Chapter 452: Sword Flow

In the end, Marquess Mason could only give up with immense reluctance; if not for the possible threat of Damien Nomrad’s return, he really would not have given up on killing Daniel and Axel Nomrad. As for the so-called punishment by King Leonidas, that was just a front that the royal family had to maintain.

The royal family could not really punish him heavily in this situation, where every single one of the high-level powerhouses was like an incalculable asset to the kingdom at large.

Mason threw one last glance towards the Nomrad mansion. For a moment, he creased his eyebrows and saw Axel Nomrad walk out in leisurely steps. In the meantime, Duke Allen came close to him and activated a short-distance teleportation, not asking for his permission.

Even as the Marquess was about to be teleported, his eyes remained locked onto that boy, because Axel Nomrad was also looking at him, but wearing an almost imperceptible mocking smile.

It was not a smile of provocation, but a dark smile that showed utter and absolute contempt filled with arrogance, and that damned smile was the complete replica of Damien Nomrad’s smile.

But alas! no matter how aggrieved he was, no matter how sure he was of the fact that the Nomrad family was indeed involved with the massacre of his family, colluding with the ghost race. He dared not act too rashly.

He could only grit his teeth and bide his time, ’So, what if Damien Nomrad is back? I will find a way and kill every last one of you, regardless of the cost. This debt will be repaid a hundredfold. And that is a promise.’

Axel stood side by side with his father as Daniel retracted the strong barrier that had been raised over their mansion. The Poison Lord Simon Vanelis and the Flame Lord Martin Greaves came down. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The Flame Lord praised with a positive grin towards his father, "Hehe, Nomrad Patriarch, it was indeed the right decision for me to make a move myself. I must say that the hidden mechanisms of your mansion are indeed quite scary."

Simon Vanelis, in the meantime, did not comment on useless things but handed a potion to him, "Drink it, your internal mana is in chaos, there are some hidden injuries inside you. And you’re completely depleted."

Daniel, as an Alchemist himself, naturally did not fail to recognize the immense value of the potion that the Poison Lord was handing over to him. He hurriedly rejected, "No, this is just too valuable. I can’t...."

But before he could say more, the Flame Lord interjected calmly, "If we could personally take action to make sure that the Nomrad family is safe, do you think this little thing is worth much?"

So, Daniel could not find the right words to fight back and took the medicine, pouring its contents into his mouth. The injuries immediately started to heal, and he knew very well the true extent of the damage he had suffered to operate such a powerful 5th-tier artifact.

So, to see it all heal so fast and smoothly was truly an eye-opener for him. Daniel even felt like he had gained some good insight into the alchemical path.

Lord Simon’s gaze then turned towards Axel, who wore a pleasant smile. Simon Vanelis squinted at him in suspicion. For a moment, it felt like he was being played. The boy seemed almost too relaxed, as if everything had gone according to his plans or predictions.

But then he shook his head; it was a strange thought. He only asked, "Axel, be very careful. Though I doubt anyone from within the Kingdom would now dare to mess with you and your family, I’m afraid the conflict with the minor kingdoms and ghost race will escalate very soon."

For a moment, Axel was somewhat surprised. When he first met this powerhouse, he was very amiable towards him, and there was no air of pressure that Simon actively imposed, which made a very good impression on Axel.

But only now did he see that this man was usually extremely cold, a very frightening entity that could even scare Mason Vex.

And now he was showing worry for him again. So, he had nothing but goodwill for this man, as Simon Vanelis had helped him again and again, and since he was also Vyra’s father. Axel would definitely repay his favors in the future.

Axel stated respectfully, "Don’t worry, Lord Simon, I will be very careful."

Simon Vanelis nodded and started to fly away, but sent him one last mental transmission through mana,

’Since I had to personally take action today, in exchange, if things do not work out well between that commoner boy, Heinz Gil, and my daughter. Then I’m afraid I will have to talk directly with your father about betrothing you to Vyra. At that time, I will not accept any refusal.’

