Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose.-Chapter 284: Their monster.
Leilani.
The first time I was paid my salary at the end of the month, I had tried to get a Saint Laurent shoe from a middleman named Joe, and maybe I was still so stupid because who the fuck gets things from someone with the name; ’Joe.’?
But that aside, I paid about five thousand dollars— another mistake— for the shoe, only to get some filthy thing from Walmart the next day.
Soooo moral of the story is: you should understand how devastated I was. How utterly miserable I felt after learning that I had just been scammed...
And that is exactly how I felt when Zevran pulled the door open and Caelum and Kael rushed in, both panting like they’d just run a marathon. Both cursing under their breaths because apparently, we had left them outside for a little too long.
When their eyes snagged on mine, they froze and then Caelum exhaled deeply, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he hissed through gritted teeth; "You’re safe."
"Was I supposed to be unsafe?" I bit back, sounding way harsher than I intended.
His face crumbled at my words, but quickly returning his smile to his face, he shrugged and said; "That’s not what I mean,"
But I was far from listening to him. I was way beyond having any form of civil conversation with them. I pushed away from where I stood and began to walk back to my kitchen, and as I moved, I could hear the sounds of their footsteps echoing behind me. I could feel the way they followed cautiously, as if afraid to walk too loudly or to walk past me.
"Leilani, Chalice has been caught," Kael said suddenly, startling me, and for some reason, that was enough for me to stop mid track.
I spun around quickly to face them and to my utter confusion, they all backed away quickly as if I would hurt them. You know how it is when an abusive parent hovers over you?
—Sikeee, you probably cannot relate to that but I can.
I frowned. "What’s that?"
"What’s what?" Zevran mumbled,
"Why are you three acting that way? Aren’t you big bad Alphas anymore? Why are you behaving like I would hit you?" I snapped and rolled my eyes when they flinched even more.
"Because we cannot afford to get on your bad side right now," Caelum cut in softly, pouting in a way that I would’ve found cute if I wasn’t so anti-triplets, "we’ll just hang around behind you..."
"You don’t have to hang around my house now. You should leave." I hissed, feeling my anger beginning to sizzle just underneath the surface of my skin, "Chalice has been found. She can no longer hurt me..."
"But Louis escaped." Kael finished, his voice stone cold, sending chills down my spine.
Amongst the three, he was the one who seemed the most detached today. He looked like he was Merlin— and he doesn’t even have the weight of the whole world on his shoulders.
I shrugged; "Louis knows better than to try to attack me. He knows he’ll only be a fool if he comes back here after everything."
The meaning behind my words probably flew over their heads as they then shook their heads at me, and then Kael drawled; "Maybe that is true but we won’t leave, we’ll protect you."
And goddess, something about those words made me irritated yet confused. Irritated because I needed them out of my hair as quickly as possible and confused because I never thought them to be this stubborn... this persistent.
Gosh, Chalice must’ve been the only one to see this side of them.
The thought of Chalice had me gritting my teeth together. "But I don’t want you to... I do not wish to have you around or to have anything to do with—" I began to say but stopped when they pushed somewhat closer, the heats from their bodies burning through my clothes as they pressed against me.
I also hated that as soon as my body made contact with theirs, heat seared. Sparks flew. Goddess, I hated how my body welcomed them like they were gloves and I was a hand.
"Do not be this way, please. We want you, Leilani... we always have. Always would. Please take this as our way of saying sorry. For everything, for not believing you... for letting our judgements be clouded by Chalice and her theatrics..." Caelum said softly, his voice trailing off, his breath warm and ticklish against my fingers that he brought up to his lips as his other hand trailed downward until it found the warm spot between my thighs.
My eyes snagged on his full lips— pink and inviting; But they’d been kissed by another. My sister.
But I do not do leftovers.
I sighed exasperatedly, shaking my head to rid myself of this pitiful sight and the stupid flutter at the base of my stomach. I then clenched my legs together to force his hands out, but he didn’t budge.
"No." I said sharply, my voice coming out stronger than I expected especially with their bodies pressed against mine, and their lips creating sparks across my body— something that I hated. "I don’t feel the same way. Go back to Chalice... she suits you better than I ever did. Better than I ever would..."
"Leilani—"
"You three should know that we can never ever work out, whether you’re sorry or not. Whether you intend to make up for lost times or not..."
Kael’s voice vibrated through my body as he pressed himself flush against me. His brothers Caelum and Zevran leaned in too, their lips on the shell of my ears, one’s fingers grazing over my taut nipple.
"I’ll burn the world, Leilani," he growled, his voice deep. Threatening. "I’ll burn the entire world, if that’s what it takes to win you back."
I should have found these words thrilling to hear. Goddess they should have even made butterflies take flight around the base of my stomach; but unfortunately, I only found them lacking.
I frowned; "Then I’d like to see you try. I’d love to meet you after the world’s been successfully burnt down. Maybe then we’ll have this conversation." I answered, and with that, I pushed their hands away and pushed away from the wall.
And as I walked out of the kitchen, I felt their eyes drilling holes into my back, hotter than a thousand lasers all at once.
But I didn’t falter.
I didn’t turn around.
I was the monster they’d made.
