Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 959: The Reason for Hiding the Truth
Before parting ways, Yvonne Shepherd and Shane Shepherd solemnly expressed their apologies to Nora Northwood. ππππ¦ππππππ·ππ.πΈπ°π
In response to their apology, Noraβs reaction was somewhat indifferent.
She endured the onslaught of the virus day and night, and she couldnβt completely disregard it.
Yvonne and Shane fully understood this, and without wanting to make things unpleasant for themselves, they took their leave just seconds before the meal was served by the waiter.
Nora watched their silhouettes disappear, and as she turned back to the table full of dishes, she found everything tasteless.
Jasper Sinclair noticed her mood shift, "Did it affect your mood?"
"A little," Nora admitted openly.
She put down her utensils and leaned slightly against the chair back.
The golden sunlight streamed through the glass window, casting its glow on her, and the frowned expression seemed oddly disharmonious against the orange light.
Jasper gave her hand a gentle squeeze, "Filling your stomach is most important."
The man in the custom-made shirt, illuminated by the restaurantβs lights, had a gentle smile at the corners of his lips, making one feel momentarily dazed.
Nora secretly groaned: This is a seduction!
Immediately, she picked up the intricately carved silver fork and cut into the mousse.
The creamy texture was light and melted in the mouth, lifting her spirits along with it.
Nora kept her head down, focusing intently on the mousse, her expression obscured by her curled lashes, from Jasperβs angle, he could barely make out the outline of her brows and eyes.
Perhaps finding the mousse too sweet, Nora looked for her next target and quickly set her sights on the crepe.
The man beside her grew somewhat impatient, "Is there anything else youβd like to know?"
"Will you tell me?"
"I will."
Noraβs dark eyes whirled around, and then she posed her first question.
"You and Rachel Woodward intended to hide something from me; thatβs what your conversation was about earlier, isnβt it?"
Actually, before she asked the question, Nora already had the answer in her heart, but she still wanted to hear Jasper tell her himself.
"Thatβs roughly what it was about."
"Will they find a cure for me?"
"It doesnβt matter, Professor Bishop has made new progress."
Noraβs emotions fluctuated significantly, "When did this happen?"
"Before we came to Paris, I hadnβt had the chance to tell you."
"Is it that you didnβt have the chance, or you never intended to tell me at all?"
With a light laugh, Jasper said with a hint of resignation, "Nora, sometimes being too smart isnβt necessarily a good thing."
Nora was right, Jasper indeed had no plans to tell her.
It was merely progress along one path to developing the cure.
Jasper was unwilling to talk too much about the research lab matters, as if deliberately emphasizing that Nora was an unhealthy person.
Therefore, in their daily conversations, he would intentionally or unintentionally avoid the topic.
In his understanding, as long as the cure was not developed, there was no need for further discussion.
After all, Nora wasnβt a mind reader; she could only guess half of his thoughts.
Now she had guessed the first half, but couldnβt figure out his motivations.
"Why didnβt you tell me?" Nora asked.
