Reeva was running out of time. The mother played a very delicate game of cat and mouse with him. No doubt, she was stalling for herself to gather into one place. His eyes squeezed tight as Reeva activated the artifact and felt the vibration in the ground.

He could see mother’s movement and the mother could feel his movement too. After he correctly predicted where the vines were gonna pop out, the mother caught onto the fact that he was using the artifact.

This means that he could only watch as the mother sat underground and gathered all of her fragments, which was the worst case imaginable. Reeva needed to get everyone out of here. But just once glace told him that the people, knights civilians, and the remaining priest were not in any condition to move right now.

"Apostle...."

Quin tried to call him out but Reeva was not in the mood to answer. His eyes darted around the place again and think about what he had to do. Being a demon, the priority changed from protecting people to generating happiness to generating happiness from protecting people.

It’s a little different but it’s all that matters. Reeva was only here for the people to generate mystic power for him. But if this went on he would die when the mother managed to merge herself together.

That left only one possibility of survival, he had to abandon the people here. As much as he loved the happiness that the people exuded, Reeva also knew that if he died there was no happiness to be gained. But if he abandoned them now, he would have survived to gather more joy from other people, he could then get his revenge on this vile demon.

Reeva looked at Quin who had been calling him earlier. His yellow eyes met with the priest.

"Demon.... You need to leave us behind."

Quin said with confidence, he was sure that Reeva could leave by himself or at least the demon could. Even if he’s not Reeva right now, the apostle had command respected from himself and if the demon survived, Reeva would too.

Max also agreed with Quin’s decision, there’s no point in prolonging this fight anymore. They were all Reeva baggage here. From their view, Reeva was locked in a stalemate with the demon, and they were sure that he would run out of power long before the other demon would.

Yellow eyes looked into Quin again this time it felt like Reeva was looking for something. Then his body began to tremble, his eyes began rolling. His hand extended out and then reached back and punched himself.

"Apostle!"

Max called out, after seeing how powerful that punch was. If one of them was hit by it then it would be less brutal than the vines. However, the vine would be much more painful than his punch.

"I’m fine...."

Reeva punched himself for one simple reason, he needed some control back. At this point, he was governed by the mystic power, everything from his body, and eyes to his brain. That punch in the stomach made his mystic power unstable. And with damage done to his body, he needed to allocate some mystic power to the wound making the mystic inside his body uneven.

With the defense shaven, he decides to take control back. However, this procedure was much harder than he thought... No, it was as hard as he thought. To begin with he needed to train himself to be able to punch himself when it comes to crucial decisions. Then at that volubility, he would take over again.

However, nothing goes right, in this thing. First of all, he only managed to control it by pure luck. The demon received vulnerability on its own when Max told it to leave them. It shook the joy demon enough to let Reeva slip out. Otherwise, this wouldn’t even happened.

The next step was to take over the body, and that didn’t go well either. Due to the demon’s control of the body, he could only take over half the brain thus only able to control half the body.

"Get out of here"

The demon spoke, trying to get all the control back, however, Reeva pushed the mystic with his coldness, maintaining the balance.

"You are the one that needed to get out"

"If you’re in control then we will lose even before she merges"

The demon spoke, The yellow eyes became aggressive, this matter was its own survival. It will not be able to collect more joy with it perish here.

"What?"

Max listening to the conversation was shocked by two things. One, Reeva actually broke out of the demonification by himself, as far as he knows there was no one who could do that. If you’re down by your own belief you will sink deeper and deeper into one belief making it impossible to escape. Only those of higher mystic circle could actually resist the mystic themself.

And Max was pretty sure Reeva did not reach more than one circle. Another thing he was shocked by was the fact that something devastated him and the knights were not at their full power.

"Apostle you needed to run! If what we fought earlier was not the whole power then we have no chance, we would just be holding you down! Continue north to find the saintess!"

Max shouted with all his voice, he needed the apostle to survive.

"See, even Max what us to leave"

"...." The Reeva’s other half gritted his teeth "No, we fight them here"

"Are you stupid? Oh right, you only get half the brain. Let me tell you this, we’ve got no chance against mother in this condition." The demon mocked him.

"We fight them, I don’t want to leave anyone behind"

Reeva thought back to the girl that he gave him a flower crown, to the knights who were defending him, the priest who lost their life, and to Max and Quin for helping him all the way here. He simply could not abandon them... he simply couldn’t allow it.

The demon also sensed this feeling and couldn’t help but twitch his eyebrow.

"Then what’re you gonna do, you knew full well that the power of fired ship ain’t gonna save you when a giant collection of vine came crashing down."

"...."

Reeva hasn’t got to that point yet, he simply running on his emotion here.

"Tch, half-brain jackass, don’t even have a plan when sprouting bullshit"

"If your half was so smart then think of something other than insulting me your dumbass." Reeva clapped back at the demon. Then they stayed silent for about a minute.

"You already have a solution don’t you?"

The demon half could sense a bit of the other brain and the Reeva half could sense the same too. But he gritted his teeth, this solution was not what he was looking for.

"That’s not a good solution"

"Let hear it," The demon asked "If not then we’d be out of options soon"

"Tch" Reeva didn’t like this option at all "We could have Quina and Max give their artifact over and we merge directly to 4th circle that would give us more than enough power to fight or evacuate the people... but as I said, this was not a good plan..."

At the 4th circle of power, the artifact that they bonded with had already solidified enough to create a mystic artifact upon death. Which Reeva could use to advance as a demi.

"Apostle, we were ready to give ourselves to the sun god. If that means it could save you and the rest of the people then I would gladly be burned by the sun." Max replied with no hesitation, Reeva couldn’t help but grimace, the reason he didn’t what to say such a thing was precisely this. They would helplessly though their lives away for the sun god.

"Me too" Quin also agreed to help.

"No, we’re not using this solution"

"You’re getting too emotional Reeva," The demon said with a smiling face "If we could guarantee that all of the people here survived except for Quin and Max"

"It’s not guaranteed, we don’t know what power we would get when three things merge together. And I did not want Quina and Max to die for it"

"Stop living in a fantasy, if you died here there would be no joy anymore, we would not feel joy anymore." The demon tried its hardest to convince Reeva.

"Then what? I would feel guilty all my life for abandoning them" He tried to make his case.

"Guilty? Why? They are willing to sacrifice themself for us Reeva, We have no time"

"No, no one will be dying today! Even if I have to sacrifice myself. Quin, Max the church only sent us to survey the place and give morale to the people. If I leave now I would be letting down the church and the people. If I can’t save these people then what Good Am I as an apostle? Help me save everyone here demon"
