Book 6: Chapter 115: Descent

White, delicate threads extended from Lilith’s skin, layering over one another until they completely wrapped around her, forming a crystalline cocoon.

Just as the cocoon’s silken threads were about to fully veil the girl’s face, the Dragon Queen reached out and gently brushed her small cheek.

Her eyes brimmed with reluctance. If she could, she wished to keep her beloved daughter by her side forever. But such happiness was far too extravagant for a sinner like herself.

The child had already grown up, and it was time to let her fly free. As a mother, the only thing she could do was give her a pair of wings strong enough to fear no storm.

“Sleep now, my good daughter.” The Dragon Queen watched as the cocoon slowly sealed itself shut and gradually evolved toward perfection, a look of relief spreading across her lips. “When you awaken, you will no longer fear any wind or rain. But before that, let Mother send you off one last time.”

“Dragon Queen!”

A majestic shout rang out from the far end of the galaxy.

Endless, terrifying power surged in an instant from unfathomable distances. A bronze, ancient longsword abruptly tore through the shattered grand formation, and amid blinding radiance, chaotic energy capable of crushing even stars enveloped the area.

A new, powerful seal took shape in an instant as an elderly man with an immortal bearing and a young girl with a composed, aged demeanor descended together.

They were the Sky Ruins Deity Lord and the Thoughtless Deity Lord.

“So… it still couldn’t be hidden?” The Dragon Queen lowered her gaze and let out a helpless sigh.

In her original expectations, the best possible outcome would have been for the arriving Deity Lords to be too busy watching the spectacle to notice what was happening to Lilith.

That way, she could have delayed long enough for Lilith to complete her incubation.

But… how could that be possible?

Deity Lords were still Deity Lords, each one an old fox refined by countless ages. How could they possibly fail to notice the abnormality here? Even if they did not yet understand what the changes within Lilith truly signified, out of caution toward the Dragon Eater, they would still choose to act in advance.

And moreover…

The Dragon Queen raised her head, her gaze sweeping past the two Deity Lords before her and toward an even more distant place.

There, within the starry projection, ripples like waves spread across a vast expanse measured in galaxies. Terrifying auras no weaker than those of the two Deity Lords before her faintly emanated from within, and there was more than one.

The others had arrived as well.

“Dragon Queen, what exactly are you plotting?” The Sky Ruins Deity Lord’s white brows and beard fluttered without wind as he fixed the Dragon Queen with a commanding stare. The bronze longsword trembled in response to his anger, its chaotic energy grinding star after star into dust.

“When has this queen ever needed to report her actions to you?” The Dragon Queen replied coldly, lightly waving her hand to conceal the crystalline cocoon behind her.

The Thoughtless Deity Lord’s gaze followed the cocoon, her eyes flickering as though she were pondering something, yet she said nothing.

“At this point, are you still trying to put up a brave front, Regalis?” The Sky Ruins Deity Lord suddenly lowered his tone, no longer addressing her by her royal title but calling her by name instead.

“Why be so obsessed? The Dragon Eater is the mortal enemy of the Great World. No matter what you do, that will never change.”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

“Even if the Dragon race truly no longer exists, with your strength and status, creating a top-tier faction anywhere in the Great World would be no difficult matter. The myriad races stand side by side. Why cling so stubbornly to race alone?”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

“Even if you do not wish to go through all that trouble, you could simply join another faction. For example, my Sky Ruins Sacred Land. As long as you are willing to join, I can immediately have that useless brat of mine step aside for you.”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

“Regalis, why must you—”

“Pfft…” The earnest persuasion was cut short by an ill-timed snicker. The Sky Ruins Deity Lord turned his head expressionlessly.

The Thoughtless Deity Lord struggled to suppress her laughter and looked at him innocently. “Don’t mind it. I’m not laughing at you. I just thought of something funny and couldn’t help myself. Really, I’m not targeting you at all. Please continue, please continue.”

“……”

“I swear, if I were laughing at some pathetic bootlicker’s plight, then may heaven strike me with thunder—pfft…” The Thoughtless Deity Lord made a solemn oath, but halfway through she could not hold it in any longer and burst out laughing again. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

“An accident… an accident. Let me try again…”

“Sigh, enough, enough.” The Sky Ruins Deity Lord’s cheeks twitched. He wanted to curse aloud, but then suddenly realized that it had been nearly nine million years since he had last spoken a single vulgar word. So he shook his head helplessly and finally made up his mind to let everything go.

Those old matters and faded emotions from nine million years ago should have rotted away long ago and been swept into the trash heap.

“Dragon Queen, have you truly thought this through? As you are now, you cannot stop us.”

“Heh. Is there even a need to ask something like that?” The Dragon Queen’s gaze swept over the now-serious faces of Sky Ruins and Thoughtless before she lifted her head, staring straight at the other three powerful presences that had descended upon this place.

And between those three mighty auras, an incomparably eerie fluctuation was circulating.

The five great Deity Lords of the Great World—Sky Ruins, Thoughtless, Infinite Trials, Luminous, and the strongest of them all, Supreme Unity—were all present!

With such a terrifying lineup, even if the Dragon Queen were in her prime, it would still be difficult for her to hold them back. Let alone in her current condition, which was worse than ever before.

Forcibly shattering Lilith’s Black Crystal had nearly burned away most of her dragon blood. At this moment, her strength might only be thirty percent of her peak state. Yet the most troublesome thing was not even that, but rather—

The Dragon Queen’s gaze followed the strange fluctuation that had arrived alongside the other three Deity Lords. It turned out to be a hazy, indistinct river, flowing through the void of the cosmos.

On both banks of the river, vivid red spider lilies bloomed, each blossom accompanied by a woman’s faint, mournful sob. Countless bones floated within the river itself, the skeletons writhing in agony as they struggled to reach the shore, only to be dragged back under again and again by the current.

The supreme divine artifact, Nether Passage.

A tributary of the Yellow Springs had been severed from above the Heavenly Order itself. Then, together with a massive cauldron forged from the refined essence, blood, and flesh of two ancient Deity Lords, that tributary was poured into the cauldron. Using one million years of the Great World’s fate as fuel, it was finally smelted into form.

What emerged was this terrifying artifact, capable of bypassing the absolute defense of the Black Crystal, drawing in and casting the souls of all existences into the Nether River, and severing the connection between soul and flesh.

It was also by relying on this artifact that, nine million years ago, the Great World had managed to defeat the Dragon Eater and bring that brutal war, which had cost countless lives, to an end.

The Dragon Queen forcibly closed her eyes, cutting off her line of sight. For even a fleeting glance at the Nether River gave her the illusion that her soul was being sucked away.

Although, strictly speaking, this so-called supreme artifact posed little threat to her—she could still slaughter freely even as a soul alone.

But for the Dragon Eater… or rather, for Lilith, whose soul was fragile, it was an unquestionable natural nemesis. Before Lilith broke free from the cocoon and was reborn, she had absolutely no way to deal with the Nether Passage at all.
