F-ranker Sword Saint: My Soulbound Sword is Secretly SSS-tier!-Chapter 315: Easy Peasy
The mid-morn sun above Crownspire scorched the lands.
However, there was something even more fiery far beneath it. A duel.
Two young men, one with blonde hair and golden eyes and the other with faded copper, locked gazes as they stood a fair distance across from each other.
No one else, aside from Walker himself and the senior referee of Crownspire Arena, would bear witness to the upcoming duel.
Cindy could only wallow in regret that she could not watch the spectacle live.
Despite this, the atmosphere was anticipatory. The Iron Lotus Representative couldn’t say he was not thrilled.
In fact, he was taken aback by his guild’s talent’s rather extreme but practical suggestion, though more by the young man’s willingness to go through so many high-difficulty battles.
Walker even felt that Daru was quite happy with how things turned out.
’Well, I guess this explains why he’s at the top of his tier, at least...’ the representative chuckled inwardly.
Being half a nutjob was the first step in being unique, after all, though he couldn’t say he wasn’t worried.
Onimaru Kunitsuna would have to fight twenty-f*cking-three SS-rankers — the top 0.1% of his generation.
He had to somehow emerge victorious in all those duels if he wanted to keep his representative spot and the chance to rack up early Guild Contribution Points, more fame, and more value to his name.
Still, Walker was quite satisfied with how things turned out.
Daru Finnley’s courage and tinge of madness, at the very least, was already worthy of the guild’s investments.
The representative nodded at the referee. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
In the next moment, the official raised his arms, declaring: "Begin!"
The two youngsters exploded into action.
Both Daru and his opponent, Harpe, charged forward with no hesitation, oozing with confidence.
But not for long. At least for one of them.
An eerie black aura crept from Onimaru Kunitsuna’s handle, veiling the entire blade. Harpe, meanwhile, crackled with the hellish wrath of red lightning.
Soon, the two blades lashed at each other, a small cataclysm at the centre of the main stage.
The red lightning thrashed, a vein of it a viper that struck at Daru and grazed his left cheekbone.
Red cubic particles escaped from the minor wound.
However, Walker’s attention was on something else.
His heart skipped a beat in bewilderment as his eyes followed a young man who was sent skidding back, staggering, losing his balance, and rolling.
Harpe from Justicar’s Edge was not having a swell time.
Naturally, he was the one caught off guard the most. That strange, unassuming, insidious Sword Skill didn’t give him any sense of danger!
Harpe gritted his teeth, skillfully using the momentum to recover his footing as quickly as he could, but the moment he did, his enemy’s blade was upon him again.
There was no time to use any Sword Skill or do anything else except block the incoming attack.
Harpe raised his head to look at his opponent’s blade, his arms already moving to angle his sword.
Fortunately, his foe wasn’t using a Sword Skill this time.
An ear-piercing clang rang the next moment...and Walker was dumbfounded yet again.
The SS-ranker from Justicar’s Edge stumbled backwards, and the talented young man had to use a movement-type Sword Skill, a slick cartwheel, to gain enough distance to recover and stabilize his footing.
But Onimaru Kunitsuna also exploded forth in a short burst of speed, catching Harpe mid-tumble.
The next thing the SS-ranker knew, his opponent was gone, and although he noticed the looming shadow, it was already too late.
This was the first time Daru put his theory to the test, and it worked wonders.
While in mid-momentum of Swallow Step, he jumped and transitioned into Tornado Slash, greatly increasing the range, the speed, and the power of the D-ranked Sword Skill, as he was allowed more rotations.
The moment his foe looked up, he was already lashing down with his tachi.
Onimaru Kunitsuna cut Harpe’s face horizontally in half without any resistance.
The next thing Justicar Edge’s young talent knew, he was already standing at the respawn point.
He lost.
"W-Wait."
Harpe got the sudden urge to spout excuses, even though he had never done such a thing before.
It was understandable, though, as this was his first defeat. No one had been able to best him in the western region of Cluster 2, Afreia.
Still, Harpe was able to stop himself from looking pathetic.
He didn’t say another word, simply gritting his teeth and walking over to one of the VIP Seats close to the Iron Lotus Representative, arms crossed over his chest as he sat.
Walker, meanwhile, had just snapped out of his stupor.
While he did not look as stupid as he did during the first clash, it was clear that he was not expecting such domination, either.
Onimaru Kunitsuna had defeated an SS-ranker just like that? In less than a damned minute?!
Walker wanted to ask "how"...but didn’t he just witness it?
It started from that extremely powerful yet unassuming black Sword Skill.
Horrifyingly, the anomalous S-ranker seemed to know how to use his own kit well, clearly having a solid grasp on his winning strategy.
The Iron Lotus representative could already see many of the talented youngsters falling prey to Daru.
Suddenly and chillingly, winning twenty-three duels — all against SS-rankers — didn’t seem so difficult anymore.
Walker quickly understood how terrifying that realization truly was, his heart pounding even harder.
Onimaru Kunitsuna...this S-ranker was at least equivalent to a top-tier SS-ranker, no?!
What a find for his guild!
To make things better, this was just the beginning. No matter what happened in this mad event, his importance to the guild would skyrocket, as he would be the only one who would have a solid grasp of the anomalous talent’s abilities.
His words would have tremendous weight in the meetings, and his rivals could only drown in jealousy and envy.
Walker could not wait... but neither could Daru.
Locking gazes with the young man, the Iron Lotus Representative realized that his head was in the clouds.
"Next", he immediately called, putting a smile on Daru’s face as the arena staff went ahead to fetch the next challenger.
