Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 393 - 332: Sky Splitting Insect Race
’Why do these hollow-eyed "Beastmen" look so familiar?’
Sang Luo’s first thought was of the Insect Clan from years ago.
She hadn’t returned to the South Continent since, but the Insect Clan had been quiet for many years. ’Have they been biding their time all these years, their wicked ambitions never truly dying?’
’But why would they self-destruct? A tactic that hurts themselves more than the enemy won’t get them anywhere.’
Using her spiritual power, Sang Luo spotted a dozen or so more of these "Beastmen" in the city. She immediately trapped them all within her Domain, ensuring that even if they self-destructed, they couldn’t harm anyone else.
After a series of explosions, things finally quieted down.
"Ma’am, I was trying to tell you not to come! There have been a ton of explosions all over the city! It’s not safe!" Little Bai ran over, panting. He put his hands on his hips, took a few deep breaths, and continued, "At first, we thought agents from other Empires had secretly planted bombs to cause a panic. Later, we discovered that these Beastmen were the ones exploding. They normally hide in the crowds, making them almost impossible to spot during the chaos."
"I’ve already seen them," Sang Luo said. "These self-destructing Beastmen are disguised members of the Insect Clan."
"The Insect Clan is back?" Leon walked over after seeing to the wounded, his expression furious. "This needs to be reported at once. They can’t have attacked just one area. We have to warn the other regions so they can prepare. I have no idea what those things are planning."
Sang Luo took out several Magic Artifacts and handed them over. "Prioritize your own safety. Some of these are for defense, others for containment. If you run into any more of those strangely behaving Beastmen, do not approach them. Stay as far away as you can—the farther, the better. Your best bet is to trap them in an open space before you try to deal with them."
"Thank you, Ma’am. We understand."
Sang Luo then took out several Teleportation Array Plates, along with many talismanic talismans and elixirs for healing. "I originally came to bring you all back with me, but I never expected to run into this. Good thing I brought a few extra Array Plates, though I’m not sure if it’ll be enough. The East Continent is still safe for the time being. Take the children and evacuate there. If anyone else in the city wants to leave, you can take them along."
"Don’t worry, Ma’am. Leave it to me." Leon, with his military background as a top student from the Yalan Empire, was highly experienced in handling such emergencies.
Sang Luo went to find Duotu to learn about the situation on the Western Continent.
So far, no incidents of exploding Insect Clan members had been reported on the North or East Continents. For now, traces of the clan had only appeared in the cities of the southern Western Continent.
Geographically, the South Continent was closer to the southern Western Continent. If the Insect Clan intended to launch an invasion, the Western Continent would be their first stop.
As for the Insect Clan’s unconventional and radical battle tactics, she feared she would have to make a trip to the South Continent to figure things out.
...
A poisonous miasma permeated the deep, dark jungle.
Sang Luo had been to the Insect King Palace years ago and still remembered the way, so she headed directly for it.
After the Insect Emperor died back then, she had no idea who was now in control of the Insect Clan.
Ah Ze had once mentioned that the Insect Emperor had been incredibly strong, its level of talent and power far surpassing all other members of the Insect Clan. Had their battle taken place a few years later, Ah Ze might not have been its match.
Whoever managed to obtain the Insect Emperor’s corpse would very likely become the next Insect King.
As Sang Luo made her way there, she realized something was wrong.
She had assumed the self-destructions were an extreme tactic meant to intimidate the Beast Clan, only to discover that many Insect Clan territories had been hit by the same kinds of attacks.
’Could it be internal conflict?’
She arrived at the Insect King Palace.
Sang Luo saw an unexpected person. "Shi Yi? You’re the Insect King now?"
The handsome, sinister-looking young man with green curly hair was also injured. He clutched his chest with one hand, his clothes still bearing fresh bloodstains. He looked at her in shock. "You?"
Realization dawned on Sang Luo, and she offered a faint smile. "So you’re the one who made off with the Insect Emperor’s corpse. You deliberately provoked the split between Anubia and the Insect Emperor. In the end, you were the one who reaped all the rewards."
Shi Yi’s innate talent was only average, yet in just over a decade, he had broken through from Half-King Rank to the Peak of King Rank. It went without saying that the Insect Emperor’s corpse must have fallen into his hands.
Shi Yi wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and straightened up, his slender eyes narrowing into crescents. "Long time no see... My, my, Little Pepper is as clever as ever."
"What about your injuries? Did someone from the Insect Clan try to assassinate you?"
"More or less," Shi Yi said through gritted teeth. "Those things don’t distinguish between friend and foe. They’re just running around blowing things up like lunatics who’ve lost their minds!"
Sang Luo found a chair and sat down. "I thought the Insect Clan was waiting for the right moment to make its move. But from the looks of it, things within your clan are more complicated than I imagined."
Shi Yi’s face grew paler, but he kept a smile fixed on her. "I know you’re here about the exploding members of the clan. I can tell you this much for certain: this isn’t our doing. At least, it wasn’t done by the Insect Clan of the South Continent."
"What do you mean?" Sang Luo’s eyes narrowed. "...There are other Insect Clans besides the one on the South Continent?"
"You probably know this already, but the Insect Clan aren’t native to the Beast World Continent. We migrated here from the outer universe. The clan on the South Continent is merely one lineage. The truly noble-blooded members of the Insect Clan are far more powerful than us, whose genes have mixed with those of Beastmen."
"Do those Insect Clan members have a name?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"The Sky Splitting Insect Race."
"..."
"The difference between the Sky Splitting Insect Race and our clan is like the difference between an Innate King Beast and a Genetic Beastman." Shi Yi offered an analogy, hatred flashing in his eyes. "To the Sky Splitting Insect Race, we Insect-Beastmen are the lowest of the low. Those bastards hold the original genetic code for our entire branch. They can easily take our lives, manipulate genetic viruses, and detonate us like bombs, turning us into their weapons!"
"..." Sang Luo was at a loss for words. ’So the Insect Clan has this kind of internal hierarchy...’ "How many of them are on the Beast World Continent?"
Shi Yi answered, "Countless. There are over a hundred million on the South Continent alone, and that’s not counting the many who live disguised among the Beastman population. You could say members of the Insect Clan have infiltrated every part of the Beast World Continent. If those bastards decide to detonate all of us at once, the entire continent will face its doom!"
Sang Luo took a deep breath, keeping her composure. She looked into Shi Yi’s cunning, slender green eyes. "Just say what’s on your mind. There’s no need to beat around the bush. As long as we can stop these explosions, the Beast Clan is willing to ally with the Insect Clan."
Shi Yi gazed at her, a charming smile spreading across his face. "I knew it. My Little Pepper is as smart as she is beautiful."
"...I hate people who talk in circles. I don’t have time to waste words with you."
"Alright, I’ll get straight to the point. Neither the Insect Clan nor the Beast Clan can do anything to solve this crisis." Shi Yi’s gaze locked onto Sang Luo. "Only you can."
