Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 218: Old friend
The cathedral is bigger than any church Reeva has been to, albeit he’s seen only 3-5 churches in his time here. Still, the size of the church is impressive, rivaling that of a skyscraper in terms of how big it is.
The cathedral has two floors, one for regular visitors and one for nobility and high priests. It wasn’t a complete floor two, the upper level functioned more like an expanded balcony with seating. The church still has a podium in the center. A broad crimson carpet escorted them from the front door to the podium.
Max leads Reeva to the side of the church, where they have a door. This is a familiar setup for Reeva since this is the same exact layout as the church in Tumidus. Opening the wooden door, Reeva gazes down the set of stairs.
The dark spiral stairs were lit up by the usual underground candle. Each step sends him down deeper and deeper until the light from the outside can’t reach it anymore. The atmosphere here is as depressing as the one in Tumidus but with a lot of luxury and maintenance to the building.
The stone on the wall seems polished and the candle isn’t burnt out. Reeva only had to travel down a little bit before they came across the prison. It seems like the underground didn’t house any priest this time.
Two knights stand guard, casting a glance at the stranger. Keeping silent and letting Reeva in with ease. Properly due to the priest who is leading him. There shouldn’t be any issues with Reeva, and if there are, the knight won’t be much assistance to the priest.
"You have been here before?"
The priest asked, seeing that Reeva wasn’t as surprised as other people. Seeing that there’s an underground dungeon for the church, most people would freak out. Either because they’ve been caught by the church or because they didn’t expect the church to have one.
There’s a normal police jail, used by the police force and there is this one, special kind of jail used to lock away sinners.
"Pretty familiar, is there a punishment room here too? Whatever they’re called"
"Yep, we have like 3 of those in here. We used them to imprison mystic or get information."
"Pretty standard"
Reeva was led through the prison, there were many people in there. However, their condition is considerably better than in Tumidus. Seeing Reeva was interested in the prisoner Max spoke out.
"We fed them 3 times a day, with soup and bread. They’re awaiting the verdict from the church or serving their sentence."
"That’s better than some homeless people"
"Regrettably, the church has already covered many of the unfortunate people. However, it’s the system that makes the people poor. If it’s up to me I would have fed all of them."
Maximus said with some zeal in his voice.
"Oh, we’ve arrived"
Max comes to a stop in one of the cells, it looks no differnt than the other. The dimly lighted chamber allowed Reeva a glimpse into the cell. An old man sits on the cold floor, looking as if he has lost everything.
"Themis Lockheart"
Reeva calls out to the old man. the white hair man’s head moves a bit and their eyes lock onto each other.
"Go away, I’m not in the mood for hallucinations" He mutters, his breath slower and steady.
"’I’m a real old man, have you forgotten me?"
After hearing that the old man did a double take and his eyes widened. Then from there is face control into that of anger.
"Why the hell are you here you piece of shit!"
Reeva would have the same reaction too, since he used a gun to distract the church. Naturally, Themis would be the first suspect and the first one to get captured.
"I’m here to free you"
"What jest is this!? You got caught just like me then you’re spouting bullshit in here? Why did you use the thing? I told you not to use it... arggg... Now I’m stuck here all because of you...
"
They appear to be trying to gather information about Reeva from Themis as well. However, the old guy was unfamiliar with Reeva’s name. This is a premeditated course of action, and Reeva sends the old man to Lememore because the priest cannot see that far into the past when using divination to investigate.
Eventually, they gonna have to give up finding the guy with a gun.
"Can I release this guy with my authority?"
Max who stayed quiet throughout the conversation finally spoke up.

"Normally you could but this case is a little different. This man has a method to make a powerful artifact that we need to control... We couldn’t let him go"
"Did the saintess know that her father is locked in here?"
"...." A bead of sweat went down the priest’s head. Reeva continues with his angle of attack. The old man’s gun has saved him several times, so he needs to pay some debt.
"She won’t like him being in here"
"Apostle, I beg you reconsider...."
"Have him in the guest house and 2 priests by his side, that should be enough right?"
"....." Max thinks about a for a second "That should be fine"
The only reason why Themis is in prison is because of the punishment of giving the gun away but now that the apostle himself has overwritten that, the church has no reason to keep him here. Moreover, if this got to Lucy Lockheart she would be angry.
However, he still needs to be watched over.
"What the hell is going on?"
Themis couldn’t quite catch up, as as far as he knew, Reeva was the person who had the gun. Which made Reeva belong here more than Themis. But somehow he was able to get a priest on his side and even wave away Themis’s punishment.
Seeing the confused old man, Reeva thought this was the best time to give him a heart attack. His coldness touched his forehead again. This time he didn’t concentrate much. The yellow light shines bright in the dimly lit dungeon.
"Y..you’re..."
Reeva couldn’t get enough of people’s reactions to him as the apostle. Reeva always smiles when he sees the sheer amazement on display.
