Chapter 948: Chapter 948: Off Work_1

Alexander Summers returned to the hospital room and brought up the subject of marriage with Purple Summers.

His expression was serious, filled with a sense of concern, “Relying on that little salary, we need to buy a marriage house and prepare a dowry, and if we also book a banquet hall, it’s a bit of a stretch. It would be too much of a loss if the quality of the wedding were to suffer because of this. Later, you talk to him. If there’s not enough money, I’ll chip in. The way he looks, it seems like he wants to be the big spender.”

Purple couldn’t help but laugh at him.

The laughter triggered the pain in her abdominal wound, making her gasp for air, and Alexander hurriedly asked her what was wrong.

Purple waved her hand while laughing, “Just having a meal with a few friends is enough. There’s really no need for such a big fuss.”

Alexander said, “This matter cannot be shabby.”

“I don’t find it shabby,” Purple sincerely said, “As long as we can be together, that’s enough. It’s icing on the cake to have our friends’ blessings. As for the irrelevant people who come, they’re just there to make a crowd. It’s meaningless and a waste of money.”

“You haven’t even married me yet and you’re already thinking of saving money for me?” Alexander teased her.

Purple wanted to reach out and pinch his cheek to see just how thick his skin was, but she was afraid of hurting her wound again.

“Come here,” Purple motioned to him with a hook of her finger.

Alexander moved closer.

Purple said again, “Closer.”

Alexander chuckled and moved in even closer.

Purple bit his face and then gently spat twice mockingly, “Your skin is thicker than city walls; I can’t even bite through it!”

“Nonsense,” Alexander retorted. “That’s because you didn’t bite the right spot.”

With that, he shamelessly brought his lips to hers, opened his mouth to entice her tongue, and indulged in a sweet and sticky kiss.

He was never well-behaved when kissing; as the kiss deepened, he would shift his ground, licking her earlobe and biting her neck, treating her as if she were a delicacy to be savored from all angles.

Purple remembered lying in the hospital bed for three days.

Even though she had been in bed all this time, not sweating, she still felt uncomfortable in her skin from not having bathed in three days.

“I’m dirty,” Purple whispered, gently pushing his head that was nuzzling her neck.

Alexander lovingly sucked on her neck, which felt soft and tender under his lips, reluctant to let go, he mumbled vaguely, “Aren’t I helping you to wash…”

“You’re so disgusting,” Purple laughed and chided him. “Stop it.”

Reluctantly, Alexander let go.

“Shall I help you wash up in a bit?” Alexander, holding a handful of her hair, gently combed it with his fingers and asked, “Does your hair need washing too?”

“I want the caregiver to help me wash,” Purple replied with a smile, her mouth unable to stop turning upward, “You have ulterior motives, I don’t want you to wash!”

Suddenly, Alexander turned and left the room without a word.

A moment later, he returned to the room and told Purple, “The caregiver has gone off duty.”

Purple was dumbfounded, then realized Alexander must have sent the caregiver away, feeling both amused and exasperated.

What a rascal!

She thought so, a sweet warmth flooding her heart, feeling strangely delightful at this notion.

She had never imagined spending her life, from now on, with such a charmer, full of laughter and mischief.

At night, Alexander eventually had his way.

He locked the room door, undid Purple’s clothing, and helped her wash from head to toe.

The wound was wrapped in bandages and couldn’t get wet. Alexander carefully avoided it, but when cleaning nearby, his breathing became visibly heavier, his eyebrows knitting together in a scowl.

Purple turned her face away, feeling awkward.

Both of them thought of the same person—Nathaniel Summers.

They had both been wary of Nathaniel, yet never expected that Nathaniel would attempt to murder Purple. Not only had Purple not anticipated it, but Alexander hadn’t either.

“Will he come back?” Purple muttered.

“He’d better not come back; otherwise, I can only break my vow,” Alexander said, buttoning up her clothes one by one, and then leaning down to kiss her jaw, lips, eyelids…

He had promised Purple that he would never kill again.
