Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 213: Away from the capital
"Could you do me a favor and send me far away?"
Reeva was reluctant to get involved in capital politics. If he can avoid it, that will be beneficial to him. Furthermore, forming a cult here is far more difficult than persuading a naive villager to join you.
"Why?"
The orange robe guy spoke in a stern tone. He doesn’t agree with Reeva going so far away from the main church. Their apostle should only be in the capital, promoting the church’s legitimacy and instilling faith in ordinary people. The capital could benefit from another strong voice of an apostle to gain more believers.
"As you can tell, I am not a believer in the sun god. This does not improve your image in the public eye, right? The sun god will appear flimsy in his choice of an apostle when even ordinary people who do not believe in the sun god are considered for this position."
He did not dare to lie in front of the Pope. Picking up lies is one of the sun god’s domains, so the pope most likely has one of the most powerful lie detectors on hand. Which is himself.
"That is indeed a peculiar situation, but we could just not tell the public this information no?"
The pope said.
"The Sun church is a church of truth, we technically didn’t tell any lies but if this got out the people would have agreed that the church lied. Wouldn’t the church take a big hit from that?"
"Indeed, your words are true but there’s more to this isn’t it?"
Reeva has already prepared this speech.
"I don’t like politics here, it stresses me out."
If he’d learned anything from his interactions with the church, it’s that the sun priest enjoys hearing the truth. From the average priest to the sun god, if the truth is not something like "you killed someone," the sun church is usually satisfied.
And as Reeva predicted the pope smiles.
"HAhAAH" He lit out a light chuckle after something "The sun god really picked a good candidate this time. I’ll let you go to the countryside on the condition that you do something for me."
The pope nodded to the orange-robed priest, who backed off and went to another section of the church, returning with a flag. It’s a white flag with gold trim. The middle section is decorated with church creations. The sunlight torch.
"We’re having trouble in Guragua right now, and we’d like you to help boost priest morale by appearing there. Leading a crusade to rid the villages of corruption. Raising this flag wherever you go, Does that appeal to you?
"Very much so."
"Then it’s decided, You’ll be set out in 2 days. In the meantime make yourself at home."
"Could I also have one other request?" Reeva is unsure whether or not he could get this done.
"What is it?"
"Could I remain anonymous?"
"Outrageous..." Orange robe man is about to shout at Reeva for the second time but he fortunately got cut by the pope.
"We could arrange for that... Anything else?"
"That is all"
Reeva couldn’t hope for more, he only needed an environment far from the church so he could cultivate people to believe in his cult. Secretly raising the power of his own. After the chat, he was escorted out by Plutus.
There are only two people left in the cathedral now.
"He didn’t tell the whole truth," The orange-robed man spoke with skepticism. At his level, determining the truth was not difficult, but people like Reeva are the most annoying to deal with. He almost hopes that Reeva occasionally lies.
"I figure as much"
The pope answers his tone as serine as ever. His white long beard was slightly gleaning yellow from the strained glass.
"Yet you still let him go"
"You’re too rigid Sanchez, Have I ever told you that?"
"Many times sir"
"He is not the best in our eyes, but he is an apostle. There is something that can’t be measured simply by seeing him once. The sun god must have seen that quality in the man and chosen him. What I’m worried about is the priest that came with him"
"The high priest?"
"He has something hiding underneath, be sure to keep an eye out for him."
The orange robe man looks at the back of Plutus leaving the church with a complicated expression.
-------------
Smoke filled the air as the door to the duke’s office opened. Inside, the duke is sitting at the table having a nice cup of coffee. In his left hand was a pipe, with smoke coming out of it. The room is neatly organized, and the sword at the table is prepared for fighting at the moment’s notice.
"Father, I heard that Reeva was in town"
"Why’d you bring that up?"
"Well, I thought maybe you’d want to visit him."
Haris, Reeva’s older brother suggested. His long blue hair is well-kept. His dazzling suit supports his angular face, making him look rather regal. Naturally, the Duke’s son gets the best treatment, appearance is half of the impression of nobility.
Their words sound convincing not only because it’s persuasive but because they are attractive, the duke has learned that at a very young age. And he aims to teach that to every kid he has.
"He’s not part of the family anymore"
"Yet you’re still watching him," Haris said "Admit it, Father, deep down you really don’t want to let him go"

"....."
Reeva may be a failure, but it is his failure. If he had gotten to stay with his son, he would have whipped him into shape. But the pressure from all sides is too much, if it wasn’t for the royal family and the church pushing this issue, he would not have let Reeva go.
That’s why he got upset when they forced his hand. But he could only grit his teeth and make that decision; it appeared that the royal price wanted Reeva gone and was throwing everything he had at him.
Pushing his position into either choosing to let Reeva go or taking the full force of the church and the royal family. Being in that position his whole clan would perish.
He’d been thinking about one thing ever since. Seeking revenge on the 13th prince, and he has the perfect excuse.
