Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 217: Change
"Holy....."
Haris didn’t know how to act. His nose syck in the air but didn’t let it out, too chock to even breathe properly. Shaking his head, he composes himself again.
"This... does change a lot of things"
"Yep, I already have the church protection. You need not worry about me"
"...." Hari looked to be in a trance, it is his way of thinking "I will have to get this to Father.... anything else you want to tell me?"
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
With Reeva being an apostle, their plans have been for nothing. At least some part of it needs to be revised because Reeva doesn’t need help getting out now.
"I’ll be leaving the capital in two days, the church needs me to boost morale in the northern lands."
"You’ll have to be careful, the northern lands are in a weird state at the moment."
"What do you mean by that?"
Reeva asked, glancing at his brother for an answer. He already knows some of it since this event kind of happened in the novel. Normal animals become weird and more hostile than before. Their appearance change as their faces warp in differnt ways.
He needs to confirm that it’s similar to the novel.
"From the forward party that Antores sent, the animal there has been changing in a certain way. Their faces warp and their habits change. The situation is fairly new but the church is preparing a crusade."
"It’s that bad?"
"That’s why they want you there, I think. Whatever it is, it spreading like a pledge but harder to deal with, the saint has already departed for the battlefield. Her healing is crucial there."
"...."
The state is worse than he expected, at this point in the narrative, the heretic insurrection is well underway, but this problem is not caused by them. It’s part of their plan, but the cause of this strange mutation isn’t some sort of void god.
4 causes come together to bring fall to this world and this is one of them.
"As I said, you need to be safe. I will send you an Antores armor set for your trip... I will have to go back to arrange something with Father"
Since the situation has changed, Haris needs to make an arrangement with the Duke. After getting all the information he needed, he quickly left through the door.
"This is gonna be quite troublesome"
He’ll need to lead a religious force to put an end to the animal mutation in the northern lands. This is a significantly more difficult situation than being stationed in a rural village.
He wonders how Theia and Hilda are doing. It would be wise to locate them before they wander into the northern land by coincidence. When Reeva exited his chamber, he found two priests stationed outside.
Likely to monitor him and dobling as a protection.
"Hey, do you have a divination priest?"
"Sir, we have plenty on standby for your service."
Reeva recoiled a bit, he didn’t think the pope would work this fast. The priest is too polite to be clueless about his identity, the pope likely tells them that he is the apostle. Sending them to guard him, and from the look of it they were bad either. Properly 3rd circle at least.
"Scratch that, do you have a map"
His first instinct was to consult a divination priest for an answer, but he realized that he was the apostle. His entire deal is to convey words from God to the mortal. Divination is the skill of asking questions to god, couldn’t he do it himself?
"Yes sir we have it."
"Good, prepare it for me... by the way you happened to have a prisoner that could build a gun perhaps?"
Reeva recalls an old buddy when the saint’s name comes up. Because of his usage of the rifle, he most likely got himself into trouble when he arrived in the capital and was apprehended. The elderly man is neither cunning nor powerful enough to avoid the church, especially because they could track you down with his hair on hand.
"..How did you know that?" The priest stammers a bit, unsure why Reeva has such information.
"I’m an apostle remember?"
"Sorry, yes we do have that... May I ask why you want to know?"
The priest felt silly for asking Reeva such a question, Reeva already had a higher rank than them, of course, he would have known about this...
"Just repaying some debt...by the way, You... What’s your name?"
"I’m Maximus, you could call me Max, and that is Quin, sir"
He points to himself and to the priest who is with him. Both of them have black hair with tall stature. Max has a rather cool vibe to him, but not cold and unapproachable. His brown eyes shine very brightly every time he talks.
Quin on the other hand didn’t talk much, he only followed orders. His hair is as short as almost a skinhead. The only reason Reeva knows it’s black is because a little bit is growing out. He had a brown complexion, akin to that of the Tumidus sailor who’s out on the ocean for a long time.
His build is more muscular than Max’s, making more imposing of the two.
"Okay then, Quin could you get me the map and Max lead me to that prisoner."
""As you wish""
Both of them said at the same time. Reeva felt a bit easier in their robotic response. Quin quickly left to find him the map and Max gestured for Reeva to follow him. Reeva felt a smile creep up on his face as he watched them work.
Following Max, Reeva has a chance to look at the church again. Leaving the guest building and arriving at the cathedral. The architecture is much grander than the church in Tumidus.
Reeva only just now has the time to appreciate how majestic it looks, from the pointy rooftop to the glass with various patterns on them. No wonder people have faith in the church.
What would drive humans together to build these gigantic structures if God’s might did not exist? Money could be used to construct such a lofty structure, but it would not have the same feel as a church.
The attention to detail, every statue that decorates the church and every stone built it. Reeva felt like the builder cared about this building.
