(A month later…)

The sights in Tyberos could be described as dazzling, futuristic and steampunk-like, the nation aesthetically-rooted deeply in machinery and technological advancements.

Airships roamed its smoggy skies and its skyline was dominated by towering skyscrapers, all of which melded together with the many tall brass and iron structures with intricate gears, clockworks and steam-powered contraptions.

Gearhaven, which was its capital city, buzzed with activity as people moved about to attend their various day-to-day activities.

Robots and automatons also roamed about, all programmed to perform specific duties like cleaning up the streets, controlling traffic and recording any incident of misconduct from citizens that would be instantly reported to the necessary authorities.

Along with that, automatons also helped in more sophisticated duties, like cooking dishes and serving up customers.

That was why, at a certain store, one that was well known, Aiden and Flynn, sat at the outdoor chairs, conversing as they watched the proceedings of the lively city while awaiting their orders.

"Briar would’ve loved to visit Gearhaven, wouldn’t she?" Aiden, resting on a curled fist, said as he watched an automaton, signal for a few vehicles to stop.

"That she would…" Flynn responded, glancing up from his notebook to watch as some children, giggled while crossing the road, all as a result of the automaton doing his work.

Staring at the peaceful sight before them, unsure of what would happen in the next few moments, Aiden questioned again, his expression casual.

"Think the irregular fissure will pop up?"

"Can’t say. They’ve been whittling down gradually over the past week so I’m just as unsure as you are" Flynn replied calmly, a similarly composed expression nestling on his features.

"That’s a sign of the invasion speeding up…" Aiden muttered in response and Flynn simply nodded in agreement.

Just as the Valkyries had explained, and just as they also knew, the past few months of never-ending, sudden appearances of the irregular fissures, were all as a result of the Beelzebub testing the waters.

Deciding if he should quickly descend upon their world or bide his time till the humans were much weaker for an even easier win.

However, judging by how rapidly the fissures were declining, it was obvious that he now understood that the humans were far stronger than he could’ve expected.

Peace would probably reign in Arcanora for the next month or so… but unfortunately, that was all a calm before the storm moment.

If he was going to invade the next month or the month after, that was something they were yet to know.

But for Aiden and Flynn, that single month of literally no constant blinking around to stop the sudden appearances of irregular fissures here and there, gave them enough time to sort out a few things they wanted to do.

"Here’s your order" a robotic voice, cascaded over into their ears while placing their mugs of coffee on the patio table.

Giving a curt nod as it was programmed, the robot, moved on over to respond to the next customer.

Staring at the vapor emanating from the mugs, Flynn glanced over to the clock tower just opposite the store, watching as the time struck 8:00 am.

Glancing a bit upwards, Aiden, just like Flynn, stared at the smoggy skies with a calm gaze.

And yet, Xavier’s notes, one which had contained an accurate prediction of all the places where irregular fissures would appear at, despite informing them that an irregular fissure would appear right there, didn’t.

Still, they maintained their gazes.

But, after about ten minutes of expecting the unsettling phenomenon to happen and nothing did, both brothers heaved a sigh of relief.

"Guess we can head back to the Frontlines now" Aiden stretched like a lazy cat, all while yawning a bit.

"Sure. But before we go, I’m going to enjoy my coffee" Flynn responded, adding a truck ton of sugar into the drink, one that caused Aiden to shake his head in amusement.

No sooner had that happened though, Evie suddenly blinked into existence before them while speaking;

"Yep. No fissure opened up on my end too. Even though I waited an hour after the usual predicted time of ten minutes, I saw nothing in Aquilith Haven’s beachside"

Shocking a bunch of people around the youths as that happened, Aiden and Flynn, completely unperturbed by it though, blinked their eyes in confusion for another reason as they stared at the lady.

"And you’re in your bikini why?" Flynn inquired, a bit perplexed that Evie didn’t even seem perturbed by the fact that a lot of men around her were constantly ogling her curvaceous body.

"Ooh coffee!" the lady pretended not to hear those words and instead, picked up Flynn’s coffee and proceeded to down it.

Just as she was about to though, the brothers shared a certain look, after which Aiden lightly tapped his own coffee mug.

The result of that gesture, resulted in Evie’s face scrunching up into a deep frown when she downed Flynn’s coffee!

"Bitter!!!" she almost spat out the drink, coughing a bit at the unexpected yet unholy bitterness of the coffee.

The youths on the other hand, burst into laughter, much to Evie’s annoyance, already realizing what they did as Aiden gently pushed back his ’own’ coffee to Flynn.

