Chapter 48: Violet’s Proposal

There was something the Guardian of Obsidian Descent was unable to do against the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s proposal.

In a tradition where succubus’ knights and their knights’ fight against each other, once the proposal of life and death duel was raised, the other side must not reject.

It was the first agreement that was agreed upon by both sides when the tradition commenced. To begin with, the incubus’ knight was unable to fight against the blood knights created by the first Demon King.

However, eventually, the incubus’ knight gained the upper-hand as they adapted and after receiving the blessings of the Demon King.

Lately though, it was now reversed, after the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows’ first appearance.

Now, another life and death duel was about to occur and the Guardian of Obsidian Descent must not reject it at all cost.

After all, the succubus could have a solid reason to reject it if they proposed a life and death duel next time.

Of course, the Guardian of Obsidian Descent had an idea how to reduce the damage.

He recognized the origin of the voice who gave in to the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s provocation. It was the least potential among the new batch.

He nodded. "Since he responded with your provocation, his knight would accept the life and death duel."

In fact, the Guardian of Obsidian Descent already informed them about the tradition between incubus and succubus’ knights. If the succubus suggested a life and death duel, the chosen incubus would have to act as if he fell to their provocation and had his knight fight against them.

Although unwilling, he was assured by the Guardian of Obsidian Descent that his knight was not any less stronger than his peers.

Hence, his tone was eager—difficult to discern through his act.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond had an idea about it, but he did not mind.

However, Violet suddenly said, "How about this? Let’s alter the format slightly."

Every succubus and incubus was quite surprised. Their attention was instantly placed on her.

Violet, on the other hand, was utterly shocked. She swept her gaze around and tried to determine if there was someone impersonating her.

However, the voice clearly belonged to her.

She was about to explain herself, when her mouth opened again.

"Since the knights’ primary purpose is to help their master defend against surprise attack, why won’t we include ourselves as the main objectives of our knight? We’ll restrict any of our movements, and whoever got killed by the opposing knight will be defeated. Of course, if one of us is killed, the other knight has to surrender his head to another knight."

They were flabbergasted. Even the Guardian of Scarlet Bond couldn’t be amused by Violet’s proposal.

She asked with a stern tone, "Why are you risking your life, Violet? Your mother can go to war against incubus if you die, you know. Do you want that to happen?"

Violet was surprised. She wanted to turn around and scold Myles, knowing it was Myles, who issued a mental order to her. As his slaves, she failed to resist his silent orders.

However, since Myles was confident about his order, she didn’t have a choice but to satisfy him.

In the end, she surrendered her mouth to Myles.

She said, "It won’t happen. I wouldn’t consider this if I die. But, if I do. Just tell my mother I asked for it."

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was about to say something when the Guardian of Obsidian Descent said, "Even the Guardian of Scarlet Bond wouldn’t agree. Keep this ridiculous idea to yourself."

Violet instantly replied, "In the first place, the job of our knight is to protect us."

"You are not in the right position to remind us of what a knight should do." The Guardian of Obsidian Descent’s tone was heavy.

Violet was about to say something, when an incubus behind the Guardian of Obsidian Descent opened his mouth.

"Why won’t we give in to her proposal? Isn’t this interesting?"

The Guardian of Obsidian Descent turned towards him and recognized him.

He was the least person the Guardian of Obsidian Descent expected to join in with the conversation.

His father was his uncle, who currently held the position of the leader of the incubus house. In other words, even his Shadowbind Knight was the strongest among the others.

To suddenly voicing his desire to give in the succubus’ proposal made the Guardian of Obsidian Descent feel conflicted.

He turned towards Violet and said, "You are the daughter of Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows, correct? You do resemble her."

Violet shrugged. "Auntie already said it."

The Guardian of Obsidian Descent was silent for a while and turned towards the incubus behind him.

The latter stared at him and said, "Let’s give in. If I die, just tell father I agreed to this, there’s no need to bring the family matter in this duel."

"You know, this is unnecessary," said the Guardian of Obsidian Descent.

The incubus said, "I dislike the title I have, to begin with, and I don’t think I have the ability to follow in my father’s footsteps. The knight he assigned to me seemed to listen to him more than me. I might as well test which is stronger, his knight or the daughter of Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows’ knight."

The Guardian of Obsidian Descent was stunned. He turned towards his Shadowbind Knight with a glare, who didn’t dare to meet his eyes.

However, the Shadowbind Knight talked with the incubus, saying, "Young Lord, it isn’t like that."

The incubus shrugged. "I don’t care. If you have the capability, kill her. Or you die with me."

The Shadowbind Knight was lost for words.

In the end, he turned towards the Guardian of Obsidian Descent, waiting for his opinion.

The Guardian of Obsidian Descent, on the other hand, was helpless.

He did not expect that the young lord would be resentful at his knight and his father.

He was about to convince him when the Guardian of Scarlet Bond said in a helpless tone, "It seems they both want this type of duel. We can’t do anything about it."
