Chapter 63: Irrelevant.

"So." Armstrong said, turning to Bethany, his dark hawk-like eyes accessing her, filled with lust and dark thoughts, as always. "Will you introduce me to your friend?"

"No." Theodore answered, coldly, his eyes still trained on the older man, while something really dark bubbled in his chest.

The older man was finally giving him reasons to end his miserable life.

"No?" Armstrong said in disbelief. "C’mon man. That’s not nice." He said chuckling, but not enough to hide his irritation.

"She can’t be that unimportant. I mean you’re sitting with her in a park." He baited again, narrowing his eyes.

"Yeah, and? " Theodore asked, his eyebrow arched.

Armstrong was left dazed for a few seconds, before regaining his composure, arranging his jacket.

"It’s okay. I take the hint." He said, nodding slowly, turning back to Theodore.

"However, Mr Macgyver. I’d still love to do business with you. I know your company is currently under duress, and you know I have more than enough resources to help out. So, whenever you decide you might need me, you know where to find me." He bellowed, his tone far from casual.

For some reason, Bethany couldn’t help but feel that despite how kind his words sounded, it was just the same as an outstretched arm with really sharp nails on it.

Swallowing, she took deep breaths, praying the scary man was going to live already.

"Thank you for your very generous offer, but I believe we’d do just fine." Theo clipped, his eyes clear and emotionless, the dark bubbling in his chest doubling.

"Alright then. The offer still stands, though. Have a lovely day, Mr Macgyver." He said.

"You too, Mr Armstrong." Theo said, nodding, moving to the side so he could leave.

Returning the nod, the older man walked away, but not before giving Theo a small smirk.

The farther he was from them, the softer the air became, it felt like the dark cloud that had been drawn over them had finally dissipated.

Theodore sat calmly on his seat, his imposing aura dissipating as well to a more softer one.

Bethany just sat there, observing him, his tense shoulders showing just how deep his thoughts were. The older man might have gotten to him, but she was glad, Theo got to him as well. fгeewebnovёl.com

She could only hope her day wasn’t ruined for the second or third time.

After a while, she stood up from her seat, straightening her skirt. Theo watched her pick her purse from the table, hanging it around shoulders, before straightening before him.

"What is it?" He asked, a small smile on his lips.

"Come on." She said, stretching out her arm.

"What is it, Princess?" He asked chuckling abit as he took her hand, getting up from the seat.

"You wanted to show me the city. I’m ready now." She said, looking into up into his eyes, her eyes stopping at his lips for a brief moment.

She wanted to reach up and peck him, but wasn’t sure how to in her boots, she pecked the back of his hand instead.

Theo stared at her with something else in his eyes, something she wasn’t able to read. He pulled her closer to him. Leaning down, he kissed her for the second time that day, deeper than he had done earlier, finally igniting that other side of her that made her yearn for him.

After a few seconds, he pulled away, his eyes, soft and moisty.

"Let’s go get that ice cream." He said, and she nodded in response, picking his phones from the table, and handing them to him.

They walked for a while in silence down the street, holding hands but knee deep in their individual thoughts.

As Bethany took in the buildings, things and people surrounding her, she couldn’t help but think back to the ominous Mr Armstrong.

Why she couldn’t put him out her head, she didn’t know, but she wasn’t oblivious to how much he had affected Theo.

They both looked like they had shared a long dark history, history Theo obviously never wanted to be a part of anymore, even though it haunted him.

She has questions, lots and lots of them, but she knew she just had to give him some space, probably enough.

What was with her and her men’s past today?

It pissed her off but, she was going to walk through it. She had to.

Deciding to move past everything for the mean time, she really focused on not just the buildings but the people around her as well, and in no time, she was completely fascinated.

Dusk was already down, and it was getting dark. Many fun stores were beginning to open. People flooded the streets, talking, laughing, shouting, she even caught a glimpse of a couple arguing not too far away.

Everyone seemed to be in their own world, not minding her, how she looked, or what she wore. Sure she got a few compliments on her outfit and skin, but that was it.

No one looked twice at her in a judging way, and for the first time, she didn’t feel so bad about being invisible. She felt powerful even.

And slowly, she began loosening up.

"I need a drink." She said to Theo, turning to him, for the first time since they begun strolling.

"Mmm, we are close to the ice cream shop, can you wait?" He asked softly, but his voice was hoarse.

She could only imagine what he could have been thinking about that made his voice so hoarse.

"Yeah I can." She said, nodding.

"Okay." He muttered, but she was already back to people and things watching.

She observed the way humans moved, without any cares in the world. No one ordering them around, she hadn’t even spotted one training center, meanwhile in ever pack, there was more than two.

There were no kids running loose on the streets, but the ones she saw with their parents looked happier than ever.

And for a second she couldn’t help but think, that if she was ever raised like that, in a town filled with people who are too obsessed with their lives to care about how irrelevant you are; would she have ever had a problem with being invisible and irrelevant?
