From Imp to Demon God: Conquering the Demon World With a Succubus-Chapter 97: Waiting For a Momentary Lapse
Myles had so many alternatives despite him being imprisoned. He could mentally instruct his followers to divert the attention of the other Commanders.
He surmised that the Commanders’ suspect of having been brainwashed by him were the Veil Stalkers, Blood Knights, and some Shadowbind Knights and Eidolon Sentinels which he always had contact for.
After all, there was no way he had already imprisoned the knight captain of the Chain Knights as well as some of the chain knights.
Now, all he had to do was play his cards right.
...
As the night passed by, the commanders actually put on hold the classes for their knights and were warned by the commanders to remain vigilant for a week.
With Myles now being held captive, the commanders were confident that there would be no more similar accidents to occur and that they only had to wait for the headmasters to return.
They were carefree—the biggest mistake they had, as Myles, who was acting normal, had finally come up with a plan to conquer the knight department despite his current circumstances...
...
When noon arrived, the Guardian of the Scarlet Bond finally appeared in the arena. The blood knights explained the details of Myles’ current circumstances, which enraged her.
Without hesitation, she pushed her way to the dormitory and arrived in the room of the Brand Templar.
All the Commanders were already present, seemingly aware of how she acted once she appeared on the expected time.
They bowed in front of her, calming the Guardian of the Scarlet Bond a little.
She asked, "Why have you held captive one of our blood knights?"
The Commander of the Brand Templar straightened his back and explained. "I believe the blood knights have explained. You don’t need to worry, Guardian of the Scarlet Bond. As you can see, he’s been safe and sound ever since he came here. We gave him what he needed, so you couldn’t even treat him as a mere prisoner."
The Guardian of the Scarlet Bond glanced at Myles, to which the latter smiled at her like a kid.
She gazed at them and sighed. "Why did you suspect him in the first place? I would like to hear the details."
However, the Commander of the Brand Templar shook his head and refused to elaborate.
He said, "With all due respect, Guardian of the Scarlet Bond. It’s best to wait until the headmaster returns. Once we manage to set an appointment with him about this case, we will definitely invite you. By then, we’ll determine if your blood knight is innocent or not."
The Guardian of the Scarlet Bond was utterly surprised. She seemed to be torn now on whether to insist or simply waited until the headmaster returned.
She glanced at Myles in silence and suddenly said, "I will inform Violet about this. Once they prove you innocent and manage to graduate from this place, don’t forget about those wicked knights who put you in this situation."
Myles replied, "Well, as long as they manage to solve this case, I wouldn’t hold grudges against them at all."
The Guardian of the Scarlet Bond nodded and turned around, leaving.
Myles returned to his usual meditation, leaving the other Commanders’ speechless.
The Guardian of the Scarlet Bond’s appearance as well as how Myles handled the fact that he was imprisoned and had been pointed as the primary suspect began to affect the commanders’ suspicions of him.
...
Two days later, as the knight department had not perceived a single suspicion onward, the commanders decided to resume the classes of the knights.
It was inevitable. Classes to be put on hold for a week would certainly affect their knights’ performance.
At this moment, the Commander of the Brand Templar as well as the Commander of the Chain Knights had to leave their job to keep a close watch on Myles to their knight captain.
No matter how strong Myles or how enigmatic his prowess to brainwash, possibly even a Commander, as long as the knights of the Crown of Chains would work together to keep a close watch on him, it would be difficult for him to break free.
Furthermore, for the past two days, Myles seemed to be carefree, to begin with. He even took advantage of the situation to keep asking for stuff that provided him with momentary happiness.
They couldn’t reject his requests. After all, even they found it boring if they were the prisoner. Aside from meditations and other stuff, Myles had never shown a hint of suspicions directed towards him, causing the commanders to feel doubtful of their suspicions they had towards him.
However, they didn’t have a choice but to keep using Myles as the primary suspect—he was the only one that the evidence pointed to him, to begin with. At the moment, they could only rely on their headmaster to solve the case.
In other words, they had to wait while Myles was being imprisoned. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
As long as the Commanders of the Chain Knights and Brand Templars left, alongside their knights to have a class outside, the knight captains of the Chain Knights and Brand Templar were left to chat around.
Their topic was about how to capture and subdue others that caught Myles’ interest.
In the end, despite how the knight captain of the Brand Templar tried to push Myles away from their topic, Myles managed to join their conversation.
Eventually, Myles asked, "Say, imagine this one, since you are the knights of the Crown of Chains, what will you do if you are pushed into the corner?"
The knight captains of the Chain Knights and the Brand Templar looked at each other, and the latter answered first, "That’s our biggest weakness, to begin with. If the worst comes to worst, we’ll rely on life-saving artifacts."
The knight captain of the Brand Templar nodded. "That’s right. As long as we can circulate our demonic energy to activate the artifacts, we can still retaliate."
Myles’ eyes shone.
"Really? You said that, right?"
The knight captain of the Brand Templar furrowed his eyebrows and nodded.
Suddenly, he froze.
His eyes widened in terror as he watched Myles staring at him while grinning ear to ear, tilting his head sideways.
