Extra's Re-awakening: System Errors Made Me Too OP-Chapter 56: The Alchemic Soul-Core
Rai and Xander were hot on the woman’s trail, and in a matter of seconds, they caught up with her.
"Hmph, you’re fast." She couldn’t hide her admiration for their speed. It was the first time she had ever been pushed this hard in a chase, and all the more astonishing that her pursuers were just kids.
"But this is as far as you go, Soul-Technique: Hidden Mist." She murmured softly as she raced into the village. With a whispered incantation, a thick fog rose from the ground like curling smoke, instantly shrouding everything behind her before anyone even realized what was happening.
"Isn’t this!?"
They were stunned. That ability belonged to one of her accomplices, so how could she, of all people wield it? Soul-Techniques were unique to each hunter, and judging by her power to summon the mist, it likely came from a Sub-Elementalist Soul-Core, a core that was rarely ever activated.
"That should take care of them." She leaped onto the roof of a nearby house, landing gracefully as she looked down at the swirling fog below with a confident smile.
"What!?" As she turned, she found the two boys standing directly before her, and for the first time, she was left completely speechless. "How did you escape the fog?"
"You thought you could slow us down with that level of Soul-Energy?" Rai replied, a smug smile on his face. He had leveled up to the point where Soul-Techniques that once could overpower him now had little to no effect.
"Enough talk." Xander chimed in, stretching his right hand forward and infusing Soul-Energy into his palm. "Inner Souls or not, this will take care of you!" He dashed forward with incredible speed, and a swirling blue ball of flames shaped in his palm.
"Flame Soul-Technique: Prominence Wave!" He exclaimed, sending a powerful wave of blue fire at her. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
A faint smirk curved across her lips as the prominence wave drew near. Her eyes darted rapidly from right to left, scanning every edge of the approaching energy. Then, she extended her index finger and swiftly traced a pattern in the air, leaving a shimmering trail behind her.
"Alchemic Soul-Technique..." As she spoke, a massive circle materialized before her. In that same instant, the prominence wave vanished entirely, leaving no trace behind.
’What!?’ Xander exclaimed in his mind, struggling to comprehend what had just unfolded before him.
’What just happened?’ Rai realized that, while it seemed the magic circle had completely nullified the prominence wave, that wasn’t the case. The energy of the flames still pulsed faintly in the air, unmistakable and lingering.
"Could it be!?" In an instant, the wave of flames reappeared directly in front of Xander’s stomach, condensed into a tight blue ball of energy, and slammed into him with crushing force.
"Gh-Bleh!" The ball of energy exploded on impact, its force driving Xander several meters backward. He crashed into the ground, groaning in pain, a deep and terrible wound now marring his stomach.
"Xander!" Rai ran toward him, but a sudden tingling made his eyes widen. He turned to his left and saw the woman standing right beside him, smiling..
"Alchemic Soul-Technique: Soul Reversal." In her palm, a blue ball of flames formed. From anyone’s perspective, it was the same energy Xander had used moments ago, but stronger. Using Rai’s momentum against him, she aimed the blazing sphere straight at his ribs.
Once again, the explosive force of the flame ball sent him flying several meters backward, leaving a much larger wound along the side of his body than the one on Xander stomach.
"Grr...He groaned, holding the right side of his body.
"12,500 Joules, 5000 Newton, 7.14meter per second and seven meters." The woman spoke softly, her gaze fixed intently on Rai.
"Huh?" He didn’t understand a word she said.
"12,500 Joules was the estimated kinetic energy used in that attack, with a force of 5000 Newton, at a speed of 7.14meter per second and with a blast radius of 7 meters." She turned around.
"Just as evolution is science, fighting is also science." She pushed her glass back up the bridge of her nose. "I And when it comes to science, you cannot hope to defeat me."
"I have no business in killing children, this is your last warning, stay back." With a stern tone, she issued her warning as she continued moving forward with her plan.