Axe’s smiling face instantly turned ashen. He could not help but think in horror, taking away your best friend’s girlfriend. What sort of bullshit NTR rom-com route was that? He looked upwards at the heavens with scathing hatred and sneered, ’I dare you to fucking try that sort of bullshit, damned bastard.’

The author, meanwhile, could only let out a nervous laugh, anyway...cough,

Martin Greaves was looking at Axel with interest. He knew that the Poison Lord was talking with Axel through mana transmission. He was already greatly surprised that this boy had managed to move this cold and ruthless man, especially given that the Vanelis family had maintained its neutrality for many, many generations.

So, it naturally was no small matter to break that neutral stance all of a sudden like that.

The Flame lord chuckled and decided to test out Axel for a small bit. This was the first time he was seeing this boy, and Martin had to admit, this boy was strong, extremely strong for a mere mid-2nd-stage runecaster.

It was an odd feeling that he found hard to put into words, as if there was an even stronger power residing within this boy. Martin asked Daniel, "Nomrad Patriarch, do you mind if I test your son a bit?"

Daniel blinked his eyes in surprise and shook his head with a smile, "Please go on, Um... just please don’t be too hard on him."

Martin laughed, stroking his fiery beard that was neatly combed. His stature was tall and muscular, akin to a juggernaut. He chuckled and said to Axel, "Don’t be scared, boy, it’s nothing much, you just have to endure a single wisp of my flame attack. Your runecaster aspect isn’t really suited to battle, so why don’t you switch your aspect first?"

Axel shook his head, "No need, my runecaster aspect is enough."

Martin smiled as the flames around him grew more intense, mirroring his emotions. He held one finger in front of his face, and a small swirl of yellow and red flames began to intertwine. The Flame Lord flicked the marble-sized flaming orb with his finger.

The small ball of fire then began to change in form as it travelled through the air. It grew larger and larger, turning into a fiery monster opening its ginormous maws wide, about to devour Axel whole.

The runecaster did not panic; he brought out his only 2nd tier rune sword that he possessed, which was imbued with three of the same pseudo runes of metal, granting this sword the power of unmatched sharpness.

Axel did not panic in the face of this destructive power that could literally incinerate him. The sheer difference in quality between his strongest offense and even the simplest attack of a 5th-phase being was truly mind-numbing. Even if he switched to his chaosblood aspect, it would not be any easier to tackle this difference in strength.

So, raw power was never truly the way to go in order to tackle this attack of one of the strongest 5th-phase Seekers within the kingdom. But it was the opposite, against the scorching red flames that represented destruction and decay, only softness with extreme control could work.

The softness of the water,

The sharpness of the water,

His sword needed to perform a cut that contained the very nature of water, though his rune sword did not contain the pseudo rune of water.

What mattered was the intent, the unshakable will that bends the very world around you.

Instead of holding the sword strongly, he loosened his grip.

Instead of thinking hard, he slowed his thoughts.

Instead of hardening his expression, his face relaxed.

Spreading all his senses, he immersed his mind in the energy-sense skill and fully activated his runic eyes. Axel let his subconscious mind flow like water, doing the work.

The second voice that everyone has in their heads, the inner voice they keep suppressing, he let it out, he let it run wild. He was no longer the man who controlled the flow; he flowed in sync with the very world itself.

And so, the world responded, no matter how unwilling it may be, as Axel slowly held the sword above his head, ready to slash down, it all felt so different than usual. A surreal, inexplicable feeling it was.

As the slash of his sword came down, the unstoppable flames were also ready to swallow him whole. It almost seemed like the flames had already engulfed him.

SHIN!!!

Whoosh!!!

But the next instant, all the crackling of the flames vanished; the red flames split in two, then disintegrated as if a bucket of water was poured on a bonfire. His slash looked mundane and even very slow at first glance. But that could not be far from the truth.

On the other hand, the man who conjured those flames, the one titled the Flame Lord, stared at Axel with utter stupefaction, his jaw hanging low in pure shock. "Was that Sword Flow.....? Did you just enter the state of Sword Flow?"
