"The cruelest law against hereditary nobility, a sword of Damocles above the heads of the nobles, ready to fall at the slightest carelessness."

Imperial Senate.

The place seemed full again; many new faces could be seen sitting in the seats that belonged to the corrupt and traitorous senators. This naturally brought a breath of fresh air to the senate, which seemed younger and more animated.

Miquella and Malenia were present; the two women were in seats behind the senators, reserved for the royal family to observe. Although rarely used since the royal members of the senate were Alysanne, Aegon, and Maegor.

Many eyes were on Miquella and Malenia; after all, if they were sitting in those chairs, they were royalty.

"Some look like they are going to war." Malenia commented, looking at certain individuals who seemed so determined and calm that they looked like they were going to war.

"Technically they are, a political war." Miquella replied as she picked up some grapes and ate them, her golden eyes staring at the four thrones above the steps. They were empty, and no truly important person had arrived.

"Is political power that important?" Malenia was confused; she was a general on the battlefield. Asking her to meddle in politics was like asking a child to enter politics. Even if there was politics in the Lands Between, it was nothing more than something Marika firmly controlled.

But, looking at the gigantic Imperial Senate, even she could feel that there were many politicians, showing that the division of power was simply confusing and strange, at least for a layperson like her.

"They are mortals; what matters to them is political power. For people like us, who want to ascend to the rank of god, political power is nothing." Miquella swallowed a grape and commented with a calm and sweet tone, her golden eyes staring at the fifteen hundred senators. Men and women who supported the enormous Imperium of Humanity.

"Mortals and gods are different." Miquella said with an indifferent tone.

Malenia understood Miquella's analogy well. She looked at the sweet girl with an innocent and delicate appearance with a calm gaze. "You are still so wicked, sister."

"After all, we were never good." Miquella looked at Malenia and smiled. The Age of Kindness she prepared was literally to make everyone love each other in a utopian world. Calling her benevolent was ignoring how cruel she was in sacrificing everything and everyone for her dream of ascending to divinity.

Malenia agreed; she was also never a good person; she was a weapon that didn't mind being used by Miquella.

"It has begun." Miquella spoke, noticing four figures sitting on their respective thrones. Unlike what she expected, the Gods of the Imperium of Humanity did not keep their distance from mundane affairs; on the contrary, they were very active.

However, it was the first time she had seen her three grandmothers at the same time, and she had to admit, her grandfather had good taste in women. One more beautiful than the other, whose beauties eclipsed all the other women present.

When Aenar, Daenerys, Visenya, and Rhaenys arrived, all the senators stood up and remained standing, everyone's eyes focused on the four figures sitting on the thrones above the steps. For the newcomers, it was the first time they had seen the Emperor and the Three Queens. The faces of these men and women showed animated expressions full of admiration; they puffed out their chests and remained perfectly erect.

Some veterans soon felt a peculiar atmosphere; the Emperor was more frequent in the Imperial Senate sessions, which was rare, given that the Emperor had to take care of all the interplanetary traffic of all humanity.

"We will begin the Imperial Senate session. We will start with the quarterly budget." Aenar spoke personally, and everyone began to move with maximum efficiency. Report after report was spoken in the Imperial Senate.

Hearing that the Imperial credit numbers exceeded two trillion per solar system, Aenar showed a calm look. It was practically half of the revenue collected in the last quarter and four times less than two years ago.

The civil war caused a great impact on the economy, which was not really surprising. After all, it was a civil war, even if it was a civil war that he himself had planned.

After hearing all the reports, Aenar spoke with a calm yet majestic tone. "Rebuilding the weakened solar systems will be a priority from now on; we don't want the economy to decline so much in the next Quarter."

Everyone nodded; then came the reports of the Imperium's expenses, and not surprisingly, they increased fivefold! reaching a terrifying 187 trillion Imperial Credits. This money was practically 40% of an entire year of the Imperium; of these 187 trillion Imperial credits, more than half was military spending.

When the report was announced, shocked exclamations were heard among the senators.

"Your Majesty, this number is too terrible to continue unchecked. We can only bear it because the money was being withdrawn from the Emperor's personal coffers, but if it continues like this, our currency will be devalued with the large amount of it circulating among the Space Guilds." Willas Tyrell, Minister of Coin and Treasury, spoke with a calm and deep tone.

Aenar knew he couldn't continue; a large amount of Imperial credits in the hands of these space guilds was quite complicated, as it meant that these space guilds could influence a portion of humanity.

Tapping his finger rhythmically on the throne, Aenar looked at Willas and spoke with an equally deep tone. "Decrease spending on other things; our military spending will not change."

If this were a normal Imperium, he might have reduced military spending a little, but in a galaxy covered in the flames of war with hundreds of races fighting tooth and nail, reducing military spending was showing weakness that he could not accept.

Until the entire known universe is pacified and all races have bent the knee, military spending must be the priority. Only when there is a strong army can there be peace for the Imperium to prosper internally.

Willas knew that touching military matters was forbidden and said nothing. Everything could be changed, but not military spending. In economic terms, he knew this was terrible, but in terms of security, he knew it was a necessary expense.

However, the new senators, who were hearing this for the first time, couldn't help but take a deep breath, hearing the amount of money spent to keep the Imperium's military machine running twenty-four hours a day, every month, every year.

Not caring about the wide eyes of these people, Aenar looked at Daenerys and nodded. After these reports, Aenar closed his eyes and let Daenerys take care of everything.

The imperial session continued without problems; the men and women continued to speak non-stop for almost four days before the final topic began.

"Crown Princess, you can continue from now on." Daenerys looked at Alysanne with a curious look and said with a smile. Not only her, Visenya and Rhaenys looked at the woman with curiosity.

Alysanne stood up holding a sheet of paper and began to speak loudly. "Yesterday, at 8:45 PM, I filed a bill proposal called the Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law and sent it to the Emperor and the Three Queens, and after much dialogue, the law was unanimously approved."

For some reason, the senators who had noble origins began to sweat coldly; they felt a bad premonition coming.

"The Hereditary Nobility Meritocracy Law determines that everyone, regardless of their title, must offer significant contributions to the Imperium, whether scientific, military, or political, to maintain their noble rights or aspire to the elevation of their hereditary title."

"In the absence of any contribution, the hereditary title will be reduced by one level, with such demotion applied every hundred years. If there is no significant contribution within five hundred years, the title will be completely abolished, and the noble will be demoted to the status of a simple civilian."

When the nobles heard the princess's words, including the nobles from the princess's own faction, they fell into complete silence. A deep silence hung in the air. They never imagined that they would be stabbed in the back by their own faction leader.

Some were furious, others worried, and some indifferent. They knew that something, as the law was approved by the Emperor and the Three Queens, they knew it was useless to protest against the law, as it was already in force!

That is, they had a hundred years to contribute to the Imperium, or their hereditary noble titles would be demoted! For counts and marquises, they were not so nervous, but barons and knights were in a panic. It was not easy to make political contributions, much less scientific ones.

Aegon and Maegor looked at each other and saw the look of pleasure in each other's eyes. They knew that this was the perfect time to accumulate forces and deliver a final blow to Alysanne, removing her from politics for a few hundred years.

Alysanne looked at everyone present and continued speaking. "Some of you must be furious, but for the good of the Imperium, useless nobles must disappear so as not to continue sucking the vital blood of the Imperium."

The senators were indifferent; compared to the continuation of their own noble houses, the Imperium could disappear!

These were the nobles that Alysanne mainly wanted to target; they were not loyal and held rebellious thoughts!
