Extra's Re-awakening: System Errors Made Me Too OP-Chapter 44: Primordial Fusion
At that exact moment, a faint crack appeared in the fabric of reality, leaving a small hole. From it poured a tremendous presence, sending ripples through existence itself. A massive figure descended from the opening in the sky, the ground shaking as if an earthquake had struck. The figure shared features with Zogratis, but the difference was clear. A vast, overwhelming surge of Primordial Essence.
It turned it’s head and faced his accomplice who had been killed, scattered to pieces beneath a crater, and it shook it’s head in disappointment. "That human, managed to defeat Zogratis?" It questioned with a slight hint of disbelief.
From it’s view in the sky, three out of the four humans were taken out and only one was left, that meant he was able to stand his ground against Zogratis.
Mazmuth’s eyes widened, trembling as his gaze was fixed on the demon that just came out of a hole in the sky.
"I—It can’t be... The Primordial demon general...?"
It levitated down towards Mazmuth slowly. "I sent Zogratis to retrieve you, after thirty seconds had passed I initially assumed something was wrong. I was right." It’s voice, even more distorted and deeper than Zogratis’s, thundered through the sky.
"Run kid..." Mazmuth whispered.
"Well, it doesn’t matter." He slowly raised his right index finger above his head as he spoke.
"Primordial Demon Art." He chanted quietly as a massive fireball formed above his finger, appearing from thin air. The demon general scoffed as it swelled, growing larger and larger until it towered far above Mazmuth himself.
The ground shook beneath them, unable to withstand the fireball’s intensity. Mazmuth’s eyes widened in terror as a chilling realization struck him, the demon general’s power far surpassed his own.
"Run!"
In the very next second, the demon general hurled the ball of fire at him. It tore through everything in its path, including Mazmuth, with relentless fury. Trees were incinerated, the air sizzled with heat, and the blazing sphere left a trail of black smoke in its wake.
Mazmuth managed to save Rai and the rest of the Soul-Hunters by swinging his trunk at them, hurling then far away from him, but he couldn’t escape it.
The flames faded, leaving Mazmuth’s scorched body lying half-dead on the charred ground. The demon general descended to the earth and slowly approached the beast, which struggled desperately to recover from the onslaught of fire. "Don’t worry, I made sure you wouldn’t die from that. After all we need you alive."
It extended its right hand forward, a triangular-shaped prism held firmly within its grasp. "Seal." With a single word, the prism glowed, pulling Mazmuth entirely into it. In the blink of an eye, he was sealed inside the prism.
"That makes four, soon, our plans will be made into reality." With a sense of triumph, it prepared to return to where it had come from. But a sudden groan caught its attention.
Turning to his back, he found Rai conscious on the ground groaning in pain.
"Oh? There’s still one alive? He was always useless till the end, oh well." With his distorted voice, he stretched his right hand towards Rai and the rest of the team who were unconscious.
"Primordial Demon Art." With a powerful chant, he unleashed another massive ball of flame toward Rai and the unconscious bodies lying behind him.
Rai’s eyes widened, he didn’t know what to do, he didn’t have the strength to outrun the ball of flames by himself, not to talk of saving the three Soul-Hunters behind him.
BOOM!
With a loud burst, the ball of flames exploded, splitting the skies into two as a testament to the demon general’s power.
The job was done, the demon turned around to depart but a sudden eerie feeling in his chest stopped him. "What?" He turned around as he couldn’t understand this feeling he harbored.
As he stared at the massive cloud of dust, he found something disturbing. Two pairs of huge, white glowing eyes stared down at him. As the dust cleared, he stood face-to-face with a massive purple dragon. Its scales glimmered like burning embers under the sun, and its vast wings throbbed with a dark, menacing energy.
The dragon threw back its head and unleashed a thunderous roar. The sound shook the earth, and a violent shockwave blasted outward, ripping through the once fruitful forest.
It spread it’s large wings which had a span of over 25 meters, over the Soul-Hunters which protected them from the blast.
"You again?" The dragon’s voice boomed through the air as it looked down at Kazuki, who was in terrible shape.
"To be able to summon me in such a condition, and without so much as a summoning seal... You’ve grown stronger child." The dragon spoke after a moment of calm, its tone carrying a hint of surprise.
"Oh?" A distorted voice echoed from afar, and the Primordial Demon General stared in mild astonishment, never having expected to witness such a sight—at least not in this realm.
"A Dragon? In the mortal realm?"
His voice immediately drew Kuriyami’s attention. He turned to face it and let out a soft chuckle.
"Hey, kid, I’m guessing you summoned me here because of him?"
"Yeah.." Rai replied, rising slowly to his feet.
"I see, in that case, it’s only fair to let you know. At your current power and mine, I cannot defeat the Primordial Demon General."
"What!?" Rai shouted. "But the earth Essen-Beast said you were the strongest of all the Primordial beings."
"Huh?" The dragon glanced down at him. "Mazmuth said that? Where the hell did you see him? He’s been missing for centuries now."
Rai explained all that happened so far, including the fact that the Primordial demon general had sealed him within a weird stone. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"I see." There was no time to feel sad or remorse for one of it’s kind, after all a danger far greater than both of them was present.
