F-Rank Soul Eater-Chapter 206: NATURE OF SHADES BY ELEMENT
Of course, like had Northern gate, the Southern gate was also protected by two giant Soul Mechas.
They looked no different from the ones in the northern gate.
The Southern gate was usually used as the exit point from the academy.
It was only natural that it was the easiest point for finding transportation.
After a few minutes of walking, they got to the train station.
It was empty.
Desolate.
Hollow.
The academy symbol was practically anywhere that could fit.
Pillars.
Walls.
As if marking the territory to intensionally keep people away.
Still, they took their seats on the bench, and waited. Soren turned to Sophia.
He noticed she had been quiet all through. Even when he had made the decision to do this—although surprised, she was still speechless for words.
And he had not even been sure she agreed, until Jo, one of her brothers, sent over a message.
Sophia, like the others, was dressed in a black tunic that constantly helped regulate temperature.
But what was different about her—from other times—was firstly, the way she let her blond hair down.
Usually, it was in a pony tail.
She stared blankly at a red ribbon, sitting a distance from the others.
Soren stood and walked over to her. "You need help with that?"
She shook her head, instinctively hiding the red ribbon in her pocket.
Behind, Bloodshine saw Soren approach Sophia and wanted to interfere, by Cynthia held her back.
"Aren’t you excited? I mean, you are about to go home." Soren asked
"Home?" She gave a slight mocking smile. "Haven’t called it that in a long time."
Soren was not expecting to hear that. Sophia looked even more depressed now.
Soren massaged the back of his head a little.
And the silence filled the space again.
"Soren, will this actually work?" She turned to him.
Hopeful.
Seeing those begging eyes, he really did not know what to say.
After all, it was not like he could tell her that his initial plan was to wing things out and see if he somehow manage to get her out of the oath with the noble family, or at least come to an agreement that still allows her to join his party.
But every part of sophia pleaded for comfort.
’What kind of hell did she go through to experience such a thing?’
He smiled. "Don’t worry. I will make sure we set you free of your oath,"
Sophia cracked a slight smile.
"...And then you can return to your brothers, happy."
The smile faded.
’Did i say something wrong, again?’
Just then, the train whistled as it arrived.
Just like Soren remembered it. Except this one looked smaller.
A door slide open and a figure walked out. He was in a full suit, and a hat.
From the badge on his clothes, it was clear that he was the conductor.
However, when he removed his hat, a face soren had never seen before, stared back.
Sophia, Bloodshine, and Polystar.
—used to the sight took their luggage as they approached the conductor.
"Its not polite to stare you know." Polystar whispered.
Soren came to his senses, picked his luggage and followed after.
But nearing the conductor, he could not help but wonder.
This was the same with Vass.
They were not to be blamed for this. The conductors face was...
wrong.
His eyes rested on his cheek bones, and mouth at his forehead.
They say ectoplasm poisoning affected people in all sorts of ways.
Death was the only way soren was familiar with.
This... deformation was the first time Soren was truly witnessing it.
After taking their seats, Soren opened a map on his wristwatch.
It was going to be a near two day trip by train.
And that was only because they had paid for speed.
The Imperial Soulforge Academy was located in the capital on the continent of North America.
Currently, they were proceeding south—to Southern america.
He would need some form of entertainment to pass the time.
’Yeah... I was reading about Shades. Where was I?’
Soren flipped to the part he stopped. But something caught his attention in the pages, and he went back to it.
NATURE OF SHADES BY ELEMENT
As observed, shades have abilities that inherently tie to observable natural forces.
Common examples are; Switch, a shade with abnormally high voltage abilities, predominant in battle, during the first generation war.
Ground Beef: A shade with the ability to morph its Soulbound warrior to dust.
Blue Hold, a shade capable of letting its Soulbound warrior spit blue flames.
The examples are inexhaustible.
Therefore, we can conclude that Shades primarily have abilities related to the following.
Fire / Plasma🔥
Earth 🪨
Air /Gases💨
Liquid 💧
Space 🌌
Time ⏳️
Soren’s eyes widened at this. This was a topic he had most been curious of.
These abilities are not fixed, as certain Shades may have secondary abilities or subset abilities of the above examples.
Example; Droplet: A shade that gave its user the ability to produce water molecules and project them at frightening speeds during the First generation war.
Droplet is a Shade classified under Air Nature.
Soren frowned. Was it not only natural for Droplet to be classified under liquid?
However, as he read more, he understood.
After all, water was not the only possible liquid.
And Droplet was essentially using a molecular combination of hydrogen and oxygen to produce water.
Furthermore, it made hydrogen at an atomic level explode just enough to allow the droplets become a lethal weapon. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
As Soren read more, he continued to understand how Shades were broken down in subsets or secondary abilities.
In truth, he was curious as to where Chronovore stood on this classification.
And finally, Soren cane to a conclusion.
Time and Space.
After all, the book clearly stated that when more research on Shades as a species is very needed, Shades that had Space and Time were the most mysterious of all.
For a second while reading, Soren felt maybe Dr. Kaya intensionally did not explain much on Space and Time, as these attributes were closer to her true nature.
Still, it was good knowledge.
But he still had a strong feeling he was right. Especially because it led to the next topic.
PREDICTIVE WEAKNESSES OF SHADES BASED ON NATURE WITH ELEMENTS.
