Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind-Chapter 77 - 66: Leaving the Stone Cavern
Today marks the third day of safely surviving in this cave, as judged by Ji Lingruo’s observation of whether light passes through the crack in the stone; one light and one dark is considered a day.
Over the past three days, You Su has been meticulously nursing his injuries, ordering Ji Lingruo not to engage in any inappropriate actions as it would be detrimental to his recovery.
For the most part, Ji Lingruo obediently complied, but she enjoyed snuggling up to You Su during their late-night whispers, and every time You Su woke up, he found a soft pillow under his neck.
By the third day, You Su felt he had basically regained his mobility, as long as he avoided movements that involved the wound on his abdomen.
This escape was sudden, and the two of them had been frugal. The snacks and tea stored in You Su’s Qiankun Bag were nearly depleted.
You Su looked back at the increasingly thick white mist in the cave, knowing it was time to leave.
Yes, You Su could see again.
On the second night, Ji Lingruo, under the pretense of disgust, insisted on changing You Su’s bloodstained and torn clothes, saying she was afraid of wound infection.
But indeed, the clothes needed changing. Once the bloodstains dried, they stuck the wound to the fabric, which was unfavorable for recovery.
He originally planned to hide in a corner and change by himself, but it was still somewhat difficult to move, causing him to wince in pain. Ji Lingruo forcibly took the clothes from his hands and ordered him to lie on the tea table.
You Su, feeling awkward yet helpless, hated this powerless feeling but repeatedly found himself in such situations.
He could only cry out like a spoiled wife, "Don’t, don’t, don’t," finally compromising:
"Nothing happened to my lower body; no need to change."
Ji Lingruo unfastened his belt while smiling, "Well, the lower half does seem quite healthy."
You Su sighed inwardly, thinking his junior was now seventeen, having joined the Sect at fourteen, wondering where she learned these nonsensical things—could it be self-taught?
Previously, when interacting with his junior, they rarely spoke inappropriate words. Unexpectedly, after being possessed, his junior became bolder, her relentless attacks leaving him unable to defend himself, even suspecting this was the juvenile’s true nature shown only to him.
Nonetheless, facing his demon-possessed junior, he had to restrain himself.
The girl stripped his upper body bare, using a water-dampened handkerchief to carefully wipe away the bloodstains. Her delicate fingers deliberately or unintentionally roamed over You Su’s body, making You Su feel an intense sense of shame, his whole body tensing up.
Ji Lingruo blinked, her fingertips tracing the grooves of You Su’s abs, curiously asking:
"Senior Brother, aren’t you usually so calm and composed? Why so nervous just changing clothes?"
You Su had no reply, suddenly reminding:
"Junior Sister, I said no need to change the lower half."
"Hee hee, I almost forgot." Ji Lingruo withdrew her hand from the edge of You Su’s pants, suddenly exclaiming, "Ah! There’s a big snake!"
You Su knew that women are usually afraid of insects and snakes, and in desperation, he momentarily blacked out in a literal sense, then regained his vision.
He endured the pain, sat up, and looked around, but how could he find any snake under the candlelight?
"Junior Sister, where is the snake?"
Ji Lingruo giggled, pointing out the raising ’cobra’ between You Su’s legs, "On you."
Upon finishing, Ji Lingruo noticed the change in You Su’s eyes and promptly leaned in to inquire with concern.
You Su realized he was being teased by his junior, so he feigned a headache and body pain, causing Ji Lingruo to feel guilty and never daring to make such jokes again, dutifully helping You Su change his clothes.
Afterward, he somewhat understood that his integration with the Taisui flesh had further progressed. As long as he tried focusing his Divine Sense on his eyes, his vision would temporarily return for a short period.
After the vision faded, he repeatedly attempted to use his eyes, but to no effect.
Until now, as You Su followed behind Ji Lingruo, trying to clear the path ahead, he realized he could see again. He estimated the time separating the two instances of restored sight to be nearly a day.
The narrow passage was dark, and the candlelight couldn’t illuminate the deep darkness.
Because she could see, Ji Lingruo bravely took the lead.
She suddenly stopped, seizing You Su’s hand unreservedly:
"Don’t want you to get lost, hold my hand."
You Su smiled knowingly and grasped her hand in return.
Luckily, You Su kept his head down, and Ji Lingruo didn’t glance at him carefully, failing to notice that You Su’s eyes had once again turned black.
They groped forward for a while longer, feeling as though the surrounding darkness grew thicker and the chill more penetrating.
Ji Lingruo couldn’t help but ask:
"Senior Brother, should we turn back? Return to our stone cave?"
"We can’t stay there anymore, didn’t you say it’s already very foggy there?"
"What’s wrong with the fog? We’re also demon-possessed beings; could other evil spirits eat us?"
You Su was stumped by this question; whether demons would kill each other was something he hadn’t considered.
"Even if they won’t, we can’t stay there; our food and water are running out."
Suddenly, Ji Lingruo stopped, placing the candle on the ground. She hesitated to let go of You Su’s hand and used one hand to forage in her pocket, eventually pulling out three pieces of walnut cake, murmuring:
"Senior Brother, I still have some food here. If we save it, it could last you two days; why not go back?"
You Su was both touched and upset, tenderly saying:
"Junior Sister, aren’t you hungry?"
"I’m... I’m not very hungry."
"Why are you so silly?" You Su felt a sharp ache in his heart, "Quickly eat it; how could I bear to eat it while you’re depriving yourself like this?"
"Okay..."
"Aren’t you going to eat?" You Su’s tone, unusually, had a hint of anger.
Seeing You Su’s demeanor, Ji Lingruo reluctantly obeyed, painfully eating a piece of cake, and murmured:
"I’m full... I’ll save the rest for later."
Then she packed the cake, picked up the candle, and continued walking further inside.
You Su firmly squeezed Ji Lingruo’s hand, conveying his affection. The girl also squeezed back, giving her response.
Warmth flowed through their hearts as they continued forward in silence for a long time.
"Senior Brother, why don’t we return the way we came? We could go home. Who knows where this path leads?"
"What if the people trying to capture us are waiting outside the well?"
Ji Lingruo was momentarily baffled; her voice revealed sudden understanding:
"Oh, those people are so vile, they surely would do that."
You Su’s eyes returned to normal, but he didn’t panic. His Divine Sense had mostly recovered, and lacking sight was the state he was most familiar with.
Thus, the two of them continued conversing occasionally, exploring ahead. They moved slowly along the way, pausing frequently without knowing how long they walked until distant faint voices reached them.
