Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 106: Small Predicament
Chapter 106: Small Predicament
Axel shook his head, hearing that, he said to them on a serious note,
"Sorry, but I need to go in, I must gather enough academy credits for a project of mine, and the 1st tier creatures would be more than enough."
Hearing his serious tone, the guards were in a predicament. One of them said,
"Mr. Axel, we don’t have enough authority to allow you, but we will bring the one who can."
The guard stormed off to a small-looking resting cabinet right beside the gate; the other guards, in the meantime, were authorizing all those who came in teams to go inside. Many of them shot surprised glances towards Axel. After all, his appearance was the most unique, excluding the Valkyrie. No one else had blue hair and blue eyes in the entire academy.
Even in the entire Suncrest Kingdom, such features were rarely seen on anyone, and doubtful if anyone else with such features even existed. So, pretty much all the students in the academy knew him. Some of them even came up to him and said hello. Axel greeted them all with a smile. He would mince and converse with every type of people, no matter whether noble, merchant, or royalty, without discrimination. On the condition that they spoke with him in due respect, and is not an arrogant young master, who utters courting death every millisecond.
Surprisingly, because of his status as the most promising runecaster, most descendants of the high echelons of each kingdom treated him quite respectfully, recognizing his value, most basically buttered him up so that they could have business exchanges with him in the future. He didn’t mind those types of connections, honestly. Since he himself also intended to use them very much when the time came.
Of course, some typical arrogant young masters or mistresses came to him, expecting him to bow down, considering his family was merely that of low-ranking merchants. Which they obviously frowned upon. But not all were from prestigious households. Surprisingly, there were many who came from an ordinary background.
Axel spoke much more freely with them, but their biggest inspiration was obviously Heinz Gil. The guy who came from a commoner background and was literally ranked 2nd. And considering Axel himself had the closest friendship with Heinz, those coming from a poor background found Axel easy to reach out to. There was the fact that he treated them all normally, even without an ounce of disgust hiding beneath. Which all those from prestigious families had towards them.
As for those who came to put him in his place, they came to show arrogance and pride, but ended up getting humiliated. There have been a few fights that have already happened. There was a designated fighting arena where students could fight each other to resolve a certain issue. But they have to reveal their issue to the 2nd Phase Seeker in charge of it, and the winner will be the winner, and the loser will not be able to bring up that issue ever again. It’s like a semi-lawful method to resolve things.
Because unauthorized fighting between students for any reason comes with a very bad penalty, something that expels you at worst and at best puts a lot of negative credit on the magic card, which will, in a sense, destroy your ability to make use of the academy environment to become stronger, and such. The academy authorities take their rules very seriously, no matter who you are.
Many of the teams asked him to join them since he seemed to be alone, but he promptly rejected all those requests, politely. They all showed a disappointed expression at his rejection and simply wished him good luck, while likely scoffing inside. While the arrogant ones even openly showed disdain towards him, saying that he would get killed like a dog for being so arrogant as a mere Runecaster.
The Seeker in charge of the place finally came out, he was a 2nd phase Seeker as well. Axel couldn’t help but think. The academy really has a lot of Seekers in charge of almost every main post of the academy.
The person in charge and Axel went to one side to talk. That person initiated the conversation as he said, freewebnoveℓ.com
"So, Mr. Nomrad, you want to go to the forest alone?"
"Yes, I must go and hunt alone," replied Axel calmly.
The gate officer raised an eyebrow at that and said,
"You’re putting me in a predicament, Mr. Nomrad, for one, you have a sort of special status within the academy, so everyone is compelled to acquiesce to your requests as much as possible."
"While I could let you go in, if you promise to stay within the tier 1 area, even though there likely aren’t many tier 1 creatures at the moment for some unknown reason. While most Seekers can indeed hunt creatures one tier higher. So, your life should not be in danger considering that."
"Normally, this request would not even be entertained for any other student, but it is also because of your special status, Mr. Nomrad, that I can’t just let you in to take such a risk. I would have to face severe punishment even at the slightest bit of danger you encounter."
Axel frowned, hearing his long explanation, but then he eventually said with a sigh,
"Alright, please let me in and I promise I will not cross the first border, and I will run away at the first sight of any danger that I cannot handle. And even if I do encounter a danger, it is my responsibility alone."
Then Axel looked straight into the mighty Seeker’s eyes and said, "While I do thank the academy and its authorities for thinking of me so highly and going to such lengths to assure my safety, I must add one thing that my grandfather used to say quite a lot."
"Sheltered Lions don’t survive in the wild," declared Axel boldly towards the powerhouse.
The Seeker looked at him with an intense gaze for a moment, suddenly out of nowhere, a powerful pressure descended on him like a mountain weighing thousands of tons in weight.
But Axel’s expression remained unchanged despite being startled at first by the enormous pressure. He endured it as if it were nothing. If the Seeker in front of him was surprised by the ease with which Axel endured the pressure, he did not show it on his face.
