Chapter 101: Chapter 45: Crystal Force Field, Level 3 Natural Prophet_2
Success was but a step away, and Char naturally wanted to complete his profession change as quickly as possible.
These past days, whenever he felt in good condition, he had attempted it.
Now, perhaps due to the confluence of happy events, he felt his condition was better than ever before.
Entering the carriage, Char found the Praying Light Sword resting on a shelf.
The Praying Light Sword, devoid of the Morning Light, looked like a simple and elegant Knight Sword, with several notches of varying sizes on the blade—nothing eye-catching at all.
If it weren’t for the Star Worm circling above it, Char might have had to search for a while before noticing it.
Without disturbing the Praying Light Sword, Char just glanced at it and then withdrew his gaze, proceeding into the Prayer Room.
In the Prayer Room, many strands of Praying Power floated above the Prayer Tablet, making the room as splendid with gold and glittering with stars as always.
Looking at the many strands of Praying Power, Char felt like an old farmer beholding a bountiful harvest, his mood lifting even further.
He sat down with his legs crossed and began to construct his very first Spell once more.
As a powerful and Rare Profession, Natural Prophet spells were mostly unique. All of their spells were derived from universal spells, innovated or slightly innovated upon them.
The Magic Model Char was about to construct was no exception.
This Spell was called "Crystal Force Field," a cantrip belonging to the trick level.
Although it was a cantrip, it was much stronger than the average one due to its exclusivity to the Natural Prophet, comparable to a Level 1 Spell—this was explicitly mentioned in the Magic Book left by Kedel.
It wasn’t Char bragging about his own merchandise.
The Crystal Force Field, derived from the Mage’s cantrip "Blade Protection," forms a crystal-like protective force field around the Spellcaster upon release.
Compared to Blade Protection, the Crystal Force Field was more comprehensive.
Blade Protection only outlined a protective seal, small in protective area and only offering some defense against bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from weapon attacks. It offered little effect against Magic attacks.
But Crystal Force Field was different. Not only was it a 360-degree protection with no blind spots, but it also resisted both physical and Magical attacks.
More importantly, its Defense Value was much higher than that of Blade Protection!
Therefore, even though Crystal Force Field was one of the more challenging cantrips in the Natural Prophet’s list, Char had chosen it without hesitation.
For Char, he wasn’t lacking in attack capabilities at the moment—with the Thunder Night Dragon and Fierce Sword Firefly at his service, what use would a Level 3 Natural Prophet’s cantrip of Attack Magic be?
But Crystal Force Field was different; learning it would immediately enhance his survivability.
What he lacked now was his own defensive capability. Of all the Skills from his Magic Pets, not one could enhance his defense, leaving him with only the "Steel Skin" that came with the Wild Boar Dagger.
Oh, and there was the Power of Earth.
However, even with the Power of Earth, his defensive ability was still too poor.
It was no issue if the opponent didn’t hit him, but once they did, it could be disastrous.
His defense was not comparable to his attack power (the attack capabilities of his Magic Pets were his own), severely lopsided—high offense, low defense, fragile body.
...
As Char focused, Magic Power within him began to perform precise and complex maneuvers, forming intricate Magic Runes from numerous Magic Particles, rapidly constructing a complex pattern.
Time ticked by, and Char’s face grew increasingly pale, sweat continuously emerging, his undershirt completely soaked through, and his sweat even dampened a patch of the floor.
Constructing a Magic Model was somewhat like those highly skilled surgeons in his previous world performing a complex operation, a triple test of talent, willpower, and physical strength.
Those without talent couldn’t even perform those precise, complex operations, and no matter how much they practiced, what couldn’t be done, simply couldn’t be done. Talent forever shut them out.
Even those with talent had to endure countless grueling practices, each attempt consuming a significant amount of energy and physical strength.
Each aspect demanded a lot from a person.
Therefore, it was no wonder that Char looked so frail at the moment, hanging on solely by willpower.
However, his persistence was clearly not without meaning.
As numerous Magic Runes were born, arranged, and constructed, a crystal-like Magic Model appeared inside Char.
’Almost there! Hold on!’
Char focused all his mental strength, desperately maintaining the Magic Model from collapsing while carefully gathering the last few Magic Runes, adding them to the Crystal Force Field’s Magic Model.
Finally, the last Magic Rune fell into its designated place, and the next second, the crystal suddenly shone brightly, completely taking shape.
Char opened his eyes, and in that moment, sweat poured out from his pores like a flood, making him even more drenched, and even caused the world before his eyes to darken, as if he would faint the next second.
But Char didn’t care about that; his body was tired, but his spirit was exhilarated.
With a thought, the spell was immediately triggered, and a "crystal" appeared beside Char, enveloping his entire body within.
The crystal distorted the light around him, causing his figure to appear twisted to various degrees.
He excitedly stood up, walked out of the Prayer Room, and then said to the Star Worm, which was sleeping beside the Praying Light Sword, "Star Worm, wake up! Hurry, try attacking me."
The Star Worm, roused from sleep and still somewhat groggy, finally came around after Char repeated himself and then sent a part of the stars surrounding itself charging towards Char.
Of course, it launched the attack at an angle to ensure that even if it penetrated Char’s Defense, it would still hit an empty space.
Numerous stars turned into fine points of light that struck the Crystal Force Field, immediately causing the crystal to shine as well, but the Crystal Force Field didn’t break from the impact and still protected Char’s whole body.
"That will do."
Having initially tested the protective strength of the Crystal Force Field, Char called for a halt and then summoned his personal panel.

Finally!
Char heaved a sigh from deep within, feeling like he had finally accomplished a significant task after a long effort; he felt both a sense of relief and a profound sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
Not only that, he found that although he had changed his profession to a Natural Prophet, the archer skill "Universal Arrow Skill" had not disappeared.
It made sense; it wouldn’t be that an archer, upon changing professions to a Spellcaster, would forget how to shoot arrows, right? The change in profession should only affect the unique spell-like abilities of the original profession.
If he had mastered more skills as an archer, perhaps some might have disappeared, but since he only had "Universal Arrow Skill", it remained.
However, there were still effects; the Universal Arrow Skill that was originally lv2 was now reduced to lv1, not because his arrow shooting itself had worsened, but because the loss of the archer’s spell-like abilities meant both his arrow’s lethal power and speed had decreased.
And so, his Level naturally fell.
Looking at his panel, his strength seemed to have not changed much, and even seemed to have decreased somewhat due to the decline of Universal Arrow Skill, but that was only because he had just learned the "Crystal Force Field" spell. As he mastered more spells, his combat power would rapidly soar.
The Crystal Force Field was merely a 0-ring trick, but as a Level 3 Natural Prophet, he was able to learn 1-ring Spells.
