last night. Was that person you?"
His voice was like a faint electric current, tingling as it seeped into Chloe’s eardrums.
Terrified, she quickly got out of bed. "Nonsense! I absolutely didn’t!"
Chloe couldn’t figure out what had actually happened.
She definitely locked her door last night for safety.
Besides, if Silas had carried her over—given how lightly she sleeps—she would have woken up for sure.
Did she end up sleepwalking here after returning to the Prescott Family and being reminded of so many memories?
When Chloe got tense, she did have this problem.
Thinking about that possibility, Chloe clenched her hem nervously.
She absolutely couldn’t let Silas realize she’d come over sleepwalking, or he’d definitely get suspicious.
Chloe pretended to be calm: "I went downstairs for water last night. Maybe I came back and entered the wrong room, but I didn’t do anything to you."
At those words, Silas smiled meaningfully.
Just as he expected—guilty conscience of a thief.
His Sienna was so quick to admit she came in herself, just to cover up her sleepwalking.
He laughed softly. "Did nothing? Then who was just hugging me so tightly?"
She knew it—the moment Silas caught her, he’d pester her relentlessly.
Irritated, Chloe bit her lip. "I just thought you were a body pillow, that’s all. Don’t overthink it."
"But you’ve hugged me, so now I’m tainted. Dr. Nash, aren’t you going to take responsibility?"
Chloe shot him a vicious glare. "I didn’t sleep with you, so what’s ’tainted’ about you? Remember, it’s the twenty-first century now—even if I really slept with you, it’s just a game between adults. It doesn’t mean anything."
Silas strode over, bent down to look at her: "Then why not play that game with me sometime? I’m looking forward to it."
Chloe kicked him. "Look forward to hell!"
With that, she stormed off in a huff.
Seeing the door slam, Silas’s lips curled into an even wilder smile.
"Sienna, our game has only just begun."
After washing up, Chloe dashed off before Julian Prescott even woke up.
Old Master Prescott called out to her, "Dr. Nash, have breakfast before you go!"
Chloe waved hurriedly, "Grandpa Prescott, I have surgery in a bit. I won’t eat, I’ll head out now."
"I’ll have the driver take you."
"No need, my friend is picking me up."
She finished speaking and jogged away.
Old Master Prescott looked puzzled. "Why is that child so jumpy today? Not like before at all."
Silas responded lazily, "Maybe she did something guilty."
The old man squinted at him coldly. "Did you bully her?"
"Wouldn’t dare."
"You better not. Or I’ll break your damn leg."
If Chloe really was Sienna Paxton, he couldn’t let this brat torment her anymore.
Otherwise, he’d have no face to meet Sienna’s grandpa.
Chloe got into Caden Sinclair’s car; her heart was still pounding hard.
Caden glanced at her in concern. "Why are you so nervous? Did Silas do something to you?"
Chloe shook her head, "No. It’s just that this place feels too familiar. If it hadn’t rained last night, I wouldn’t have stayed over."
"You shouldn’t have gone with him last night anyway. Even without you, Julian got by for four years."
"I just—when I heard he was scared of thunder, I thought of my baby. Maybe if the baby had lived, he’d be just like Julian, afraid of loud noises too."
Caden sighed helplessly. "Sienna, you can’t keep seeing Julian as your baby. If this goes on, you really won’t be able to leave."
Of course Chloe knew—her feelings for Julian seemed to be getting deeper and deeper.
Whenever he got hurt, her heart ached unbearably.
Last night, when she sang for Julian, it felt like she’d been transported back to the time when her baby was still alive.
For a moment, all she wished was that the child in her arms was truly her own son.
Chloe’s eyes grew a little damp. "I’ll do my best to keep it in check."
Seeing her like this, Caden comfortingly patted her head. "Enough, let’s not dwell on it. One step at a time. I’ll take you to get real lamb offal soup—the broth is delicious, the aftertaste sticks with you."
Chloe smiled. "I’m really lucky to have you guys around."
Whether it was Caden, Albie Kane, or Jett Sterling, right now they were all looking out for her with everything they had.
The Nash Family parents treated her like their own daughter.
She really enjoyed her life now—friends, family.
She didn’t want them hurt. She had to figure out how to protect them.
——
In less than a week, the R&D lab was officially put into use.
Silas brought a few of the company’s research staff to move in for good.
On the hospital side, besides Chloe, several doctors from other departments joined, including Caden Sinclair.
For the first R&D meeting, many medical leaders attended, along with reporters from different media.
Silas himself gave the presentation.
He combined AI technology perfectly with the challenges of surgery.
If this succeeds, it will be a huge asset to the medical community.
Standing on stage, Silas used his expertise to wow everyone present.
Someone couldn’t help but marvel, "President Prescott really is a leader in technology. If this smart robot comes out, it’ll be a massive contribution to our field."
Chloe watched Silas onstage patiently answering experts’ questions, and she was swept back into the past.
This dazzling Silas Prescott was exactly why the teenage Sienna Paxton once fell for him.
Back then, she thought Silas was the most perfect man in the world.
But later, she learned that behind perfection, some fatal flaws were hidden.
Caden saw Chloe zoning out and nudged her gently.
"What’s on your mind? Don’t tell me you’re getting charmed by Silas again."
Chloe gave a subtle smile. "No, I just think if this research succeeds, we won’t be so exhausted in the future."
Caden said, "I always feel Silas is doing all this because of you."
"No way. The person he loves is Sienna. He doesn’t need to do this for me."
"It’s a guy’s intuition. Seems like his motives aren’t so pure. Just be careful."
As they talked, suddenly someone asked, "President Prescott, if this robot is successful, it’ll shake up the medical field. There are already the likes of Xiaodu, Xiaodi, Xiaai on the market. What will you name this one?"
Silas’s deep gaze drifted toward Chloe Nash.
In the cool depths of his eyes, pain flickered.
"Her name is Sunny. I hope that light which once lit up my life can return to me again."
