Galaxy Fall: All My Skills Are Maxed-Chapter 161: The Weight Of Leadership
[Monster Zone.]
The monster zone was a separate region, which can be found in all three empires. This Region is wildly known as the wilderness, far from the villages, towns or cities of each nation. It was a place where the galaxy fall’s safety protocols vanished, leaving only the brutal laws of survival and endless spawning grounds.
Taking the dragon empire’s map for an example. The middle section of the map is known as the green zone, the location humans lived, protected by ancient barriers and heavy military presence, while the outer side of the map is known as Monster zone. Which is why people made sure to use teleportation towers or hire a very powerful guild to be their escort. Stepping past the border on foot was considered a death sentence for commoners.
Due to the situation in ragon city, Yakima and her group couldn’t use the teleportation tower to avoid drawing the devil cult’s attention, which is why they set off on foot. The magical fluctuations of a mass teleportation would have lit up the cult’s tracking arrays instantly, forcing them to take this grueling, highly dangerous physical route.
At the moment, perched high on a jagged, obsidian-like hill overlooking the treacherous terrain. A figure concealed in a heavy black cloak, with a sinister red skull vividly engraved on its back, stared at the dark horizon, a slight frown on his face. The dark spirit energy rolling off his form killed the sparse vegetation around his boots.
"Seems Gavin is dead." He said in a low voice, sensing the abrupt severance of his subordinate’s life force through their contract.
"Should we attack them?"
The cloaked figure lowered his gaze below him, staring at the corrupted lady who was hanging effortlessly on the sheer, vertical hill surface like a spider. Her limbs were disjointed, infused with monstrous DNA, and a devilish smirk was plastered on her mutated face.
"No... They should rest for the night, tomorrow, they will meet us here." He raised his hand from beneath his heavy cloak, the lady’s eye catching on the horrific augmentations grafted to his flesh, revealing sharp, cursed metal claws dripping with a faint, acidic poison:
"Then, we will kill these ignorant fools who think they can disrupt our plans... Soon, very soon, all the Empires will bow at our feet." He raised his head to the moonless sky, his eyes burning with fanaticism:
"Tomorrow, we will commence, and the world will welcome the Devil god!! Our Creator will finally descend and bring this world to its knees. We as his loyal servants will serve him to the very end!" He yelled, a huge, unhinged smile was plastered on his face, his voice echoing over the desolate landscape.
"Yes! The devil cult will rise again! I will go get the kids ready for tomorrow battle! Tomorrow, they’ll all meet their end in this wilderness." The spider-human said, and quickly rushed down the steep surface of the hill with impossible speed.
The man stared at her retreating form for a moment, and slowly raised his hand, staring reverently at the cursed claws:
"Soon... Very soon, you will be back." He said, a dark promise hanging in the stagnant air.
___
[Campsite.]
The atmosphere within the makeshift perimeter was heavy with unspoken anxiety. Yakima moved her gaze around, and sat down heavily on a thick wooden log, staring at the burning fire before her. The dancing flames cast long, flickering shadows against the treeline. Opposite her were Rose, Austin, Aurelia and some of her core guild members, while the other six were standing around, keeping a rigid, heavily armed watch over the dark woods in the distance.
’We are seventeen in this group, sending Sofia away made us sixteen... These members are the best of the best in the guild, the weakest being a Lv150, but still... Sofia, who was a Lv210 was almost killed by the enemy’s sneak attack.’ She clenched her fist, her nails digging into her palm as she calculated the terrifying power scaling they were up against.
’And if Mirabella’s words about the devil cult having things to increase their attack stats is true, then we are in trouble... Our armor can only withstand one million damage, if it’s above that, we will get badly injured, or even die.’
The reality of their world was absolute; if a strike bypassed the numerical threshold of their gear’s durability and defense stats, flesh and bone would pay the difference. She stared at Hitachi, who stood some distance away in the gloom, quietly caressing his armored black horse.
’Hitachi is now Lv90, but thanks to the celestial eyes, he easily blocked such an attack, which is also enhanced.’ She sighed softly, analyzing the bloodline abilities at play.
’My soul eyes can only block all skills which use spirit energy, it can’t stop an ordinary physical attack... Meaning, a magical attack is completely useless against us.’ She looked at Hitachi, a mix of pride and warrior’s envy in her gaze.
’Although the soul eyes are much stronger in creating illusions than the celestial eyes, it is still inferior when used in combat.’ She smiled slightly, a self-deprecating curve of her lips, covering her eyes with her hand.
’If he was stronger than me, or maybe Mastered how to use those eyes, I won’t be able to defeat him that easily... But.’ She stopped her train of thought and looked over her shoulder. Far from the group, standing on a small rise, Mirabella stood. Her striking blue hair was flowing in the cold night wind, her distant gaze fixed entirely at the starless sky, looking more like a descending deity than a student.
"Mirabella is something else, I have a feeling none of these eyes can work on her, she is someone you can’t trap in an illusion, you can’t even bypass her defense stats, and that’s when she isn’t even in any armor... Now, her level is even higher than mine, and she is also a Colonel. Once she graduates from the academy, she will just be given her office, and her title will be announced to the whole world... Just thinking about what she can achieve gives me the creeps." She muttered in a low voice, the sheer absurdity of Mirabella’s powers weighing on her mind.
She turned her attention back to the campfire and the Invincible Five. She stared at her sister for a moment, letting the protective instincts wash over her, and exhaled a long breath visible in the cold air:
"Tomorrow will be harder than today, I just hope they’re all ready." She moved her head to the heavily guarded carriage, where Princess Delphine was resting inside.
"No matter what, we must reach our destination, many lives are counting on us."
