Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 146: Moved by Silas Prescott’s Words
Silas Prescott’s dark eyes carried an overwhelming sense of oppression as they fixed intently on Stella Sterling.
The depths of his eyes held an unconcealable chill.
Stella’s heart was gripped by sudden fear.
Silas Prescott appeared calm yet possessed a terrifying madness that made one’s skin crawl.
Stella’s voice trembled: "Brother Silas, I-I don’t know what’s going on."
Silas Prescott’s smile was sinister: "Since you don’t know, I won’t hold back. This person used online rumors to make people misunderstand our relationship, which has caused Sienna great harm. I think she’s definitely angry with me now. So, to cheer her up, I can only punish the one spreading rumors. From now on, all partnerships between the Prescott Family and the Aldrich Family are canceled."
Upon hearing this, Jenna Aldrich hurriedly looked at Stella Sterling in panic: "Stella, please beg for mercy for me. If the Prescott Family cancels the partnership with the Aldrich Family, my dad will kill me."
She stepped forward and grabbed Stella’s arm, but was mercilessly shaken off.
"Don’t beg me; you brought this upon yourself by provoking Brother Silas."
Seeing Stella turn her back, Jenna Aldrich sneered: "Stella, are you planning to make me take the blame for this? I’m no fool."
She showed her phone’s chat records to Silas Prescott: "President Prescott, Stella Sterling asked me to do this. She wanted to use public opinion to force you into agreeing to marry her. This is the evidence."
Looking at those chat records, Silas Prescott’s gaze was cold as he looked at Stella Sterling.
"Miss Sterling, do you think I’m someone who can be easily controlled? My marriage has always been my decision, when was it your turn to speak!"
His voice was as cold as ice and snow, chilling to the bone.
Stella Sterling, frightened, quickly ran to Henry Prescott’s side, pitifully calling out: "Uncle Prescott."
Henry Prescott patted the back of her hand and said: "Don’t be afraid, Uncle will speak for you."
He glared coldly at Silas Prescott: "As the head of the Prescott Family, you don’t even get to decide your marriage. The union between the Prescott Family and the Sterling Family has already been arranged. You have no choice, not to mention Sienna’s current uncertain fate, even if she’s alive, I will never allow her to step into the Prescott Family."
Facing his father’s authority, Silas Prescott remained indifferent.
He calmly looked at Henry Prescott: "Whether Sienna can enter the Prescott Family is not up to you to decide. Twenty years ago, when you chose to abandon me, you lost all rights to interfere in my life."
Henry Prescott’s face turned dark with anger as he pointed at Silas Prescott and shouted: "Ungrateful child, are you trying to anger me to death?"
Silas Prescott completely ignored his reaction and walked past him towards the hall exit.
The guests at the scene were all abuzz with discussions.
Everyone was curious about what Silas Prescott’s words meant.
What really happened in the Prescott Family twenty years ago?
Chloe Nash was equally curious.
She had stayed at the Prescott Family for so many years, yet had never heard of this.
Under what circumstances did Henry Prescott abandon Silas, causing such deep-seated hatred?
In the past, Sienna thought that the poor relationship between Silas Prescott and Henry Prescott was entirely due to the stepmother’s instigation.
Now it seemed that the issue was not that simple.
Thinking that Silas Prescott also experienced the feeling of being abandoned by family, Chloe Nash felt a kinship in her heart.
She understood how deeply it wounds a child.
Seeing her distressed expression, Caden Sinclair poured her another drink, "Moved by Silas Prescott’s words?"
Chloe Nash shook her head: "Not at all."
"It’s best not to be. This might just be Silas Prescott’s trap, deliberately wanting you to slip up. Don’t fall for it."
"I know," Chloe Nash stood up, "I’m heading to the restroom."
Chloe Nash stood in front of the mirror, washing her face multiple times, yet couldn’t suppress the feelings within.
Silas Prescott’s actions today indeed startled her.
What must she do to make Silas Prescott let go of Sienna?
Chloe Nash returned home, took a bath, lay in bed, and couldn’t sleep despite tossing and turning.
Her mind was filled with images of Silas Prescott confessing to Sienna.
There was a moment when her resolute heart wavered.
But remembering Silas Prescott’s obsessive possessiveness towards her, Chloe Nash suppressed that emotion again.
She had barely escaped that suffocating cage; she can never step back in.
Chloe Nash put on headphones and listened to some light music, slowly feeling sleepiness creeping in.
In her dreams, she seemed to return to the days with Silas Prescott.
She saw a little calico cat at the school gate, frail and with a crippled leg.
Upon spotting it, she found it was on the ground eating snacks that others had dropped.
The snacks were spicy, making it spin in small circles, yet it wouldn’t let go.
Sienna felt sorry and took out some food from her backpack to feed it.
The kitten immediately came over upon seeing the food.
Its meowing was pitiful.
From then on, every time Sienna went home from school, she would bring something to feed the kitten.
Because she felt that the kitten, lacking a home and family, alone wandering the world was incredibly pitiful.
If she wasn’t taken home by Grandpa Prescott, she might be just like this kitten, struggling alone in the world.
Sienna squatted down and watched the kitten eating: "Little Calico, when I graduate and have my own place, I’ll bring you home and raise you, never letting you suffer anymore, alright?"
The kitten meowed at her a few times.
That day, she got so engrossed playing with the kitten that she forgot her appointment with Silas Prescott.
She arrived home fifteen minutes late.
As soon as she entered, Silas Prescott grabbed her wrist, pinned her against the wall, and bit her earlobe while asking.
"Sienna was talking to that senior again and forgot about me."
Sienna was startled and begged: "Not the senior, it was a kitten. I felt sorry and fed it something."
Silas Prescott laughed leaning against her shoulder, his warm breath on Sienna’s earlobe causing shivers.
"Sienna, am I less important than a kitten in your heart? You forgot me because of it?"
"Brother, I won’t feed it again next time, please spare me."
"Sienna is so disobedient, I must punish you well, so you remember."
With that, he bent down and took Sienna into the bathroom, pointing at the mirror on the wall: "Sienna, this mirror was a gift from me. Now you can see yourself."
He slowly lowered his head to capture her lips.
That time, Sienna truly witnessed Silas Prescott’s madness.
Sienna didn’t know how long it took before she fell asleep.
When she woke, it was already noon the next day.
She dragged her exhausted body to class.
Upon sitting down, a classmate whispered to her, "Sienna, the kitten you often fed is dead."
Hearing this, Sienna’s eyes widened in shock.
Several seconds passed before she asked: "I fed it yesterday, how could it be dead?"
"I’m not sure, I passed by there this morning and saw it lying in a pool of blood. Later, the sanitation worker took it away. I even took a photo, take a look."
When Sienna saw the photo, her heart clenched.
She saw Silas Prescott’s silhouette not far from the kitten in the photo.