’This little shit used Spatial Shift on the coffee!’ she frowned in mild irk.

"Well that’s what you get for scamming us into buying bogusly priced battle suits…" the youth casually stated in response, his expression hearty.

"Sketchy Ass Blue Feline." Flynn added with a wicked smirk whilst reminding her of her username.

Hearing that, Evie could not believe, that after all this time, despite explaining to them that she had just being joking around with that bogus price on their Academy’s website, the youths hadn’t forgotten to pay her back in due time.

"Ashildr will hear about this" the lady, after being unable to say a thing for a few seconds, pouted as she stated, causing the two brothers to exchange another hearty chuckle.

Getting back to the small island on the Frontlines, Aiden and Flynn, alongside Evie, made their way through the familiar clearings of frozen trees.

As they brushed through the icicle-coated leaves, they soon located a wide, open clearing, one where all the buildings present, were built in small rectangular cubicles, akin to a makeshift military encampment.

A bunch of children were playing around while their elder ones ensured to keep tabs on them, all of their blue hair being the major highlight.

No sooner had they spotted all three though, they instantly came running.

"Welcome back!"

"Did you bring sweets for me Flynn?!"

"Aiden! I wanna fly! Carry me!"

"Evie brought toys!"

As they gathered around the three individuals, all of them familiar with the young children and responding the best they could, they soon left them to meet up with the Valkyries a while later.

As they did, they also greeted a bunch of other people they had become familiar with over the past four months, most of them in the same age bracket of their very early twenties just like Evie.

Evie also parted ways with them, moving over to her own personal quarters to change into something more fitting from her beach wear.

Making their way towards the biggest building though, one that was situated right in the middle the encampment, the youths knocked on the door and were soon permitted to come in.

Stepping into the room, both were met with the sight of Xavier, conversing with the Valkyries.

"So, in a months’ time. Just as we predicted?" Ashildr asked the white-haired man.

"Yes" Xavier casually responded and then added;

"Guess I’ll need to alter the entire terrain of the Frontlines and return the collective information I wiped from Arcanora’s history regarding this place too"

"That being said, I’ll do that a week just before the invasion" he concluded, his words casual despite how unbelievable the feat he was planning to perform was.

"The Railgun’s also on the verge of operational use. Magnus and Novier just need to iron out a few kinks here and there… according to their report at least" Morrigan added her own input while the last two Valkyries, turned over to face the two youths as they entered.

"And, our secret weapons have also gained a strong grasp on how to manage and control their Authorities" Sigrun, always the one to tick the youths off with her blunt personality, casually stated.

"Don’t call them that." Senya gently reprimanded her sister, one to which the lady replied with a snort, purposely directed at the youths as a thin, borderline wicked smile, graced her features;

"I’ll call them whatever I want"

To that, Aiden and Flynn simply sighed in resignation.

But at the same time, this was one of the major reasons they liked Sigrun.

She did a really good job of lightening up the mood even in tense situations and although it wasn’t apparent at first because they thought she was just a sadistic lady overall, they had come to see things differently over the past few months.

Shaking her head in resignation though, Senya then stated with a resolute expression;

"I think we’ve prepared the best we could. As for the rest, we’ll do the best we possibly can."

In response to that, everyone in the room nodded in agreement.

"This month might probably be the last time we’ll have the chance to deal with any individual plans we might have so I think it’s only necessary we try our best to sort it out." Xavier stated a few seconds after, turning his gaze over to the youths.

To this, the Valkyries also nodded in agreement, causing the brothers to beam in immense joy.

Really, they were so glad that they would at least be getting the chance to properly meet with their family and friends after all this time.

However, they both also had a few more things to sort out and as a result, responded whilst speaking;

"Thank you… but we’ll be sticking around for a few more days." Aiden spoke first, to which Flynn then added;

"There’s a certain task we need to get out of the way…"

Moving over to their own quarters, both sharing a single room, the brothers couldn’t help but be reminded and feel very nostalgic about their time on Earth.

The space they were in was cramped, with just two beds placed on the floor, their briefcase which they had brought along four months back, and a few clothes that were hung around the room with makeshift hangers.

Staring at the sight before them, their thoughts similar, Aiden and Flynn soon brushed those thoughts aside and then refocused their attention onto the large, standing white board present in the room.

Unveiling the black cloth they had draped over it, Flynn was the first to speak;

"Alright. Let’s decipher this siren song in our heads"

"Roger that" Aiden replied, retrieving two markers and tossing one over to Flynn.
