From Imp to Demon God: Conquering the Demon World With a Succubus-Chapter 46: Obsidian Dominion Steps
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond said, "Enough with the interrogation, Rose. You must begin giving them information about their opponent later on."
Rose shrugged. "You know them better than us."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond fanned at herself, fluttering her long scarlet hair.
She said, "I’ve been focusing on the Bloodline Mastery Studies as your instructor, so I forgot about them. And who knows? Something must have changed while I’m not around."
Rose was surprised. She sighed.
She turned towards Violet and said, "Your knight’s opponent is called Shadowbind Knight. They are knights born from Incubus bloodlines since they refused to accept Blood Knights. After all, we were the first race to be rewarded with Blood Knights by the first Demon King.
Their innate art is called Dominion Thread. A shadow thread that binds movements. The shadow threads are difficult to discern and as long as there are shadows in a five meter radius with the Shadowbind Knight as a center, they could easily control it, making them difficult to fight in close-combat." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
She paused for a while before continuing, "However, the efficiency of their Dominion Thread depended on their mastery. If a Shadowbind Knight could compress and sharpen a shadow thread and summon tens of them, he would be difficult to face. Though, likewise, if your blood knight can easily shapeshift your bloods into many weapons and as sharp as the shadow, you could easily defeat them.
Hence, the debate whether the Shadowbind Knights and Blood Knights are stronger continued until the tradition began."
Rose turned her head around and said, "My Bloodsworn, tell their Blood Knights about the Shadowbind Knights’ demonic martial arts."
The Blood Knight placed his right palm on his left chest and bowed. "Certainly, Master."
The Blood Knight turned towards Myles and said, "The Shadowbind Knight’s demonic martial arts are called Obsidian Dominion Steps.
Pretty much a copy right to ours.
It consists of four steps. The first step is called Shadow Lock Step. They compress shadows beneath their feet with their Dominion Thread.
It causes the shadow within two meters to feel resisted. So, if you stepped upon their domain, the shadow behind you seemed alive and began to lock and slow your movement.
Most of them trained the first step since it’s much easier and provides control in the battle.
The second step is called Back Slip. They shift along continuous shadows cast by terrain or your bodies.
In other words, as soon as their shadow and your shadow are connected, they can swiftly move on your shadow, making it seem like they teleported.
This is the step they mostly practiced after mastering the first step. After all, once they gain control of your movement, they can easily execute the second step.
As for the third step, this is the step you must be wary of."
The Blood Knight paused for a while before continuing, "The third step is a suppression aspect step. They will consume a lot of demonic energy and with the help of Dominion Thread, a shadow pressure is forced towards your legs in a split second.
They mostly use it when they are striking towards you, so your guard will inevitably open.
But, it’s difficult to master it. They need the perfect timing to be properly executed."
The Blood Knight continued to stand behind Rose, and Myles and other Blood Knights listened attentively.
However, Myles suddenly turned around, causing others to be startled by his sudden action.
"Good reflex," said Rose’s Blood Knight.
He stood behind Myles and other Blood Knights, who failed to react and only turned around after his voice echoed.
Rose’s Blood Knight continued, "The Shadowbind Knight’s fourth step is called Umbra Aftermark. They compress a shadow imprint and leave it behind as they move. It creates a momentary false position.
It’s really similar to ours, but their fourth step made it even more difficult for the real person to track."
"Isn’t it the same as ours?" asked Myles, who was already standing beside Rose’s Blood Knight.
The latter was taken aback as he hastily turned towards his right and noticed Myles stood a meter away from him.
I got careless! To think he has also mastered the fourth step? How is that possible?
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond chuckled, garnering every succubus and Blood Knight’s attention.
She fanned the hand fan to herself as she said in an amused tone, "Violet, your blood knight is really interesting. As far as I remember, not a Blood Knight has mastered the fourth step before entering the Royal Academy due to the amount of demonic energy consumption."
Rose clucked her tongue in annoyance.
She asked, "He’s a noble, right?"
"No." The Guardian of Scarlet Bond instantly replied.
"Stop lying."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond giggled and said nothing, causing Rose to frown.
She gazed at Myles and was unable to confirm if he was really a noble or not.
She said, "In the first place, his demonic core’s quality is on the level of a noble demon. What do you mean he’s not a noble?"
"Even I’m as surprised as you," said the Guardian of Scarlet Bond. "It seems he possesses a lot more secrets than I thought."
"What secret?" Rose asked.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond curled her lips. "Would I treat it as a secret if I knew?"
"Would it be easier to just force him to know?"
"Well, there will be no thrill if I know. I like how he keeps surprising me."
Rose felt defeated and sighed.
She stared at Myles, who was facing his Blood Knight and fell silent.
Her Blood Knight said to Myles, "As you’ve said, it’s the same as ours. I didn’t expect a Captain like me was unable to perceive your movement. Your potential is higher than mine."
Myles replied, "Thank you."
Rose’s Blood Knight nodded and returned to his position.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond closed her hand fan, echoing a clicking noise that caught everyone’s attention.
She said, "Now that everything is settled. We should eat first before going to the duel arena."
