Book 6: Chapter 66: Tease

The air grew eerily quiet. Even the ferocious dragon lifted its head, as if a giant question mark had appeared above it.

*Bro, what are you doing? We’re about to start a real fight, and you’re holding… a stupid spatula? Have you already accepted death and decided to enjoy your last meal?*

“Hey! Don’t look down on me just because I want to eat soft rice, alright?!”

The moment the dragon froze, the furious corporate slave let out a roar and leapt into the air. Clutching the golden spatula in his hand, he brought it crashing down toward the dragon.

The space below visibly warped, forming a massive transparent semicircular arc. And the moment the edge of that arc touched the dragon’s gleaming steel-like scales, something incredible happened.

The scales began to soften, like plastic melting under a flame. Then the flesh, muscle, and even bone followed suit, growing softer and softer. Under the pressure of its own weight, the massive dragon sagged, then folded before snapping in half like a melted rubber toy!

*Soft! Softer! Unbelievably soft!*

*If it isn’t soft enough to melt in the mouth, how could a corporate slave with a decade of gastric problems like me possibly eat it?!*

Li Desheng had taken the divine word bestowed by the deity lord and forged it into his own weapon through the sheer force of his obsession. The power of authority he now held was on a different level than Three—it was the real thing!

So even if that authority took the form of a ridiculous golden spatula, it did nothing to diminish its true power (…probably)!

“Hahaha! You see? Not even Dragon Eater can withstand my divine might!” Li Desheng laughed triumphantly, raising the golden spatula once more.

The space around him began to soften, warping and flowing like transparent jelly.

But even cleaved in two, the dragon remained undeterred. It raised its head, gathered its power, and unleashed a torrent of annihilating breath toward Li Desheng, who stood there with one hand on his hip, still laughing.

“Useless, useless, useless!”1

Li Desheng swung the golden spatula through the air.

The dragon’s breath—mixed with iron filings, sparks, and poison—shot out like the strained stream of a middle-aged man forced to relieve himself under pressure. It only made it halfway before succumbing to gravity, curving downward and vanishing into the churning black clouds.

The dragon was stunned. It breathed again… but same result.

The breath, capable of incinerating a demigod, was completely suppressed by the golden spatula in Li Desheng’s hand. It could not even graze the hem of his clothes.

All around him, the air continued to warp and soften, yet he stood firm in defiance, inviting hostility.

“Is that it? Is that really all the great Dragon Eater can do? No way. No way! You’re not seriously thinking that you could kill me with that, right?”

“Hehe…” The dragon let out a disdainful laugh, the kind one might give while watching a cockroach performing a tap dance.

More black liquid surged upward.

Hundreds of savage dragon heads emerged, each baring jagged teeth in mockery before glowing with molten-red light. In their mouths, beams of lava-colored energy began to gather.

Li Desheng’s face paled slightly, but he stayed calm.

*Just a few hundred attacks… my old bones can still take it. As long as I keep their attention and keep them from noticing my real plan, there’s nothing to panic about.*

“Heave-ho… Heave-ho…”

Behind him came the ragged breathing of someone working hard.

Li Desheng’s smug expression stiffened as he slowly turned his head.

A monster girl had appeared out of nowhere. She wore a gray work uniform and an oversized safety helmet that drooped crookedly on her head.

With an iron bucket in one hand and a brush in the other, she meticulously painted over the warped folds of space.

Black liquid coated the air like a fresh sealant, quickly solidifying into gleaming, crystal-clear walls.

“Ah, Mr. Li Desheng!” The *girl* turned to greet him with a cheerful smile. Darkness pulsed quietly through the cracks in her skin as she wiped imaginary sweat from her brow, beaming like a content, hard-working laborer.

“Look how soft this space has gotten. It’s too dangerous. I went ahead and fixed it for you.”

“I…” The corner of Li Desheng’s lips twitched violently… *Who the hell asked you to fix it?! I was trying to open a passage and escape, damn it!*

“Oh, there’s no need to thank me so much. We’re old friends, after all. I’m just doing what I should,” she said, blushing.

“I’m not your friend!” The enraged corporate slave swung the golden spatula straight at her. Half her body was crushed into pulp by the impact. But she kept smiling sweetly, even lifting her hand to her lips and blowing him a kiss.

“Don’t forget to give me a five-star review, dear.”

Before Li Desheng could explode again, the *girl* melted back into a puddle of black liquid and disappeared into the swirling darkness.

“And don’t get distracted during battle, dear.” Her parting words drifted on the air like an ominous reminder.

Li Desheng’s furious expression froze. In the end, all he could do was sigh in defeat. “Damn it…” And behind him, destruction arrived.

Beneath the icy ocean, a shadowy figure lurked quietly.

After confirming there were no enemies nearby, Li Desheng finally let out a deep breath. The ocean’s buoyancy gently lifted him, letting his body relax as he rapidly recovered his strength.

He should have escaped that monster.

But…

“Damn it. This is a huge loss.”

Li Desheng stared at the ragged straw doll in his hand, heart aching with regret.

“I spent ten years of wages on this Death Substitution Doll, and now it’s done for.” He rubbed the torn doll against his cheek, his voice filled with sorrow and frustration. “I wonder if they’ll even reimburse me for this…”

“Oh? Should I feel guilty?”

“Of course! Do you have any idea how expensive this thing is—?!” His angry shouting stopped mid-sentence.

Sitting on a nearby reef was the monstrous girl, resting her cheek in one hand as she mockingly watched the cockroach who thought he had gotten away.

Her pale skin was still cracked, occasionally oozing darkness from the gaps. But her lower half had transformed into a delicate fishtail, swaying lazily in the current as she teased a clownfish hiding in a sea anemone.

“What’s wrong? Did I scare you?” She blinked innocently, then grinned playfully. “Don’t tell me someone thought they could fool me by playing dead? No way… No freaking way! You don’t actually think I’m that easy to trick, right?”

“D-Damn it…!”

That familiar mocking tone sent a cold shiver down Li Desheng’s spine. He instinctively reached for a cigarette to calm himself, only to remember that he couldn’t do that because he was underwater.

“Aren’t monsters supposed to go crazy after transforming? Why do I feel like you’re getting smarter instead?”
