Chapter 204: Chapter 204: He Wants to Be the Brightest Star in Her Life

"Aren’t you afraid of using your brother’s card..." You know, Shen Lingxing can be really terrifying when he’s mad!

"Silly! No way I would take you along! Definitely not bringing Yu and Yaoyao either." She really didn’t want her brother to skin them alive!

She sure thought this through well!

Mi Jing sighed inwardly. She then thought that maybe she should be grateful that Shen Xing’er dismissed the idea. If she had done something crazy like that, how would she handle the aftermath?

On the way back to the city, Mi Jing and Shen Xing’er chatted happily. She was in a great mood. After meeting up with Xia Yu and Tong Yao, the four women strolled around, did some beauty treatments, and ate, not missing a single activity. After three hours of wandering around, they each returned home.

"Woof woof..."

At six-thirty in the evening, Shen Lingxing had just opened the door and a flurry of white fur rushed towards him, rubbing against his leg and wagging its tail energetically.

This was Xuanxuan’s pet dog. Shen Lingxing had seen it several times at Mi Jing’s parents’ house, so the dog didn’t act aggressively towards him.

"Isn’t this dog cute? It’s welcoming you home." Mi Jing glanced at the little dog happily wagging its tail by Shen Lingxing’s feet. As she took his briefcase, she smiled and asked.

Shen Lingxing didn’t have a special fondness for animals, especially knowing that this dog was a gift from Han Bin to Mi Jing. The dog’s presence made his feelings complicated.

"Why is it here?" Shen Lingxing asked casually.

"My parents are leaving for a trip tomorrow, and there’s no one to take care of Kabi at home, so I brought it over." After explaining, Mi Jing noticed Shen Lingxing’s unexpectedly calm reaction and asked, "Do you not like dogs?"

"They’re okay. I don’t dislike them." Shen Lingxing could tell Mi Jing was very fond of the dog, so to avoid dampening her spirits, he grudgingly accepted its presence.

"That’s good." With that, Mi Jing cheerfully called out to the dog, "Come on baby, let’s go take a bath."

Kabi was a very intelligent dog. As soon as Mi Jing began to walk, it immediately abandoned Shen Lingxing and ran to follow her.

Just like that?

Watching Mi Jing and the dog leave, Shen Lingxing felt a tinge of sadness, a sense of being overlooked.

Previously, when he came home from work, Mi Jing would always focus her attention on him, whether they ate at home or went out. But today, she didn’t even ask if he had eaten dinner, distracted by a pet dog!

With the heater on in the house, Shen Lingxing casually put his coat on the sofa and walked toward the bathroom.

Mi Jing had already filled the bath for Kabi. The dog was very obedient, fully accustomed to frequent baths, and even in this new environment, it showed no signs of discomfort.

Sitting on a small stool, Mi Jing placed Kabi in its special bath basin, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to bathe him expertly.

"Not going to eat?" Hearing footsteps, Mi Jing looked up at the door, her bright eyes gazing at Shen Lingxing.

"You won’t join me for dinner?" Shen Lingxing stopped at the door, leaning against the doorframe casually but with a calm expression and a touch of hidden melancholy between his brows.

"I ate a lot with Xing’er and the others, so I’m not hungry now." Mi Jing looked up at Shen Lingxing. "Dinner was cooked by Mrs. Xu, it’s all your favorite dishes, eat while it’s hot!"

Hearing this, Shen Lingxing glanced at Kabi in the bath basin licking its tongue, then he pursed his lips and turned away.

Mrs. Xu was a good cook, and the food was still warm in the kitchen, giving off a faint aroma. Though Shen Lingxing had gotten used to Mi Jing’s cooking lately, Mrs. Xu’s cuisine, despite being tasty, didn’t stir his appetite.

After eating a few bites, Shen Lingxing cleaned up the dishes and moved to the living room to watch TV.

"Baby, don’t be naughty, sit still."

"Woof woof..."

The TV volume was low, but Mi Jing’s conversation with the dog carried over clearly to Shen Lingxing.

Usually, after dinner, Mi Jing would either watch TV with Shen Lingxing, take a walk downstairs, or enjoy the night view and stargazing on the balcony. Basically, whatever they did, Shen Lingxing would be Mi Jing’s focus. But now, due to the dog’s presence, he felt neglected, which was distressing.

Trying to get Mi Jing’s attention, Shen Lingxing turned up the TV volume, though he wasn’t paying attention to the news. His gaze fell on Mi Jing, who hadn’t noticed his mixed emotions, as she carefully dried the dog’s wet fur with its special hairdryer.

After about ten minutes, the hairdryer’s noise stopped. Mi Jing gently placed the dog in its bed, then casually chatted with it while petting its fur in a motherly manner, as if she were caring for her child.

Can a dog really be more appealing than him?

Thinking this, Shen Lingxing frowned slightly and called out to Mi Jing from the living room, "Honey."

"Huh? Did you need something?" Mi Jing stood up slowly, looking at Shen Lingxing.

"I’m thirsty, can you make me some tea?" Shen Lingxing smiled gently, his tone warm.

"Okay, wait a moment." Shen Lingxing rarely asked her to do this, so Mi Jing was momentarily surprised before snapping back to reality and answering with a smile.

Since the elders at home enjoyed drinking tea, Mi Jing was skilled and fast at brewing it. In just a few minutes, she made a pot of fragrant Longjing tea and poured a cup for Shen Lingxing, placing it on the coffee table in front of him.

"Don’t go, sit with me for a while." Seeing Mi Jing turn to leave, Shen Lingxing quickly grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his embrace.

"What’s going on? Is there something you want to talk to me about?" Mi Jing’s eyes were filled with confusion, sensing something unusual about Shen Lingxing tonight.

"No," Shen Lingxing denied firmly.
