Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 298: The Shadow Fae
This is not the first time Edwin was seeing a ritual in his life. He has seen many and sometimes he has even performed them. But those rituals were done for good causes. And the one that was happening before him was to bring out the era of destruction. Edwin didn’t know what it meant—but when the Serpent King read the dark prophecy, he was enlightened by it. The Incubus named Aaron is the chosen one for this and this ritual was going to give him immense power.
Edwin realized that he had to stop this ritual at any cost. If this ritual was going to bring destruction to the people in his land, then he has to do anything and everything to stop this. But how could he do that?! He can’t fight against these four people. Two of them are serpents and one of them is the mighty Fae King. He can defeat the Incubus easily, yet he will be doomed either way by the other three. They are so much stronger than him! 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Edwin had never felt this much powerless in his life. He was a well-respected warrior in his land! Now he was covering against the wall like a coward while the era of destruction was going to begin soon!
He then shut his eyes tight and the first thing he thought about was Celestia. He pictured her pretty smile in his mind and how her golden locks flew behind her in the wind. Then he decided that he would have to do this for her. Even if he dies in this process, he must succeed in this. Only then Celestia wouldn’t be harmed!
He opened his eyes again and determinedly eyes the handsome Incubus who was staring at the fire pit. He is the chosen one! If this chosen one does before the ritual, then the prophecy will not be fulfilled! The era of destruction will not arrive. The people will be safe!
He realized that he would have to do this for the welfare of his people and Celestia. It is time for him to become the sacrifice, just like Celestia did for everyone years ago. He laughed to himself when he thought about the irony of fate. He had appreciated Celestia a lot of times for her noble sacrifice. Now he was going to do that too! And he was not regretting it at all!
Cause, he was aware that he would have to do something like this before he even arrived here. And that is why he had written a letter in detail and gave it to Ember. He told Ember to give that letter to Celestia once he was gone. So he had no regrets! In that letter, he had mentioned everything about Oberon and he also wrote how much he loved her. He knew that Celestia would never love him back. Yet, he wanted her to know about this as he was going to die soon.
Edwin clutched his sheath determinedly as it was now or never. If he runs there now and beheads that Incubus, then everything will be over. There will be no era of destruction! Just when he was about to take out his sword, something unexpected happened.
Oberon took out his sword from his very own sheath and he beheaded the Incubus in a second. The rest of them were petrified when Aaron’s head got detached from his body and fell into the pit of fire. Then his headless body fell on the ground and the floor around it got bloody.
It took a while for Edwin to process the scene that happened right now. He was going to do that! But Oberon did it even before him. But why?!
The Serpent King was the first one to react. "Oberon, what the hell was that?" he yelled at him. "Why did you kill the chosen one?"
"Because he is not the chosen one," Oberon replied and gave us all another shock.
"What are you saying? If he is not the chosen one, then who is it?"
"It is me," Oberon snapped. "I am the chosen one. The prophecy is only about me—"
They all fell silent! And Edwin was dazed to his bones. ’What should I do now? Should I have to kill Oberon instead?’ he thought. Just when he was about to make up his mind, something dark like smoke came out of the fire, and it all got inside Oberon. The aura around the Fae King became dark and his eyes weren’t blue anymore. They became ruby red.
Only after that did the Serpent King look convinced. He understood that the Dark Lord had answered the ritual by giving his powers to Oberon. It means that Oberon is the chosen one!
The Serpent King immediately fell on his knees before Oberon. Lyra joined him and did the same. After a while, Oberon’s entire appearance was changed. A pair of dark wings grew behind his back indicating that he was no more a creature of light alone. He has been blessed by the darkness itself!
Once the dark smoke around him disappeared, he looked down at the Serpent King and said, "The ritual is completed now! I am not a Fae anymore! I am a Shadow Fae with an equal amount of light and dark powers!"
Then Oberon took out a paper from his cloak pocket and gave it to Lyra. She was stunned when she read it. It was the same prophecy of the destruction era—but the wordings were different. There was no mention of an exiled Incubus prince, but it was given that the King of light himself would turn to darkness and pour out his darkness all over the land.
"So this is... this is...." Lyra stammered. "You gave us the wrong prophecy? And this is the right one?!"
"Yes," Oberon nodded.
"But why?!"
"Because I don’t trust anybody," he said and pointed at the headless body of Aaron. "Trusting others will lead to this—"