"The general standing before us is no ordinary general. He is part of the first order in the infernal realm."
"Wait wait wait, what?"
"There is no time to explain, there’s only one way we can be able to fend him off. We combine." The dragon said said, expanding his wings.
"Combine? As in we become one!?"
"Yes, in theory, to become one is called the Primordial Fusion, or in more appropriate terms as you humans may know it, Soul-Transfiguration."
Rai’s eyes widened in shock, not only was it the same technique Theron used against him, the Soul-Transfiguration wasn’t just any ability. Asides the abilities each Soul-Core granted it’s user. There were two stages of mastering the Soul-Core.
These stages were crucial in the development of a Soul-Hunter, and the first stage was the Soul-Transfiguration.
In theory, it meant merging with your true soul.
"It is an ability all Primordial Essen-Beasts possess. It is also the ultimate form of a Primordial." The dragon spoke as the demon stepped forward, ready to wipe both of them out.
"I see."
"However, I am not confident in fusing my soul with a kid who understands nothing." The dragon said bluntly. For centuries, the Primordial beings has been sought after, hunted by the Primordial demons just for their power. The human race was no different, in fact, they were considered worse.
At least the demons has agendas, them? They wanted to satisfy their greed, and Rai knew it all too well, so he understood Kuriyami’s concerns.
"I’m not like the rest of my kind who wants the Primordial beasts for power. I am what I’ve always been even back then, a survivor. Now, I am Rai Voltia, the Soul-Hunter who will defy his own fate in order to survive." As Rai spoke, the demon general lunged forward at incredible speed, aiming to destroy them both with a single strike.
"Trust me... Kuriyami" He spoke with a smile, though his face showed nothing but contempt.
Kuriyami’s eyes widened a bit in disbelief. Somehow, this kid knew his name. In their history, no one, not even the Primordial host of the Earth’s Essen-Beast knew it’s name. But Rai did.
"Fine then." The dragon scoffed, refusing to go soft on him just because he managed to learn his name. "I’ll do it." After all, Rai was his Primordial Host, and their life force was basically sealed with each other’s. So if Rai dies, he dies.
BOOM!
In an instant, a deafening, earth-shattering roar echoed through the Soul-King’s domain, followed by an explosion that sent rocks flying and gusts of wind roaring along the path for several meters.
"That should take care of them." The demon general spoke as his fist, wreathed in a blinding crimson light, shot forward.
"What?" It uttered, attempting to pull it’s fist away but it appeared as though it was stuck, held down by a powerful force.
"What!?" The demon exclaimed as the dust settled, and standing in front of him was no dragon, no human but the combination of both.
[You have awakened a dormant ability!]
[You have leveled up!]
[Dormant ability — Soul-Transfiguration.]
Rai’s body changed slightly as he fused with Kuriyami, the dragon’s purple scales which carried the powers of the shadows easily replaced his skin, his hands transfigured into that of a dragons. His cornea reconfigured into a vertical slit and his eyeballs turned purple.
"Soul-Transfiguration." He spoke, his voice warped with dual resonanc, the combined sound of his own voice and Kuriyami’s.
"Impossible." The demon spoke softly in disbelief, trying his best to free his hand from his grip.
"Primordial Art: Raisen." With his distorted, dual-toned voice, Rai lifted his other hand above his head, channeling their combined Soul-Energy into a spiraling dark ball of power. The fusion also let him tap partially into the dragon’s strength, making this the most powerful version of the technique yet.
He directed the spiraling ball of dark energy at the demon general. It was now or never, this was their only chance to defeat him, or they would be lost.
"Shit." The demon general said softly, vanishing from their presence instantly and reappearing in the air far away from them before it could hit him.
Rai dispelled the Raisen, and glanced in the air at the demon general.
"Primordial, how interesting. A mortal fusing with a Primordial being is certainly impossible." It spoke, briefly glancing at the prism that held Mazmuth sealed inside. Its goal had been temporarily achieved, so it saw no reason to continue fighting, except for the human standing before it.
"Rai Voltia was it?" It said, staring down at the fused human.
"Only a divine being is supposed to be able to fuse with a Primordial Beast of all beings, for a human to accomplish such without perishing. You, Rai Voltia, are the heaven’s greatest error."
"I have what I came for." It levitated higher into the air and like a stream of light, it passed through the crack in the sky which disappeared afterwards.
As the demon returned to where it came for, the time limit for the Soul-Transfiguration came to an end, the dragon and Kazuki split apart, returning to their individual bodies.
"Thanks Kuriyami, you saved us." Rai gasped, inhaling at intervals to catch his breath. He never expected the Soul-Transfiguration to take such a toll on his body. It meant he was still weak.
"The presence of a primordial demon on earth cannot be good. Rai, what you are up against is something beyond what you can comprehend. If you wish to survive and protect your world. Master the true powers of a Primordial."
"The true power of a Primordial?"
"That’s right, the abilities of a Primordial host goes far beyond summoning the Primordial beast he is linked to. I only hope you master this ability in time. Good luck." With his final words, he disappeared into a cloud of white smoke.
