Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 416 - 355: Be Wary of This Child
Minos really was a great dad.
The Little Angels had soft, slightly curly, light-golden hair and skin as white, tender, and smooth as milk. With their chubby little arms and legs, they were delightfully soft and squishy. The wings on their backs had also grown fuller, and the feathers, covered in fine down, felt incredible to the touch.
"My two little darlings, did you miss Mommy?" Sang Luo asked with a smile.
Vilina cupped her face with her chubby little hands, planted a big kiss on her cheek, and said in a sweet, soft voice, "Yes~"
Her younger brother, Ares, copied her, puckering his rosy little lips to plant a big kiss on his mommy’s other cheek. "Me! I missed you even more than my sister!"
"Haha, you two are just too cute." Sang Luo hugged her two beautiful Angel babies and kissed them back.
"Mommy, are you having a little brother or sister?" Vilina asked curiously.
"Yes. They’re your mommy’s children with another one of your uncles, which makes them your real siblings." Fearing Sang Luo would get tired, Minos took the two heavy little ones from her arms... ’They’ve definitely put on some weight.’
Aside from the recent period when he had to go into seclusion and entrust the children to a trusted attendant, he had always taken care of them personally. He truly doted on them, as if afraid they’d break if he held them or melt if he put them in his mouth.
"Have you thought of any nicknames for the babies yet?" he asked Sang Luo.
"I don’t have any ideas yet. We can decide later."
"Right, there’s no rush. Take your time," Minos said with a gentle smile.
...
「After spending two days at the Holy Palace, Sang Luo went to the Void Demon Realm.」
"I knew I’d find you here~!"
Quan Jin was sitting at his desk with a book in his hands. When he glanced up and saw the slender, beautiful figure appear before him, a faint smile touched his lips. "Luoluo."
The two Little Snakes who had been napping on the desk woke with a start.
Little Qi called out sweetly, "Mommy!" then slithered onto Sang Luo’s arm and hung there upside down.
Little Yuan, who was shy and quiet, didn’t show his excitement as openly as Little Qi. Still, his beautiful, light-purple, glass-like eyes betrayed his joy, and the tip of his tail gave a gentle wag.
Sang Luo walked over and held out her palm. Little Yuan slithered into it and coiled up quietly.
Quan Jin had spent most of his time with the two Little Snakes at the Soaring Snake Palace in the Southern region, handling various affairs there. After the Demon Fetus was born, he returned to the Void Demon Realm.
The atmosphere here was more suitable for the Demon Fetus’s growth and development. Once the child was older, he planned to hand over the administration of the Void Demon Realm to him.
Sang Luo kissed her two little snake babies, then looked around. "Where’s Little Treasure?"
"Is that the nickname you gave the child?"
"Yes. Little Treasure was a huge help to me." Sang Luo went on to tell him what had happened in the Star Vortex Insect Nest.
Quan Jin stood up and hugged her from the side. "That child is a Pure-blooded Primordial Demon. I never expected that."
A trace of lingering fear.
He himself was of mixed Demon Beast blood, so his children were highly likely to be the same. The probability of having a pure-blooded demon was extremely low, so Quan Jin hadn’t considered the possibility. Coupled with the fact that Primordial Demons are experts at concealing their auras, he had no idea there was another child.
If he had known, Quan Jin would have never allowed Sang Luo to go to the Star Vortex Insect Nest. A developing Pure-blooded Primordial Demon required a terrifying amount of nutrients; the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures she carried were nowhere near enough. If the Demon Fetus hadn’t devoured a Baru God to get the energy it needed, it likely would have turned to devouring its own mother and siblings in the womb once it became hungry enough.
This time, it had been a complete oversight on both parents’ part, but it had luckily led to the best possible outcome.
A cold sweat broke out on Sang Luo’s back as she listened to Quan Jin. ’I had no idea Little Treasure was so dangerous.’
Quan Jin said gravely, "The Primordial Demon Bloodline carries inherited memories. They mature much faster than their peers and are experts at deception and disguise. Their level of danger is beyond what anyone could imagine. Even though he is our child, Luoluo, you mustn’t be deceived by his appearance."
"...I understand." Sang Luo nodded solemnly. "But he seems very attached to me. I don’t think he would hurt me."
’Perhaps Little Treasure’s demonic nature hasn’t fully awakened yet,’ Sang Luo thought. ’Otherwise, when he was starving, he would have instinctively devoured the other babies, or even me. But he chose to starve himself unconscious instead. He even reminded me to find other food.’
Having cared for the Demon Fetus for some time, Quan Jin had also noticed the child was gentler than the Primordial Demons of legend. He smiled in relief. "Perhaps because you’re his mother, he has a gentler, more human side. Still, it’s best to remain vigilant."
"Alright, I’ll go see the baby."
"He just finished his milk, so he should be asleep." Quan Jin led her by the hand to a side hall.
Little Treasure was sleeping soundly in a cradle shaped like a small boat. His somewhat frail body was curled into a ball. His head was bald, his skin was pale, and from every angle, he looked exactly like a tiny human infant.
"Oh, right. Since Little Treasure has taken a physical form, he must have chosen a gender, right? Is he a little boy or a little girl?" Sang Luo reached out to lift the blanket and take a peek.
Quan Jin caught her hand and coughed lightly. "...He’s a little boy."
"He kept saying he wanted to be just like me, so I thought he’d choose to be a girl."
Quan Jin chuckled. "The boy knows how to keep things fair. Perfectly balanced—he takes his form from you, his mother, and his gender from me, his father."
Sang Luo snorted with laughter, unable to hold it back. "Yes! He’s a clever little thing for being so young."
Little Treasure woke up drowsily. He rubbed his eyes with his tiny hands and opened his big, round eyes. Their irises were a deep purple, almost the color of ink. Stretching out his arms, he smiled sweetly. "Mommy~"
Sang Luo lifted him from the cradle into her arms. This little one wasn’t heavy at all; she could hold him easily.
"Minos raised the two Little Angels to be so plump and healthy. You need to put in more effort with Little Treasure. The next time I come back, I want to see him five pounds heavier!" Sang Luo shot Quan Jin a playful glare.
’Sang Luo had figured it out long ago. This man’s parenting style with the two Little Snakes was completely hands-off. Other than providing food and water, he hardly paid them any mind—’
’What an unqualified dad!’
Quan Jin had his own unspoken grievances.
Most Snake Beasts were indifferent by nature and had little desire to raise their offspring. Little snakelets could survive on their own right after hatching and didn’t require much parental care.
It was how they had been raised for generations. Out of consideration for Sangsang and the hardship she endured to bear his children, Quan Jin already went out of his way to keep them by his side instead of kicking them out to fend for themselves. Compared to other males of the Snake Clan, he was absolutely a perfect, doting father.
"Don’t worry, Luoluo. I’ll take good care of the children," Quan Jin said earnestly.
Only then did Sang Luo nod, satisfied. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Speaking of Minos... she cuddled with Little Treasure for a while longer. When she saw him getting sleepy, she placed him back in his cradle, tucked him in, and gently pinched his little cheek before tiptoeing out with Quan Jin.
Once they were outside, Sang Luo asked.
"Have you found any leads on Minos’s situation?"
Quan Jin was slightly taken aback. "He told you everything?"
"Yes. I know his Life Soul Bone is missing. Finding it is the only way to resolve his predicament. The bone has to be hidden in either the Holy Domain or the Void Demon Realm, so please assign more people to the search."
After she finished, a flicker of emotion passed through Quan Jin’s eyes, and a faint smile touched his lips. "Alright. I understand."
