Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 8: He’s Your Husband
Silas Prescott’s heart tightened as well.
An unrealistic thought began to appear in his mind.
A rare tension flowed from those originally deep-set eyes, and his voice dropped to a husky tone.
"How did you know I’m allergic to mangoes?"
He didn’t know about this before; his parents never cared after he was born.
As for what he liked, or what he was allergic to, no one knew.
It was just later, when Sienna insisted on feeding him mango, that he took a bite.
That time, he experienced a brief shock.
Sienna was so frightened she held him and cried, even calling for emergency help.
It was then he found out he had a severe allergy to mangoes.
The slightest mishap could be life-threatening.
Facing his questioning, Chloe Nash’s grip on the menu tightened.
She was used to not ordering mango juice when with Silas Prescott.
But quickly, she feigned indifference and raised an eyebrow: "Mr. Prescott is also allergic to mangoes?"
Silas Prescott stared at Chloe Nash for a few seconds: "You’re allergic to mangoes too?"
"Yes, I’ve been allergic to mangoes since childhood, very severely, to the point of hospitalization."
She was speaking about the real Chloe Nash.
To avoid Silas Prescott discovering any flaws, all her habits now mimicked Chloe Nash’s.
Sienna’s preferences had long disappeared in her.
Silas Prescott seemed deflated, the tension in his expression suddenly collapsed.
He stood up and said: "I’m going out for a smoke."
Watching him leave, Chloe Nash’s face showed a trace of bitterness.
She had deliberately said that.
Her purpose was to interrupt all of Silas Prescott’s fantasies.
Julian Prescott was very enthusiastic, helping Chloe Nash with her cutlery, pouring water, very attentive.
Chloe Nash smilingly pinched his cheek: "You don’t have to take care of me, I can manage myself."
Julian Prescott took her phone and started typing.
[I’m a boy, so I should take care of girls.]
Chloe Nash nodded: "Alright, then thank you for taking care of me."
Julian Prescott typed again on the screen: [Auntie, can I add you on WeChat?]
This question made Chloe Nash hesitate a bit.
She just wanted to finish Grandpa Prescott’s surgery and leave, not daring to linger here.
Everything here, especially those around Silas Prescott, she didn’t want any contact with.
Because she was afraid her identity would be suspected by Silas Prescott.
Seeing her hesitation, Julian Prescott’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment.
Then he typed again on the screen: [Auntie, I won’t disturb your work, I’m well-behaved usually, just want to chat when you’re not busy, I don’t have friends, dad is very cold to me, I’m very lonely.]
His pitiful words made Chloe Nash can’t help but feel heartache.
Children with autism are naturally very sensitive, they don’t like interacting with people.
They only like being alone.
They also don’t like making friends.
Chloe Nash didn’t know why Julian Prescott was willing to open up to her.
Even proactively wanted to make friends with her.
If Julian Prescott were a normal child, she could find countless reasons to refuse.
But he’s a sensitive and suspicious autistic child, a word, an action, might even affect his condition.
Chloe Nash took the phone from Julian Prescott and unhesitatingly clicked add in WeChat friends.
Seeing her submit the friend request, Julian Prescott clapped his little hands excitedly.
Quickly typing on the phone: [Thank you, Auntie, we’re friends now, I’ll accept your friend request once I get home, I will protect you well in the future.]
Seeing this, Chloe Nash’s eyes couldn’t help but sting a bit.
When she learned she was pregnant, she too told the child in her belly she would protect him well.
But she had broken her promise.
Thinking of this matter, Chloe Nash felt immense guilt.
If her child were still here, he would probably be as well-behaved as Julian Prescott.
While the two were merrily chatting here, Silas Prescott stood by the car and smoked several cigarettes.
Why could Chloe Nash make Julian Prescott so cheerful?
In Prescott Family, besides being close with him and Grandpa, he didn’t get close to a third person.
Silas Prescott put the cigarette at his fingertip in his mouth and took a drag.
White smoke exhaled from his throat.
Drifted away in the wind’s direction.
Just when he was lost in thought, he suddenly saw a man appear beside Chloe Nash.
The man looked very familiar with Chloe Nash, spoke in a casual manner.
This scene made something stick in Silas Prescott’s heart.
He quickly extinguished the cigarette butt and hurried back inside.
Sitting inside, Chloe Nash was at a loss.
The man’s name was Aaron Goodman, he claimed to be Chloe Nash’s class president during university.
After returning, Chloe Nash had crammed in lots of people she might meet, memorized their faces, even remembered important people’s preferences.
But among them, there wasn’t this person at all.
Seeing Chloe Nash’s surprised look, Aaron Goodman smiled and said: "Beauty Nash, you haven’t forgotten me, have you?"
Chloe Nash awkwardly chuckled: "Sorry, I had an accident abroad, can’t recall some people and events."
This was an excuse she prepared long ago, otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to face Chloe Nash’s former classmates and friends.
Aaron Goodman was a bit surprised, "That’s why you haven’t spoken in the group, I’ve @ you several times, but you ignored me."
Chloe Nash could only smile apologetically: "I changed my phone number, WeChat id too."
"Come on, let me add you. We’re organizing a class reunion, since you’re back, come over and hang out, seeing old classmates will help jog your memory."
Aaron Goodman took out his phone, opened the WeChat QR code, and handed it to Chloe Nash.
Just as Chloe Nash was about to scan, a dark shadow appeared before her, blocking her from Aaron Goodman.
Silas Prescott rudely took the phone from her hand, his tone allowing no argument.
"Chloe Nash, you’re out today to dine with my son and me, not to catch up with old classmates."
He pulled Chloe Nash to sit down, but when passing by Aaron Goodman, he intentionally stepped on his foot.
Making Aaron Goodman gasp in pain.
He couldn’t help but complain: "Chloe Nash, your husband is so overbearing, not even allowing to add an old classmate on WeChat."
