F-ranker Sword Saint: My Soulbound Sword is Secretly SSS-tier!-Chapter 305: The Legend
A pair of golden eyes opened, gazing upon a deluxe, oakwood ceiling.
Daru was reminded how soft his new bed was first thing in the morning, other memories flooding in as his wits formed.
His return to the academy with Cody and Elune was quite the mayhem...but the good kind.
The students wanted to swarm them, but were hesitant.
Principal Jebroham then personally received him and guided him to the most premium dormitory inside the academy, though he was only able to sleep there for a night.
It was very relaxing.
Then, yesterday morning, a team of servants and bodyguards suddenly picked him up.
They were from Iron Lotus.
The apex guild wanted to complete the contract signing as soon as possible, and Daru was of the same mind, lest something goes wrong later.
In the meeting, they had discussed that he, along with Cody and Elune, would be immediately transferred to the main guild headquarters in Cluster 1, Aziya, after graduation.
They would also be lent a property — a temporary, guarded compound where each one of them would have a small house to themselves — as their lodging near the Iron Lotus Main Headquarters.
Most of those sent to the main guild were arranged for only regular dormitory rooms.
While those accommodations were quite comfortable and were also heavily guarded for the regular guildsman’s safety, they had to pay for their lodging, even if at a greatly discounted price.
This already showed how much Iron Lotus was favoring the three of them.
Of course, this was not the actual signing property promised to them.
Another department of the guild will handle that matter, and apparently, they will be able to choose.
Well, Daru, at least, as he did not know what was promised to the couple.
He wasn’t in a rush to obtain the property, though. He wouldn’t be able to live in it yet, anyway. Not before he achieved Half-State.
Iron Lotus most likely wouldn’t allow it, either, as it would be far too dangerous for someone with no background like him.
No place is out of reach for the Ashwind Family, after all.
So, without being impervious to bullets and resistant to grenades, he could not stray too far from his guild.
Daru sighed and sat up in his plush bed.
He looked around for a few moments, still a bit bewildered by the sudden change in the quality of living, before standing up to prepare himself.
He had a meeting with the government today about the "final contract".
He wore his usual academy uniform — as he did not have anything else appropriate to wear — and exited his spacious room.
Daru then walked down the blackwood stairs, passed through the modestly posh living room, and left the temporary house arranged for him by Iron Lotus.
Outside, the same team of bodyguards and servants was already waiting.
He didn’t pay them much attention, heading straight for the black sedan waiting for him outside the metal fence gate.
The convenient transport sped off.
The driver seemed to already know where to take him, so Daru only stared out the window and watched as the bustling scenery of Edgehaven passed.
Around an hour later, they arrived in front of the Neo-Earth World Government Edgehaven Headquarters.
Daru was already quite familiar with this place, as he had been brought here by Hailey a few times.
Behind him, the team of bodyguards disembarked from the SUV as soon as he exited the black sedan.
They followed him closely as the government agent sent by Hailey led them to one of the buildings, and to Daru’s surprise, it wasn’t the usual.
His brows furrowed.
Still, he followed without hesitation. The bodyguards from Iron Lotus, too, until they weren’t allowed to anymore.
They’ve already accomplished their mission anyway — to ensure that Daru Finnley would be heading to the government headquarters to fulfill whatever that final contract was.
The guild was very eager to get it out of the way.
Daru glanced at the bodyguards for no longer than a moment before continuing deeper, finding himself standing in front of a huge double door.
He could not help but wonder why he was brought to this building this time.
To his surprise, the agent suddenly spoke:
"Lady Hailey had to attend to an urgent matter, so she arranged for another person to handle things in her stead. If you need anything, I’ll be right here."
With a bow, the agent encouraged Daru to enter.
He did.
The door creaked open with a push, and as soon as he entered, Daru noticed a familiar face.
Caleb waved and called him over with a slightly nervous smile.
In front of Caleb was a lean, ashen-haired, tan-skinned old man, looking at him with an interested smile.
Daru met the rather unimpressive elder’s gaze and bowed before proceeding to sit beside his friend.
The door clacked shut.
He had no idea who the casually dressed old man was, but fortunately, Caleb seemed eager to let him know of the elder’s identity.
"D-Daru, allow me to introduce you to Lord Edric Valemarch, widely known as Sword Saint Caladbolg, the mightiest. The skyholder of hu–"
"Alright, that’s enough from your stupid mouth, brat." Caladbolg chuckled. "Have some aura. Aren’t you an SS-ranker?"
Daru, meanwhile, was frozen in shock and disbelief.
Meeting the respected and feared Sword Saint today was definitely unexpected...and quite strange.
Why would the legendary Caladbolg come to meet him in person?
’Or was he merely in the area and so decided to take the matter in his own hands?’ Daru wondered.
Either way, the legendary man was in front of him, and it would be rude not to introduce himself.
"Lord Caladbolg. I’m Daru Finnley. It is my honor to meet you in person."
Caladbolg’s brows rose in surprise.
From what he heard, this young man is quite eccentric, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
"Why, you’re stiffer than an old man, lad. Let’s drop the formalities. I’m not fond of those, anyway. Also, as you know, this poor elder is quite overworked, and my schedule is packed, so let’s get this over with. Open the gate to that Lambo or something. We’ll talk on the way."
