Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 996: The Elder Forgotten by Time
Jasper Sinclair heard this so-called "abrupt" question and squinted slightly, "Nora, to confirm cooperation with someone, at the very least, you need to conduct a basic background check on them. You didn’t even manage to do this, did you?"
Nora Northwood’s negligence at work was thus mercilessly pointed out, making it somewhat embarrassing for her.
The collaboration on the garden project had always been handled by Lily Sloan, and as for whether Lily had conducted a background check on the partners, Nora was completely unaware.
Of course, this doesn’t mean she can shirk her responsibilities.
Ultimately, it’s still her negligence at work; clearly, she was just praised half an hour ago...
Nora sighed inwardly: Indeed, people can’t handle praise!
She twisted open the cap of the mineral water bottle, took a sip of the clear water, and then responded, "The investigation regarding VK has always focused on the work aspect. As for family matters, we don’t dig too deeply."
"This time, consider it a reminder: Family investigations are equally important. Otherwise, how could wealthy wives form circles?"
Nora suddenly understood, "I get it now."
Compared to her shifting emotions, Jasper appeared much calmer; from beginning to end, he merely lifted an eyelid.
"Now, I’ll answer the question you just asked."
Nora turned to look at Jasper, mixed with complexity, indifference, confusion... There was an indescribable feeling about him. In short, he was unhappy.
This made Nora think of the overall relationship between Grandpa Sinclair and the Sinclair Family, which didn’t seem particularly friendly.
So, before Jasper could utter his words, she interrupted him, "Jasper, if you don’t want to say much, you don’t have to."
Only then did Jasper realize that Nora misunderstood his meaning.
He smiled helplessly, "It’s not that I don’t want to talk, just that the process isn’t easy to understand."
Outside the glass car window, the scenery constantly changed, while inside the carriage, Jasper calmly narrated.
"Grandpa dedicated his life to scientific research. In the year I graduated, he handed the Sinclair Group to me, and the next year, he left the Sinclair Family."
"Was there a conflict between the two?"
What Jasper said was indeed spot on; Nora didn’t quite understand.
"People involved in research require especially high investment. Grandpa often traveled the world, and the family would influence his creative thinking. The old man would only return every few years, and over time, his affection with the family faded. To avoid upsetting Grandma, everyone rarely mentioned anything about Grandpa."
...
Jasper talked all the way, and Nora listened all the way.
By the end, Nora summed it up with one sentence: Grandpa Sinclair is a research brain!
"Will it be awkward when everyone has dinner together?"
"With me around, it won’t be. Grandpa knows about you, he just hasn’t met you."
As he said this, the man tightened his grip on Nora’s wrist slightly.
About twenty minutes later, the vehicle came to a steady stop in front of an old-fashioned restaurant, where the doorman came and opened the car door, allowing Jasper to step out first.
He gently reminded the person behind him, "The road is icy, take it slow."
Upon hearing this, Nora’s movements getting out of the car slowed down immediately.
Her shoe soles on the ground could still feel the ice layer.
Jasper already extended his hand, waiting for her to place her palm on it. There was always this tacit understanding between the two of them.
