Forgotten Love: Mr. President, Mrs. Fordham Has Rejected You!-Chapter 171: Welcome Back to the World of the Living
The next day, small flakes of snow started to fall again.
On the bed, Aiden Fordham stirred. At this moment, his mind felt like it was playing a fast-forwarded movie.
Every scene was related to Stella, showing her jumping into the icy, bone-chilling sea just to grab the antidote that could save his life.
There was also the scene of her cutting her own wrist, using her warm blood to detoxify him. And the scene of her patiently feeding him meal by meal.
Then there were the scenes of them kissing passionately in the vast snow, her accompanying him to Skylake Peak to watch the snow, her piercing, heart-wrenching screams...
Every frame, every second, was tearing at his heart.
His brainwaves crazily fluctuated on the monitor, with steep peaks, as if about to reach its limit.
He was like a fierce beast trapped in a cage, about to break free at this moment.
"Stella!" he suddenly shouted the name, opening his eyes.
Above him was an exquisite ceiling light, the entire room snow-white, with several oil paintings hanging on the walls.
He raised his hand, waving it in front of his eyes.
He could see.
He could see the world again.
He ripped off the monitoring wires from his body, and the machine instantly emitted a piercing scream.
Keegan Lindsey and the doctor rushed in first. Seeing the man sitting up on the hospital bed, Keegan’s delight overflowed.
"President Fordham, you’re awake! Can you see?"
Aiden gave him a glance, his gaze sharp as ever, his face brimming with uncontrollable urgency, and asked immediately:
"Where is Stella?"
Keegan was greatly shocked; President Fordham could really see!
"Madam... Madam is downstairs."
Before he finished speaking, Aiden had already jumped out of bed barefoot and dashed straight to the balcony.
Pushing the door open, the cold wind rushed in, and he saw that beautiful figure.
She was holding an elegant floral umbrella, slowly walking through the vast white snow, with a few purple-red Seven-color brocade flowers in her hand, standing in the snow, proud and ethereal.
He was a bit dazed, his throat seemingly choked, unable to utter a word.
Moisture quickly gathered in his eyes; it had been so long, so very long since he had seen her face in person.
Stella had also noticed him.
He stood on the second-floor balcony, the north wind blowing his thin patient’s gown, his black hair dancing wildly. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Her body trembled uncontrollably.
He was back, she knew he would definitely come back.
She lifted her head, shouting at him.
"Aiden Fordham."
"Aiden Fordham!"
"Aiden Fordham!"
She shouted three times, and the lost soul on the balcony finally came to his senses.
He turned around, barefoot, running crazily down the stairs.
He ran with all his might to her, stopping only when he was close, still panting heavily, with an intense joy that could no longer be concealed in his deep eyes.
Looking at him, she gently smiled.
"Aiden Fordham, welcome back to the world."
He could no longer restrain himself.
The love that surged within his heart, the longing deep in his soul, all burst out at this moment.
He reached out his trembling hand, gently cradled her face, and kissed her deeply.
This kiss was passionate and lingering, filled with the excitement of returning from death.
Carrying the scorching love hidden deep in the soul.
And the heartbeat’s unrest after experiencing life and death together.
It was as if he wanted to swallow her whole, merging her into his bones and blood.
The cold wind of winter felt tender.
Keegan stood not far away, watching this scene more beautiful and touching than any movie, and couldn’t help but take out his phone, secretly filming a video.
Beautiful, truly beautiful!
...
Meanwhile, in an abandoned factory on the outskirts, Vivi Sterling huddled behind a rusty metal barrel, shivering all over like a frightened rabbit.
Alvin Fletcher had just returned from outside, standing in front of her, his tall figure casting a shadow.
"Miss Sterling, we should go."
Vivi lifted her bloodshot eyes, her voice terribly hoarse, "What about him? What about Zane?"
Alvin lowered his eyes, avoiding her gaze, "Mr. Zimmerman... he succumbed to his injuries and passed away."
"Boom." Vivi’s mind exploded into complete blankness.
She stared at him fiercely, forcing out each word,
"What... did... you... say?"
"Before he passed, Mr. Zimmerman instructed me to escort you to Skylake Peak, where Mr. Fordham will arrange for you to return home."
Alvin took out something wrapped in cloth from his pocket and handed it over.
The cloth was printed with a small cat pattern, still carrying the warmth of a man.
Vivi, with trembling hands, unwrapped it layer by layer, revealing half a cracked silver mask inside.
It was Zane’s mask.
His mask that he never parted with.
"No..." Unbidden, tears streamed down, crashing onto that half mask.
"You’re lying! There’s no way he could die!"
She clung to his sleeve, shaking it desperately as if clinging to the last straw of hope.
Alvin, with a pained expression, spoke in a hoarse voice.
"Mr. Zimmerman never betrayed you. The previous entanglement with Miss West was him finding someone to impersonate himself. This was Miss West’s revenge—through it all, he had... only Miss Sterling in his heart."
All of Vivi’s strength was drained.
Grieving, she held that half-cold mask and slowly, fainted.
...
At Skylake Peak, for the entire day, Keegan acted as a shiny third wheel.
Of a particularly high wattage.
He served tea and fruit, handed out towels, never taking his eyes off Aiden Fordham.
The boss’s health was directly tied to his future!
After a day of probing, he finally figured it out.
President Fordham had selectively lost three memories.
The first being what occurred on his birthday night.
The second was the issue of throwing his wife into the swimming pool.
The third was when his wife had a high fever, and he kept vigil day and night, remembering nothing in between.
Good grief, this amnesia selectively chooses to forget his inhuman moments?
In the evening, Aiden went upstairs, with Keegan following him like a shadow.
Aiden stopped and coldly glanced back at him.
"What?"
"Do you want me to cuddle you to sleep tonight?"
Keegan shivered, shaking his head like a rattle drum, and swiftly rolled away.
Aiden walked up to Stella’s room door, lifted his hand, and knocked gently.
The door opened.
Stella had just finished bathing, carrying a misty warmth and the fresh fragrance of shower gel.
She was casually wiping her wet hair with a towel.
"What is it?" she asked.
Aiden’s gaze blazed with intensity, staring straight at her.
"I want to go stargazing with you."
Stella looked out the window; the night sky was as dark as a black cloth.
"The sky is so dark, there’s no stars to see."
He arrogantly said, "Where there’s Stella, there’s a sky full of stars."
After speaking, he smoothly slipped into the room.
Stella was startled, instinctively stepping back, helplessly saying, "Then bring a chair and go onto the balcony to look."
But he simply walked over to her, taking the towel from her hand.
His distinct fingers threaded through her hair, gently wiping it.
His gentle gaze fell on the bandage wrapped around her wrist, causing a dull ache in his chest.
"Stella."
His voice was low, close to her ear, carrying an enticing magnetism.
"Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. Without you, I wouldn’t be in this world."
"So, I want to repay you properly."
"Repay me?" Stella was a bit dazed, feeling something was off with him.
"By devoting myself to you." He resolutely uttered the four words.
Stella was completely stunned, this phrase... why so familiar?
She turned her face away, dodging his heated breath, "Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet, better get some rest early."
He suddenly exerted a force, lifting her horizontally and placing her steadily on the dressing table.
Lowering his head, a domineering kiss descended...
