Chapter 139: Chapter 139 Promotion and Salary Increase (3)

"I’ve already eaten. You should go see a doctor!" Ye Guihua couldn’t stand her crying and fawning anymore and said coldly.

Hmph! Better if you don’t eat! She could save herself the trouble of running outside!

Chen Wenyu thought to herself, forced a stiff smile at Ye Guihua, then turned and left.

Soon, hearing the footsteps fade away, Ye Guihua immediately turned her face and glared at Song Guotao with disappointment. "Are you blind? What do you see in a girl like that? Just because she’s young and pretty?"

"Mom, haven’t I told you? I was just confused for a moment!" After Chen Wenyu’s bout of crying, Song Guotao was already in a bad mood. Hearing Ye Guihua’s scolding again, he got impatient and vented his emotions directly, since he had no reservations in front of his mother.

Seeing his attitude, Ye Guihua felt she was asking for trouble. Her son had grown up, and she couldn’t control him anymore! She said angrily, "Fine, I don’t want to care about your business anymore! I’ll go back to my hometown after visiting Xuanxuan."

Going back to her hometown?

Hearing those words, Song Guotao panicked!

His mother was his support right now. He couldn’t let her leave just after arriving!

"Mom, I’m really sorry! I’m just frustrated by all these things, that’s why I spoke to you like that." Song Guotao hurriedly apologized with regret, then asked, "Are you tired? How about you sleep on the bed for a while?"

With that, Song Guotao pointed to the folding bed beside the hospital bed.

Chen Wenyu had been staying with him for the past few days, so they specifically bought a folding bed for the room to make her more comfortable at night.

Ye Guihua softened at his apology. Besides, she was tired from the overnight train ride and had not slept well; being older, she no longer had the energy she once did. Coming here from the hometown had really worn her out. So, she didn’t stay angry much longer and lay down on the folding bed after taking off her coat.

Time Coffee Shop.

After the Black Dragon Gang caused trouble last time, the coffee shop took a break and only reopened yesterday. Following Li Bao’er’s suggestion, Mi Jing and she decided to hire two college students part-time to enjoy the leisure of being bosses.

"Isn’t Lulu coming over? It’s already past time, why hasn’t she arrived yet?" Li Bao’er, reclining on the balcony sofa and feeling a bit tired from reading a novel, checked her phone and muttered to Mi Jing, who was painting nearby.

"Bao’er, are you too idle? Lulu didn’t mention when she’d arrive, so why do you care when she comes?" Mi Jing didn’t look up, focusing on the drawing as she bantered back.

"I just miss her!" Li Bao’er playfully pouted and shrugged her shoulders, acting cutesy.

Hearing that, Mi Jing almost shivered. Could she act normally around her? Clearly more of a tomboy, trying to fake a delicate demeanor just to disgust her!

"Really? It’s rare for you to miss me. Could it be you didn’t attend my wedding and now feel guilty?" Mi Jing hadn’t yet retorted to Li Bao’er when Bai Lulu’s teasing voice rang out. Hearing it, Li Bao’er and Mi Jing looked up to see Bai Lulu’s joyful face.

"I didn’t attend your wedding? Did that happen? Funny, I just remember giving you a big red envelope!" Li Bao’er feigned ignorance and diverted the topic, "Why so happy? Found money?"

"Almost like finding money." Bai Lulu laughed as she settled down beside Li Bao’er.

Almost like finding money?

What could be almost like finding money?

Mi Jing paused her painting, deep in thought, when Li Bao’er suddenly said, "Were you taken care of by a sugar daddy?"

"Get lost! Do you think I’m like you, with no morals!" Bai Lulu immediately rolled her eyes at Li Bao’er.

"Hmph! How do I have no morals!" Li Bao’er slapped Bai Lulu’s thigh, eyeing her with jealousy, "Don’t tell me you got a promotion and a raise!"

"Bao’er, you’re so smart!" Bai Lulu grabbed Li Bao’er’s chubby cheeks and gave them a squeeze, smiling till her eyes narrowed.

"Bai Lulu, let go! Is my face for you to touch?" Li Bao’er’s features were twisted, and she retaliated by grabbing Bai Lulu’s cheeks.

Watching her friends playfully bicker, Mi Jing rolled her eyes and sighed, "You two need to stop! Combined, you’re almost fifty or sixty, yet still so childish!"

"Pfft! It was Bai Rourou who started it first." Li Bao’er retorted, calling her by her nickname.

"Alright, Baozi, I apologize. Let’s count to three and let go together." Bai Lulu suggested.

"Fine! But you must confess, how did you get the promotion? Was it through unscrupulous means or connections?" As she finished speaking, Li Bao’er glanced at Mi Jing.

"Deal!"

Bai Lulu, not liking the idea of continuing their cheek-pulling chat, agreed readily. They counted to three and let go simultaneously, freeing each other’s faces.

"Ahem!"

Bai Lulu cleared her throat and straightened her suit for effect, looking dignified with her hands on her lap.

"Stop being pretentious! Spit it out!" Li Bao’er slapped the back of Bai Lulu’s head.

"I was just about to! Don’t interrupt!" Bai Lulu scolded, then composed herself, eyed Mi Jing, then Li Bao’er. Her slow movements were filled with suspense, making both nearly want to push her away.

"Ahem!"

Bai Lulu cleared her throat again, which earned sharp glares from Mi Jing and Li Bao’er. Smirking, she said, "Where should I begin..."

"Lulu, do you want us to throw you onto the street?" Mi Jing, losing patience, raised an eyebrow in warning. Meanwhile, Li Bao’er scooted closer, slinging her arm around Bai Lulu’s shoulder, her grip hardly gentle.
