Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 819: Direct Answer
Blake Carter’s expression was still complex, unspeakable, but he didn’t say anything more.
He decided to keep quiet, so naturally, the others had no objections.
The equity transfer was a great success, and next was the annual reports from each shareholder. The entire meeting took the whole morning.
When it was finally lunchtime, the meeting had just ended, and as Silas Sinclair was leaving, he patted Evelyn Clayton on the shoulder and smiled, asking her to personally call Pauline Warren, otherwise, he wouldn’t be at ease.
Evelyn agreed, sent Silas Sinclair to the elevator, and then left.
A-May was nowhere to be seen. Evelyn glanced at her phone and saw a message from A-May ten minutes ago saying she had something to do and went back to the department.
Evelyn didn’t think much of it, got on the elevator, and planned to return to her office to eat something first.
On the nineteenth floor, as Evelyn stepped into the entrance of the fashion design department’s office area, all the employees cheered, their voices almost lifting the roof.
Unknown to her, people were ambushed on both sides, setting off two tubes of confetti with a bang.
Evelyn was drenched in confetti fireworks, standing there, unable to decide whether to laugh or cry.
A-May came forward holding a small cake, smiling brightly, and said, "Surprise! Congratulations to you, Evelyn, on your promotion and salary increase... Wait, no, on becoming a member of the board, taking us all to new heights!"
The employees cheered again, and amidst the clamorous voices, Evelyn smiled helplessly, blew out the candle on the small cake, and readily accepted the cake.
She pretended to dislike it, "Is this tiny cake how you celebrate for me?"
A-May chuckled and said, "Oh well, who told you to keep it such a secret, Evelyn? If I hadn’t attended the meeting today, I might not even know you became a new shareholder! This cake was a last-minute order from the downstairs café. You make do first, and in the evening, I’ll treat the department to dinner and get you a bigger cake!"
Evelyn replied earnestly, "How can it be right to let you treat us? If we’re celebrating, I should be the one treating."
Upon hearing this, the employees naturally were delighted.
One bold person even directly asked if she was the Sinclairs’ eldest daughter. Evelyn smiled, didn’t answer directly, and urged them to get back to work, saying if they didn’t finish by the end of the day, there’d be no dinner party.
After dealing with the employees, Evelyn went straight back to her office.
Just as she went in and hadn’t sat down yet, A-May was at the door again.
This time, her expression held a hint of pride, she winked at Evelyn, "Evelyn, Winnie Wyatt is here."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow lightly, but wasn’t surprised, just smiled inwardly and asked, "Does she need something?"
"She didn’t say, just asked if you were available."
After thinking for a moment, Evelyn said, "Invite her in."
After a short while, A-May led Winnie Wyatt in.
Evelyn put down the file in her hand, leisurely looking at Winnie Wyatt.
Under Evelyn’s gaze, Winnie Wyatt’s eyes flickered momentarily.
She cleared her throat and closed the office door.
The atmosphere in the office immediately became somewhat awkward.
Evelyn didn’t seem to mind, while Winnie Wyatt was at a loss, trying to speak several times but didn’t.
Eventually, Evelyn broke the silence first, smiling, and asked, "Director Wyatt, is there something you needed?"
"No," Winnie replied reflexively, then looked annoyed, lowering her eyes as if organizing her words.
Evelyn laughed out loud.
"Winnie Wyatt, are you going to be like this every time you see me from now on?"