’That was without a doubt Xander’s Soul-Technique, but more powerful than his, I thought she just redirected it back at him... But she did more than redirect it." He immediately recalled what she had said back in the exam hall. She had repeatedly spoken the names of each candidate’s Soul-Technique as they fought, almost as if she had been carefully studying them.
Then it hit him.
"The Alchemy Soul-Core, she has the ability to study the properties of a Soul-Technique by absorbing it, then after confirming the those calculations of hers, she multiplied it with her own Soul-Energy." Rai thought to himself as he slowly rose to his feet, wincing at the sharp pain in his side.
"Alchemists..." The first image that popped into his head was Yui. "They are all a pain in the neck."
Xander was still unconscious, his wounds slowly knitting together thanks to the Primordial Flame Essen-Beast within him. However, the healing took longer than expected, since the injury had been caused by his own power and had pierced through his exoskeleton.
"Shadow Recovery." As he spoke, a dark energy enveloped his body, restoring him to a state of perfect health. Every wound, illness, and even minor abnormality vanished under its influence.
"We got cocky and paid the price for it." As he spoke, an electric aura ran through his body, and the electric burden placed on him caused his hair to spike up. "Not anymore."
SWOOSH!
With a single step forward, he vanished from Xander’s side, leaving a gust of wind in his wake. Moments later, sparks of electricity flashed right in front of the woman, then he reappeared directly in front of her, causing her to halt in surprise.
He had already used the electric burst evolved.
"What!?" She gasped in shock, her eyes widening in disbelief as she saw Rai’s body fully healed and restored before her.
"I-Impossible!" She calculated everything, including the damage rate of the amplified Soul-Technique. "You should be suffering from major burns and organ injury! How can you still move!?"
"Like I said earlier, do you really think you can take me down with that level of Soul-Energy?" He replied calmly, his gaze briefly meeting hers.
The woman chuckled softly. "I see, Rai Voltia, maybe you are worth analyzing after all!" As she shouted, she lunged at him without warning, forming two balls of glowing energy in her palms and aiming them straight at his chest.
Unknown to Rai, it was Kaira’s Soul-Technique.
"Alchemy Soul-Technique: Soul Reversal — Double Light Barrage!"
With a soft sigh, Rai pivoted smoothly on his heel, shifting his position in a single fluid motion. His body rotated gracefully, and in one seamless movement, he extended his right arm to intercept the incoming strike.
With perfect timing, he guided the woman’s hands downward, turning her own momentum against her and sending her off balance.
"The Inner Souls, according to history you’re the kingdom’s greatest threat. But even at that, you’re too slow."
Her Soul Reversal, brimming with enough energy to demolish an entire building, erupted into a shockwave that threw her off her feet.
However, Rai remained unfazed, the Soul-Technique was far below his level. With a fluid motion, he twisted his body and thrust his right leg into the woman’s stomach, sending her hurtling several meters backward before she crashed into the ground.
"Tsk!" She let out a soft grunt, irritation flashing across her face as she scrambled to her feet. Just as she readied herself to strike again, a sudden question from him caught her completely off guard.
"What do you want with the Primordial Earth Essen-Beast?"
"What did you say?" She looked shocked, she had no idea what he was talking about, but the mention of the Primordial Essen-Beast caught her attention. It was something of myths, folklores that only existed in some parts of the kingdom, and she knew of it to. But unlike it’s true name, humanity referred to it as an A-Tier Soul-Beast.
"The Primordial Earth Essen-Beast-Beasts, what do you want with them?" He had questions that demanded immediate answers, not only did he want to know why they w anted the Primordial Earth Essen-Beast, he wanted to know about the true origins of Soul-Energy.
For a while, she had no idea what he was talking about. Then Rai sighed, and looked her straight in the eye. "What do you want with the Soul Stone.
"What?" Her eyes widened. "How do you know about our plans to retrieve the Soul Stone?"
"We ran into one of your members a while back, especially after pretending a member of the 14th Soul-Squad for so long. So what is it?" He asked with a stone cold face.
