Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 297: The ritual
All the colors from Edwin’s face got drained up when he saw the shiny portal that was before him. His timid attitude made Oberon frown. He only recruited this man for this quest as he assumed him to be loyal and bold. But this man was acting like a coward. He turned to Lyra and shook his head in disbelief. She already had told him not to recruit this man—but Oberon didn’t listen!
"Edwin," Oberon roared. "Are you up to this or not?"
Edwin flinched at his tone. He immediately said," Yes! I am up to this, your highness! Your wishes are my command—"
Edwin only said that as he had no other choice than that. This did or die! Now that he knew about the true face of the King, he was aware that he would be dead if he said no now! He had to get into the portal along with the King and do this quest!
He gathered up all the little courage that he had left in his body and stepped near the portal. As soon as he walked out of the portal, he was in a totally different land. The sun wasn’t shining up in the sky anymore. And the atmosphere was cooler than it was in the Celestial realm. This place smells like venom and death!
This place is none other than the land of venom! This is a forbidden land where even the shadow creatures hesitate to lay their foot on. Cause, the serpents are the most vicious and dangerous shadow creatures! They don’t hesitate to kill their fellow shadow creatures for their personal gain.
Edwin took a deep breath and glanced at Oberon and the pretty serpent girl who was standing next to him. Unlike him, they both were staring at the greenish-dark castle before them with determination. And Edwin can bet that they weren’t here for any good cause. He wondered why they even bought him here. ’Why me? Out of all people?! Why can’t it be Vivian? He is physically stronger than me?!’ he thought.
Lyra led them both into the castle. Edwin got even more scared when he saw the Serpent guards who were wandering in the castle. And the worst part was that they had their tails on! If anyone of them decided to sink their poisonous fang into Edwin’s delicate skin, he would be done! Edwin shuddered again at that thought. How was he going to take a stand in a scary place like this?!
Soon we reached a dark chamber that had only minimum light torches on the wall around. This place was dark, but it was more luxurious than the other regions. This must be the chamber of the King, he thought. And he was right!
The Serpent King was casually seated on the settee along with a handsome man with tanned skin. He had purple eyes and dark hair! He had seen this man before! But he couldn’t remember when and where.
Judging by his appearance he was able to assume that this one was an Incubus. ’This is great! The last thing I needed was to be greeted by the Incubus!’ he shuddered.
Then it hit him! An Incubus that looked exactly like him had attacked Celestia in the woods. But this one has both of his hands. Silver Shadow broke one hand of the Incubus that assaulted Celestia. He understood that this one must be related to that one in some way. And he was surprised at all! Oberon himself had told him that he was the one who planned to attack his daughter.
The Serpent King and Oberon hugged each other as if they were friends ever since they were kids. "You are finally here," the Fae King said.
"Yes," Oberon said and parted from him. "And it is the time! Let us begin the ritual—"
Then everyone moved near the fire pit that was in the center of the room. Edwin wondered why this fire was set up in the middle of the room. They could have set up this somewhere else, like in an open ground maybe! But Edwin didn’t dare to open his mouth and ask his questions to them. Instead, he silently moved away from the fire pit until his back hit the wall. He can watch this ritual thing from a distance—and he can go there if someone calls him!
The Serpent King took out a piece of paper from the pocket of his cloak. Then he started chanting by looking at the paper.
"Great Lord of Darkness! We are gathered here to fulfill your prophecy. It was your will to bring the era of destruction and we are here to perform your will!"
Edwin tried hard to not get intimidated by the whole thing, but he failed in that. The righteous Fae King had turned dark and now he is summoning something that is probably going to bring out destruction.
He wasn’t even scared of this ritual. He wasn’t scared of the Serpents or this dark place. But he was scared for the well-being of the entire light realm. All the light creatures depend on the Fae King to rescue them from evil. But how can those people be rescued if the King himself is evil? What hope did they all have?!
Celestia can’t save them either! She is completely drained of her powers. Edwin had a strange feeling that Silver Shadow might save them. Yet, he refused to give in to that thought. He is an Anti-Angel and he is another form of evil.
Edwin came to the conclusion that they all were doomed either way. No one can save them! Very soon their entire realm is going to be drowned in the darkness. Never in his wildest dreams did he think that there would come a day when everything and everyone around him would get consumed by the darkness.
’At least I should save Celestia from this evilness,’ he thought and clenched his fists together. No matter what happens or what darkness arrives in the lands, he will do his best to save the girl he loves.
