Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 485 - 257: Frost Iron Guard Doesn’t Need Evidence to Make an Arrest!
...
...
Frostleaf Town, Lord’s Manor Hall.
"Their caravan didn’t depart from Red Gryphon Castle, our people didn’t notice it."
Durant reported, "It’s our people in the Western Province who discovered an unfamiliar caravan, and after investigating, they found it belonged to the Red Gryphon Clan."
Rod pondered, speaking slowly,
"Since they have already started trading, it means Long Winter Town has reached some agreement with the Red Gryphon Clan."
"I remember the baron lord of Long Winter Town is from the Shield-Breaker Clan, right?" Rod asked.
"Yes, Slore Shieldbreaker, nephew of the Count of Rock Shield Mountain."
Durant explained, "Previously, we had a brief cooperation in clearing the lizardman’s burial pit, with Baron Blom’s guidance."
"Unexpectedly, he is now cooperating with the Red Gryphon Clan..."
Durant couldn’t help but sigh.
"Joining forces against the lizardmen was only because of a common enemy, there was no real friendship."
Rod, unsurprised, with a hint of a sneer said, "As long as the Red Gryphon Clan offers enough benefits, temporary collaborators like us don’t mean much."
Durant nodded in agreement.
Rod paused, instructing, "Go and bring Blom here, he often cooperated with that Slore before and should know a lot."
"Yes, my lord baron."
Durant replied respectfully.
Just as he was about to turn and find Blom, a guard hurriedly arrived,
"My lord, the patrol team discovered a messenger."
The guard reported, "The messenger claims to be from Long Winter Town, an envoy from the Baron of Long Winter, here to deliver a message to you."
Rod furrowed his brow, exchanging a glance with Durant.
"Sending me a message at this time probably isn’t anything good."
Rod waved his hand, instructing, "Bring him in."
...
...
One day later.
In front of the gates of Frostleaf Town Manor.
A man in a dark blue formal coat stood before the guard.
The man’s blond hair was impeccably groomed, with Long Winter Town’s emblem embroidered on his chest, a professional smile on his face.
"I am the messenger from Long Winter Town, assistant to Baron Slore, Ke’aug Whitewood."
The man bowed slightly to the guard, his movements as precise as a textbook.
"Here to seek an audience with the honorable Lord Rod, to deliver a message."
The Frost Iron Guard looked unemotionally at the man who seemed pretentious, feeling an inexplicable dislike. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Wait here."
The Frost Iron Guard turned and entered the mansion.
Ke’aug stood in place, as poised as a statue.
Yet his eyes subtly observed everything around him.
"This Frostleaf Town is richer than expected, with forty to fifty guards in total, even a city wall built..."
Ke’aug kept calculating inwardly, "I don’t know if the baron’s decision this time is the right one."
"But with the Red Gryphon Clan’s order, this Baron Rod shouldn’t be able to do much."
Thinking that, Ke’aug grew a bit more confident and couldn’t help but straighten his back.
A moment later, the guard returned.
With two sword-bearing guards following him.
"The lord has agreed to see you."
Guard Serge stepped forward, speaking without expression, "No carrying of items is allowed, we need to conduct a search."
"I am a messenger, with no weapons."
Ke’aug spread his arms, "Feel free to search."
Serge stepped forward carefully searching, after confirming there were no weapons, he made way,
"Please follow me."
Ke’aug nodded in thanks, following Serge lightly.
Seemingly polite, but intentionally slowing his pace, secretly observing his surroundings.
"The scenery of Frostleaf Town is indeed captivating."
Ke’aug said to the guard next to him, Serge, "No wonder Miss Avril would be willing to stay here for long."
Serge didn’t understand the implication of Ke’aug’s words, but found them unpleasant and didn’t respond.
Serge quickened his steps, leading Ke’aug into the hall.
Inside the hall.
Rod sat upright on the main seat.
Beside him stood half-masked Vivian and Lawrence, then Durant, Rein, Wolfhoof, and Seronie stood on both sides of the hall.
Gang Le and Chris, busy in the desert capturing alien laborers, were not in Frostleaf Town; otherwise, they too would be in the hall.
Ke’aug’s gaze swept across, immediately sensing the atmosphere was somewhat off.
However, he had anticipated this before becoming a messenger and was not overly flustered.
Ke’aug removed his hat, offering a perfect noble bow.
"Honorable Lord Rod, good day."
"I am Ke’aug Whitewood, the messenger of the Lord of Long Winter Town."
"I’ve come today regarding an important matter."
Rod looked at him blankly, simply watching him indifferently.
"Speak."
Ke’aug maintained his smile, taking out a letter from his bosom.
"This is a handwritten letter from my lord, mainly concerning Miss Avril of the Red Gryphon Clan."
Ke’aug held the letter high, as if showcasing a treasure.
"Miss Avril has been here for too long. Now the Red Gryphon Clan has arranged a marriage alliance with the Shield-Breaker Clan, marrying Miss Avril to Baron Slore; she is no longer suited to stay in Frostleaf Town."
The atmosphere in the hall instantly grew tense, everyone tightened their grip on their weapons simultaneously.
Even the always-calm Durant furrowed his brows, gritting his teeth.
Yet Ke’aug seemed unaware, still maintaining his smile.
Rod remained calm, smiling as he gestured for Vivian.
Vivian frowned, stepping forward, taking the letter and breaking the wax seal, placing it in front of Rod.
Rod glanced over the contents of the letter.
A moment later, Rod looked up and said calmly, "I understand."
"Honored baron, this matter involves two earl families."
Ke’aug smiled, "May I remind you to handle this according to protocol, and send Miss Avril to Long Winter Town as soon as possible..."
